Indomitable026
Damian You need to use two layers of bendy mdf glued together for it to hold its shape, the toothed sides going together Geoff Yes, just out of interest, why do the toothed sides go together? RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted December 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2017 Yes, just out of interest, why do the toothed sides go together? Because it's the tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth. Mike.

Geoff Cook
Yes, just out of interest, why do the toothed sides go together? Hmm never asked that question, I just followed what was done by others, and on some literature I had . I suppose the main reason was to give two smooth sides Geoff

Indomitable026
Surely it's too cold in the garage for wood bodging, wouldn't the pub be warmer on a day off? Yes the cast iron bed on the table saw is a little cold. Assembly is taking place inside though allowing occasional thawing out.

Indomitable026
I've got an unexpected modelling day today. I should have been meeting Old Gringo and 2ManySpams to say farewell to our 'Treneglos' layout and hand it over to it's new owner. The snow has prevented me getting over to Spam Towers so hopefully everything goes ok with that. Now that all the adjustable feet are fitted I've been able to assemble the layout and adjust it to the required level. I can see that we're getting close actually doing some modelling...

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted December 10, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 10, 2017 Treneglos collection has been abandoned, so it's a good job you didn't fight your way over through the snow. Van only made it as far as the lower M40 before accidents prevented further travel.

Indomitable026
Great progress D! Are you laying the track direct onto the boards or using cork? Direct on to the board, as per DitD. I've never subscribed to any of the supposed benefits of using cork, well other than if you need a ballast shoulder, which I don't in this case. I've never subscribed to any of the supposed benefits of using cork, well other than if you need a ballast shoulder, which I don't in this case. I think the use of cork for sound deadening is tosh too. Where I think the cork is useful though is it gives you an extra 3-5mm that you can cut away to drop the ground slightly below the track and also helps set building bases into the layout.
