D6775
After getting Russel Street ready for last years MIOG show Cam and I have decided to build something new. Basic plan is that we want to be able to run trains in a scene rather than faff about shunting etc. High Street is a working title as we cannot settle on a name, progress at the moment is around structure and track laying but we want it as generic as possible so with a change of Vehicles/Stock/Signs we can change the era and area. Anyway, here's some pix, we'll hopefully we'll continue to make progress over the coming weeks and months but this is to be a slow burner. I like the look of running above the houses Where the terrace house is will be a three story pub, but they may get used in front of the arches. The plan is to have a cobbled street directly in front of the arches, then some more structures in the foreground. This may be terrace houses or something more industrial. Once I have got the bridge finished and in I'll sort the arches and the cobbles, then the next job will be the pub.

Hi Chris, its KS Laser Designs Iron Bridge, I think they do it in 2mm & 4mm as well. Its a lovely looking model and goes together really easily but the painting is doing my head in! I should probably have though more about how to mask it up and spray it rather than doing the bulk of it by hand! Here's a few more progress pix Cheers, Al. 6 1
Andrew P
Cracking start, I love the almost Birmingham look about things with the Arches and Bridge. More pics and progress soon I hope.

More pics and progress soon I hope. I want it to represent inner city Glasgow & Cam wants to make it South Wales based but as long as we get that grimy inner city feel to it I think it'll be able to represent any big city. The bridge is based on one at Manchester Oxford Road, but I am going with a different colour scheme. Will hopefully have regular updates along the way, but for tonight another bridge pic as this is taking up all of my minimal modelling time at the moment as it needs to be done before we lay the last of the track! Hopefully after tomorrow it will just be final details and weathering. The last big jobs are two more coats of blue on the opposite side to this picture.
D6775
No update last week, we did make a little progress but not much, a few things have been done on the side but more of that another time. A couple of pix of the bridge in sunlight, I'm pretty happy with this and this is a far as I am going to take it for now. Once its in situ and we've built around it I mat weather it some more: This week we fixed the bridge in place and most of the track is now fixed down. Hopefully next Wednesday we should be able to get the last of the track in place and start thinking about some more buildings. The arches have had a coat of engineering blue but need the reverse side doing before they come back to me for some additional detailing. I think the next photo is probably my favourite so far, this starts to give the impression that I want. The terrace house won't be there but a three store public house. Not 100% certain what will be opposite but one of the Intentio warehouse/mill type buildings are a distinct possibility. All for now, Al. 9
D6775
Not a massive amount of progress to report at the moment but the track work is all but down so I am now looking at the next buildings to add. Neither of us have a huge amount of motivation at the moment so tonight we had a play with a rake of HEA wagons. And I couldn't resist this view of the A Team van. This view won't be possible when the pub goes in. That's all for now. Al.
D6775
Not a lot going on with the layout at the moment given the enforced lock down, however I am slowly working through a few bits so that when Cam & I can re-convene there are some things Ready To Plant! With Stephen Fay's painting guide from the Intentio website (http://intentio.co.uk/painting-tips/) I have over the last few weeks been working on various bits of the arches and retaining wall for the layout, slightly modified as the base for these walls is engineers blue brick (Phoenix Engineers Blue Brick P954). I am relatively please with how these are turning out. They have all just had a good coat of satin varnish and now drying in the garden. Tomorrow I will hopefully get some sunny shots of these bits and then they're pretty much done until they get fitted. I think I'll wait on weathering them until they are in situ and can be blended in with their surroundings. 9

As promised I've taken a pic of all the retaining walls in the Sun this morning. The top longer section is KS Laser Designs with the two shorter pieces below made up from off cuts, cardboard and a couple of sheets Slaters Plastic sheet. I'm not as happy with the paintwork on the Slaters sheet, it didn't work as well as the laser cut wood, but as it won't been seen from normal viewing angles it will do. All needs a good weather but this will be done in situ. The bottom two pieces are also missing coping stones, but these are in Cam's garage! I can soon paint and add them at a later stage. Also in the pic is my first blank for the arches, not 100% happy with this but its a start, I need to make up another complete plank and two more with openings, one for a garage and one for another industry. Not sure what yet.
D6775
Well the first of the inhabitable buildings arrived to today and so after work I had a little motivation to start putting them together. I have been discussing with Phil from Intentio since the Bristol O gauge show about buildings for the new layout. His new half relief pub kit was the impetus to make a start, so today a full pub kit arrived with an extra storey (the roof line needed to be above track level), unfortunately there was some space in the box so I was forced to purchase a half relief shop too! There is a plan for this shop and the next purchases to create a street for another part of the layout. So although the two buildings are pictured together below, they will end up at almost opposite ends of the layout. If I can sort the lettering on the pub name board tomorrow the brick pieces will likely start to get paint tomorrow evening. The shop/house may well get put to one side until the rest of the street is ready. I will have to start thinking about the interior as well.

D6775
Well a little more progress over the last couple of days. I am however running out of some stock items. Completely run out of grey primer so I'm now using white, hence the off white look on some of the pictures below, they are fully primed but in a white/grey mix! I have also run out of cheap white gloss so the pub is using a base of Black instead, will see how the red oxide covers for the brickwork! This is about as far as the shop/house will get for now until I have the rest of the street, so this now goes into storage for a bit. I want to build the street as one whole building so there are no distinct changes.
D6775
Just a small update tonight, as its been raining I have been holed up in the office most of the day working on the pub, front and rear now nearly ready. Windows and glazing to add and maybe some weathering once the whole building is together. 6

D6775
No modelling as such today, as the sun was out it was fence painting day! However I did pop the front of the pub on to the rest of the structure and couldn't resist putting the etched windows in. Looks much better in the sun!
D6775
Very little progress at the moment with not being able to get to the layout itself. Cam has been doing a bit of modelling and posed a 60 with the retaining walls so here's a random picture: Still waiting on some Red Oxide paint now from a third supplier (I hope) so I can crack on with the pub. More buildings to come and hopefully we'll be able to plant some of them sometime this year.
D6775
Red primer finally turned up yesterday from my third supplier (first two clearly couldn't be bothered!). It s totally different shade to Halfords but has done what I needed on the pub and will give some variation with other buildings. Managed to pick out the bricks on one end of the pub with various browns, still need to do the other end and paint up the chimneys but will hopefully be on to doing the roof before too long. Next up the Intentio shop/house. This is the new red primer which is a much redder colour, only detailed with two other browns so far but I have a third to try. Again this should be to a point that the roof will want doing, but it will then stop until I have some more houses so I can do the roof in one. Lastly an NPS Terrace house. Not sure if this will make the cut for the new layout or not, but I will finish building it and see once we get back on site!!
D6775
Mortar done and tiles on the roof, this is nearly done at least for now. A dusting of primer on the roof late and it'll get guttering etc once in situ. 5
