  2. Yes, it will be Ella Rowcroft so I appreciate hearing this reassuring message and I hope Pat is making good progress.

  5. Thanks, but no thanks ..... he doesn't have the legs for skirts!
  6. I Don't Know How To Love Him - from "Jesus Christ Superstar"
  7. If I may be so bold as to correct my husband, I believe I actually stayed with you for eight weeks in the summer of 2014 (will check my diary!) From my experience of having my other hip resurfaced in 2005, it was recommended to rest for an hour each afternoon on the bed so we will both have a break from each other, unless Ian too feels the need for a siesta!!!
  8. It doesn't work like that in teaching, unfortunately. One has to be interviewed during the working day and teachers can't take leave in termtime so your current boss has to know. Sometimes, references are taken up prior to the interview, too. All the best, Andy. I'm really pleased you are applying for the position.
  9. Good Girls Go to Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere) - Meatloaf
  10. There Goes My Baby - The Drifters
  11. Connection??? I think you must have followed on from post #48400 and missed the current page! Oops!
  12. Steppin' In A Slide Zone - Moody Blues
  13. The hotel which inspired the series - the Glen Eagles - became an attraction for tourists and even had its own brown sign! Sadly, it was demolished recently to make way for a block of flats. Some talented friends of mine - The Moonstone Theatre Company - give themed evenings in pubs and restaurants, based on "Fawlty Towers", "'Allo, 'Allo", etc., but they've been banned from performing the former by John Cleese unless they pay huge performing fees. http://www.moonstonetheatrecompany.co.uk
  14. The Land of Make Believe - Bucks Fizz
  15. This is true of France where the country is split into three sections for the purpose of staggering the longer holidays. I believe the Netherlands adopts the the same system. In the U.K., it would be a good idea but could cause problems for teachers with children in schools across the divide. This is already an issue when neighbouring authorities opt for a different pattern of holidays. My daughter lives in Cheshire but teaches in Staffs where at times the holidays don't coincide.
  16. It depends where you go around Torquay but then why would I want to encourage you to visit this "hell-hole" which I call home for much of the year?! I'll keep quiet about the beautiful countryside, picturesque villages (Ian and I were married in one of them) lovely clean beaches and flourishing arts scene because why would anyone want to know about those?!
