  1. Given up on the plans Sold off all the L&B stock already & the track! Goin Back in the garden!
  2. HATTONS------------Now due August September its taking a long time isnt it?
  3. LATEST Info from HATTONS: Heljan 00-9 L&B 2-6-2 "Expected" Jan to March 2016. There must be lots of lonely Peco L&B rolling stock patiently waiting, ( and quite a few abandoned or mothballed projects I guess!) Another retailer did say to me in Feb dont expect the loc for at least a year!
  4. L&B 00-9 2-6-2T!! (although someone in the know did say not to expect it for a few months+ yet)
  5. He is closed for a few days over the Easter Break, its on the website, PS anyone notice Tim got a mention in Railway Modeller April issue? Railway of the Month OLDHAM Junction.
  6. Me too! Although Tim has sent me 2 really MASSIVE boxes this week!!
  7. Right now we will require a state of the art 8f to go with these wont we?? Heavy Metal bodied and twin fly wheels will do nicely!
  8. Nice One HATTONS! I remember these well they used to pass one of my schoolls I attended for a short time ( Royal OAK Baguley , Manchester) very frequently, once saw one Triple steam headed! In the latter days of their service I remember seeing an ICI Hopper train which had derailed early one Sunday near Chapel el Le Frith! / New Mills THE date was 24 feb 1980 and pics are online somewhere, Google ICI HOPPERS New Mills and scroll down to 1980 etc
  9. I noticed this I put a post in the Bachmann thread, I reckon that they are Identical to th e L&B stock Has there a deal been struck with Peco? will be interesting to see if the New Peco 00-9 flats turn up in the USA as well??!!
  10. Interesting....I had not heard of this mag. I read 'N-Scale' which is an American magazine devoted entirely to N gauge & Nn3 its not bad, but doesnt hold my attention for too long if you get my meaning! Cerainly not what i would wait for with baited breath every 2 months ( its Bi monthly) I suppose that with N Gauge being quite a small sector of the Hobby producing a magazine is a risky business.
  11. HATTONS are listing 3 x Welshpool & Llanfair 4wl coaches ( Ex Zillertal) £35 pre order so anyones geuss when they will be available although the coaches are/were? already produced so its only a case of painting and lettering for the W&L These are on the Liliput Section, I cant see anything on the Bachmann UK site referring to these
  12. are you referring to 00 or 0 gauge locos> If it 00 then they work admirably I have used several with no problems whatsoever!
  13. I think one of our members drives a truck and has mentioned calling in to Tim's shop and being able to park! But of course you may not be bringing your truck when you visit!!!
  14. There is no specific sound decoder for the VEP,, but Howes do one which is a generic EMU sound decoder, Not sure what it would sound like in a 4VEP but its not bad in the EPBs,
  15. If kernow can order 108 it looks like there is plenty of unsold stock around consider also the reduced prices (£60) for the 2-BILs and also some reduced steam locos listed, Also Hornby are offering £50 off the purchase of the 2 variant of the 5-BEL It may be Hornby are after getting a bit of cash in ? I think that it may well be a good idea to keep a close watch there may be more bargains to be had Just a quick query also for recent 4-VEP purchasers, how are the running qualities? We bought some of the first releases but all were returned as poor runners and derailers! and we never considered buyung any more
  16. Exactly!! But what will those who bought them for £100+ be thinking
  17. 2- BILS for £60.00 Inc Blue ones....... makes you think doesnt it
  18. I may be sticking my neck out a bit here, but as a buyer of UK outline 00 products for some years from many manufacturers such as Hornby-Dublo, Tri-ang, Triang-Hornby, Wrenn, Trix, Lima****, with apologies to those I have omitted!! My personal view of the J15 is that it ranks as best 00 steam locomotive ever ( so far but bet theres more to come and not too far off!!) EDIT **** Whoops.. Sorry Bachmann I omitted you from the list but dont worry too much I have 1 of your locos due for delivery tomorrow
  19. I have posted pics higher up on this thread showing the inside, fiting a decoder is a 5 minute job, the tender space is a bit tight for a speaker but managable, ( I have not fitted sound to this one) post #186
  20. You have jogged a memory there!!!!
  21. Actually there was much discussion in the press many years ago regarding flywheels in UK outline 00 locos,,,it was seen that the inclusion in USA outline made quite a difference to the achievement of smooth running, but even in those days even the UK diesels were not F wheel fitted! I am talking late 70s early 80s. We used to fit flywheels to our 0 gauge kit built locos wherever practical around that time and the benfit was very apparent.
  22. It has taken some time for the manufrs of UK outline to realise the potental of flywheels in steam outline locos. It has been the norm on Most US and many Continental steam locs for quite a long time now , which has greatly enhanced their running qualities. Now then Hornby hows about a Nice 8f with flywheels & a metal body (please) ........ sorry I realise this is a bit off the thread
  23. Just a few more general thoughts............I really like the fact that this loco is mostly made from metal!!, It recall the old Hornby-Dublo and Wrenn days when diecast was the norm, I remember when Triang came to the fore that the plastic locos whilst good for the time did not really seam 'quite like proper models' compared with their competition!! I am i suppose swayed somewhat by my 0n30 modelling where metal is the predominant material used for the locos by Bachmann making them very heavy, surefooted and brilliant brilliant performers. I am wondering what the future holds, will we see a move to increased use of metal bodies on UK stock I wonder. Having further run my J15 I can confirm that haulage capacity is probably far more than most users will require in normal use.
  24. Just had a quick un dismantled look and it is very possible it is one casting when I was working on the loco earlier I had that impresion also
  25. My supposition was not really re Bachmann's proposed J15, But whether something unexpected may be on the cards for early release, I heard from my contacts in the trade that cards are being played very close to the chest so to speak, of course it could mean nothing and we wont know for a while.
