Baby Deltic
A couple of shots of a Spanish 'skip' working a tanker train to the refineries at Mazagon, Spain.
McGomez
Here are a couple more. First up is the double headed Escombreras - Madrid Gas tankers rumbling through Blanca/Abaran in the Region of Murcia. The second is my Mehano 333 in HO scale. Weighs in at 800g and is a fantastic bit of kit.
Jon Gwinnett
Fascinating. I've often wondered why modern Spanish stuff doesn't get more coverage given: A) Loads of Brits live there now B) There's some fascinating kit (in multiple gauges) C) there's some great models out there - Roco, Mehano, Electrotren etc. Have been musing over using P4 track but to HO wheel standards to represent the Iberian gauge. EM seems to work well for Broadford, the aussie layout, so maybe EM would be better. P4 is fractionally under gauge for 1668mm in 1/87 Are there any good Spanish railway mags or websites I should be subscribing to?

RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted April 14, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks for posting those pics - I always thought the 67s looked like they needed Co-Co bogies to look correct - and I was right!

Baby Deltic
I caught site of another one of those little blighters this afternoon. It was working an aggregate train towards the port at Huelva. Was too far away for a decent picture.
McGomez
It has a BO-BO related cousin which is even more class 67 like. This is the RENFE class 334 on a Madrid - Cartagena Talgo (Altaria)

Baby Deltic
I never knew the Spanish had electric skips. I caught site of a bo-bo skip with a pantegraph hauling an aggregate train whilst I was driving to Valencia.

mr45144
Forget the skips - these are proper Spanish locos! Thes ewere both taken in the Barcelona area in 1998 Kev
Baby Deltic
I think I saw one of these at a distance, and thought it was an electric skip: http://www.listadotr...oto.php?id=8401

The 253's not related to the 333 at all, though.

I was heading towards Valencia on the motorway, and the train was heading the other way. The white cabs and the general side on appearance made the loco look like a skip at a glance. RMweb Premium NGT6 1315 Posted April 19, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2010 Yes, I grant you that . I've a thread on Electrotren's model of the 253 in Overseas Modelling: Click.

McGomez
Rummaging through RMWeb and my content this afternoon I came across this old thread from last year so I thought I´d give it a bump. Friday is POETS day for many Spanish workers, me included (sometimes but not that often) so I thought I´d see if I could video one of the few freight workings that pass through this lightly used single track line. This is what I believe to be the Alicante-Madrid container train approaching Archena/Fortuna station this afternoon at 17:30ish. Presumably this circuitous pathing is to avoid the Alicante-Madrid direct route which is slightly busier than the Murcia-Madrid route. I´m also trying to see if I can finally work out how to insert a video into a thread so you can view it without opening a new tab. Here goes. Let´s see if I´ve mastered it? http://youtu.be/lnxXKJTtGgo

EddieB
Well, there's a bit about the 333 rebuilds and 334s in the current issue of Modern Locomotives Illustrated. The photos from Kev (mr45144) show a former DB class 211 sold to an track maintenance company and an ex-BR class 14 in industrial use. Spain has produced a number of good books on railways, but they aren't always easy to find in the UK (or in Spain, come to that). Check out the titles published by MAF and the Monografias del Ferrocarril. Likewise the magazines Revista de Historia Ferroviaria and Carril appear difficult to obtain. Finally, for preserved steam, this website http://www.locomotoravapor.com/ is invaluable.
F-UnitMad
Must admit this picture rather amazed me:- I had no idea that a Class 14 (or more than one?) had gone to Spain!! Did it/they have to be re-gauged?? And how difficult must that have been..!?!?
