  1. Was just wondering, what is the youngest of the three Freightliner liveried containers available / what time period do they cover? The yellow & red, plain red or white & red? I’m guessing the white & red?? I remember seeing a Freightliner container at Mallow station in Ireland in ’98 or ’99 I would like to replicate this. Cheers, Mike C
  2. I agree, Gloucester class 100 & Chester
  3. Oh dear, how sad, it would appear that I have the 'Friday afternoon' model. Just unpacked my L&B green Yeo to find that a section of the copper pipework that runs along the side of the boiler is missing & one of the cylinders has chipped paintwork. Also appears to be a bit of a 'lumpy' runner straight out of the box. Currently awaiting a reply from my supplier. Mike C
  4. Well with the Saint nearing completion at Didcot, it certainly would dovetail nicely. I'd certainly be up for a BR liveried version. Also surprised that as 009 now seems popular in the RTR market, that no one has jumped at producing the V of R locos . . . Mike C
  5. Didn’t get round to checking over my recently arrived FGAs until Friday, when I discovered that I had two 20ft freightliner containers with the same fleet number. A quick phone call to my chosen supplier (Kernow) & now arrived in the post today is a replacement. So possibly worth checking to see if you’ve got two identical containers, but then again, perhaps most people aren’t bothered about such things & possibly I was just unlucky. Mike C
  6. Just had an email from Hattons saying that the L&B green Yeo's should be in stock on or after 13th December
  7. Having lashed out on 5816 in the week I finally got round to giving it a proving run last night, up & down a short length of track & I’m pleased to say that it ran fine, though it did do a funny little hop for the first two revolutions of the driving wheels, but I think there must have been a foreign body sitting on the tread of the wheel that I’d not noticed. After that, all appeared fine - phew
  8. Finally got round to giving my BP one a proving run last night & pleased to say it ran fine
  9. A question, what time frame does the livery for the container wagons themselves cover? (As I've no interest in the actual containers, as they belong to a period prior to the time frame that I've chosen to model). Also, are there likely to be any further releases with later period containers or the flats just on their own? Cheers, Mike C
  10. Does anyone know if the ones with skirts still have all the motion fitted out of sight or do they just have a connecting rod linking the three axles? Cheers, Mike C
  11. Mmmm special repaint of 35017 in to Dutch by the DTG? Think the D&EPG might have been a bit upset if the DTG had repainted the loco, as it's not theirs
  12. There is of course the old Wrenn 'Lowmac WBB' as well, but I'm not sure of it's accuracy & again I think this is based on a BR build
  13. For a minute I started to wonder if I'd stumbled across an 'adult' video, phew. What next? A really 'X' rated video of someone 'burning the box'?
  14. If you think about it, it makes more sense to do the opposite. Simply because people who want one will rush out & buy what ever the first version is to hit the shelves & then repaint it - just in case no more are produced. Later on the more 'popular' version can be released & those who bought the first offering, will then go out & buy a second one.
  15. Gosh Coronation does look nice, would have liked it, but the bank balance has taken a bit of a beating of late & really I'd have preferred an opened back cab - I must be strong
  16. With all the wailing & gnashing of teeth over this model, I opted to play things safe & to visit my preferred local retailer - the station shop at Bishops Lydeard (West Somerset Railway) All of their models had been inspected & were found to be fine. Haven't run mine yet, but looking at the hyper fine flanges, I do wonder if Heljan have made them a bit too fine for the average layout Mike C

    34081

An off the wall question if I may, the model of 34081 that Hornby did a few years back in Malachite green, but with BR number & British Railways written on the tender - is that representing a livery that the loco carried during it's early BR years or the livery as carried now in preservation? Cheers, Mike C
  18. Hi Fran, Thanks for the second reply & for clearing things up Cheers, Mike C
  19. Thanks 071 for the reply. One other daft question & I'm half wonder if I dreamt this, as opposed to having read it. But am I correct in thinking that the Tara's have had three different styles of 'lid' fitted? If I am right on this, what style of 'lid' is being tooled & hence again what time frame does the 'lid' suit? Cheers, Mike C
  20. When you say the current livery, when did this come in to existence roughly?
  21. Mind if I share the photo on a facebook site covering Warrington & it's railways?
  22. No, it's actually O gauge, it's just that the photographer couldn't get any closer due to the boundary fence & he'd forgotten to take his zooooooooooooooooooooooooooom lens
  23. The photo that I've come across is very similar to yours MarkSG, but it must have been taken a few days earlier, as the hand brake stands (or what ever is their correct name) are still in situ, along with some fine oil (?) lines. I came across it on the Facebook site Britain's Railways Remembered Actually, after a quick comparison, I wonder if the two photos actually show two different locos?
