  1. The Bure Valley Railway are a relatively small operation that plough all of their profits back into the operation of the railway. They've also had a tough year for reasons completely irrelevant to this thread. Shipping outside of the UK is obviously more work for them, so if those are their terms, so be it.
  2. Many thanks for that. I did wonder, having flipped the crossing over and looked at the link wires. Just to clarify, if I don't solder the extra feeds as shown, the whole crossing will be powered from the existing feeds circled?
  3. Building a small low-budget plank using only parts I have left over from previous layouts and my brain has stalled on what is probably a very simple question... Looking at the image, you can see what I'm trying to achieve. The two points are both electrofrog and will be powered by a dual frog juicer. The Peco short diamond crossing is insulfrog, simply because I happen to have one and I have no intention of using any ultra-short-wheelbase locos. The black and red dots are the power feeds and the little yellow squares are insulated rail joiners. Now, I'm assuming I'll need to solder two feeds to the short crossing as shown? This is where my brain is failing me today as layout electrics have never been my stong point. Is there anything I've missed, or will everything work as shown? Thanks in advance, Pete.

  5. That's a really nice shot. Did my one-day short circuit bar training by the hut in the background. Don't know why they gave us a day - it took about half an hour. Spent the rest of the day in the pub!

  7. I sincerely hope that's of some benefit to Andrew & co at Bure Valley. I've always had a cynical view of insurers, but in this particular case, words fail me.
  8. Might be one of those "prototype for everything" moments, but I've never seen photographic evidence of a point motor inbetween running lines when there's no reason it couldn't be cess-side. I'm building a short 4ft plank in the late 80s/early 90s era atm, and there's a station release crossover. One of the point motors is between the running lines, simply because there's nowhere else for it to go. That scenario is a bit different, being within station limits.
  9. Sounds like a good idea, but as I'm no longer an avid follower of this thread, you could argue my views are irrelevant. I've always appreciated the bargains posted, but what has soured the thread for me are the constant comments along the lines of... "My <insert bargain> arrived from <insert retailer> this morning." and "I was going to buy that but it doesn't really fit in with my interests or era." ...and various other comments which are totally irrelevant!
  10. Have to agree with the comments above. Bure Valley Models have always gone the extra mile to be helpful and often match/better the bigger box-shifters prices. If anyone hasn't used them for mail order, give them a go. They need all the help they can get right now, see news article below.   11. Good point, but the board's only 50". Take a couple of inches off for the buffer stop and a Crompton and 4TC would straddle the baseboard join. 33 + 3TC fits nicely with 6 inches to spare. Just one of the perils of having limited space at the moment. Edit: I took advantage of Kernow's "Exhibition Special" pricing at the weekend, so a B/G 4TC with NSE branding should arrive soon. It won't fit, I just know it won't! Just need to decide on the accompanying 33/1.
  12. Thanks guys, appreciated. I haven't purchased the TC yet, and just wanted to make sure what I was thinking of doing was viable. Rich, I shall probably hang on to the FK (likely to be Blue/Grey rather than NSE), as who knows what the future will hold and the next layout might have a bit more platform capacity.
  13. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer. The 4TC relies on one decoder and electrical connections between coaches... can anyone confirm that if I remove the corridor 1st to create a 3TC, everything will still work as it should? I'd like to pair a Heljan 33/1 to the TC but as a minimum space modeller, I only have a 4 coach capacity platform. 33 + 4TC = too long. Thanks.
