  1. A few photos of today's fun playing with Tidworth this afternoon in Guildford, and a great chance to catch up with Ian and Kevin (plus grandson) from Leaford. Guess what - since it was Sunday there was quite a bit of engineering work going on..... Thanks to the Astolat team for their hospitality. Phil
  2. Evening all I'm sure you'd tell me if you were bored of seeing woodworking, so I'll continue...... The woodworking phase is coming to an end. I've completed the bracing and also added some 'walls', just in case anything falls off. I was planning on giving it a coat of paint to make it look less 'woody'. I need a couple more points to finish off, hopefully I'll be able to pick some up at Astolat ( http://www.astolatmrc.co.uk/ourExhibition.html ) tomorrow when I'm helping out / shorting out Tidworth Phil
  3. Very realistic road surface. Thanks for explaining how you did it. Phil
  4. A bit more progress this afternoon - the gap has now been closed - this tiny little bit took pretty much as long as the whole of everything else. A bit more bracing to the legs is still required, but generally all done. I've tried out some various combinations and the best bet seems to have one long siding in the middle, with the outside splitting into four each. I'm going to recycle the (flexi) track that was on the helix, but it will need a bit of trimming given that the outer rail was about an inch per yard of track longer than the inner one. I'm still toying with how to make the scenic break - the road bridge, a plain backboard painted sky colour or perhaps a building. Phil
  5. Not really enough room unfortunately (there never is). Going to use for sidings then I can run trains into the yards, shunt round a bit. I'm planning to try and have one era at a time (well within reason) rather than my usual hotch potch of traffic. Phil
  6. A bit more woodworking - at least I can fit my GWR HST set into the new sidings. All I need now is a green set. And yes I need to do some tidying up..... Phil
  7. The first of the boards has been built, however not sure if there has been a slight calculation error with the levels....
  8. Great news, the wood (or should it be timber) fairy has been.... let the sawing begin.
  9. What like this person I met back in February in Atlanta along with his not so Secret Service detail....
  10. Just to keep you all in the loop, here is the before (with the helix) and the proposed - with the new orange boards with sidings on.
  11. Sure - All stacked away safely along with the threaded rods/nuts/washers etc. Phil
  12. Wow - Santa has been generous to you this year Neil - I understand the coaches aren't the cheapest of gifts..... Phil
  13. Afternoon all. End of an era today (until I change my mind again and rebuild it.....) Time for a bit of new year rebuilding means the helix has had to go. In theory it was a great idea, but the number of times thing derailed, got stuck etc. means I have decided to carry on the track round the corner at the same level and have the sidings there. I'll use the current lower level (which is actually full to the brim) for general storage. Here is the demolition..... Hope you all had a good Christmas. Phil
  14. A bit more fencing action over the festive period... Phil
  15. I've finally finished the fencing, although it looks a bit wonky in the photo - I might need to go and adjust it..... Merry Christmas to everyone and hope that Santa brings you all some nice presents.
  16. Spent most of this morning fitting chips - not much space in those '08s And I think I might have overdone it with the shunters
  17. Evening Bit more track laid and ballast applied - I'm getting into this again - must be time to leave the country.... The new track is to the very right.
  18. Thanks, and you're right, how else are the mini-Beresford Junctioners going to get the ice-cream van and the fire engine into the yard. Phil
  19. Afternoon all. I've decided to add a bit more trackwork, just in case I didn't have enough already. I'd already taken out the section before I remembered to take a pic And here it is with the point fitted into the slot and re-ballasted. Here is the overview shot - the new siding should allow me to move trains in and out of the new container depot without getting snookered. Not sure if I'm going to keep the road over the track and extend to the new one, or remove the others. Phil
  20. Some shots of the show today grabbed between running the trains, and I don't think I shorted it out once....
  21. Thanks Neil I just need to be there to play with it - I'm in my usual place all this week.
  22. Wow - bit of a blast from the past with that post - nearly five years ago - quite a lot of changes to Beresford Junction since then As for the MPV/Nissan Cube I believe too I've seen/actually been in a few - they're quite popular cars for Uber/Lyft drivers. Anyway thanks for the intel. Phil
  23. Hi Kevin Loving the cranes too, and also the 'pragmatic' use of the van as an extra ladder - we had some roofers doing work on the house that did the same trick recently - I just looked away.. I'm in the same camp as Scott at the moment I'm afraid but enjoy the regular updates from Leaford. Phil
  24. Some photos of the new additions to the fleet at Beresford Junction - an eclectic selection I know, but what do you expect......
