  1. OK David and Phil...please desist. Thank you. I am preparing some notes now and see what you feel about those shortly. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  2. Hello Phil Many thanks. No need to be despondent...many items come from Middle Polling and your Poll Team - as you might recall - has done its utmost to convince Bachmann that the Diag.2406 BCK is a winner. Here's hoping! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  3. Thanks Phil We always try to make the point that even if an item were to amass, say, 10000 votes, or a maker was 'overwhelmed by clamour' for it via emails or at exhibitions, that item will probably never be made unless they can see a return on investment. This 00 Wishlist Poll is to state to makers what we as a modelling community would realistically buy if ever made. It is not to 'demand' something be made. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  4. Hello Tony and everyone Firstly, a Happy New Year to you all. I have attached The Poll Results page for LNER Locos. I am pleased to say that the J6 has gradually been climbing up the ranks, attaining High Polling in 2019. We didn't run in 2020 or 2021 but for 2022 the loco achieved a Top 50 spot - which is very pleasing. The D49/1 & D49/2, F4, B16/1 and J21 have all gone into Top 50 for the first time this year Seven LNER locos have been announced since the 2019 Results: two from The Top 50; 4 from High Polling; and one from Middle Polling. We use the bands (Top 50, High, Middle, Low) to give us a more accurate picture of how any item is faring over a number of years as opposed to just saying 'X had 20 more votes this year'. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) LNER Locos Results - The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022.pdf
  5. Hello Robin Don't forget that we could list 50,000 items at least - so, even Low Polling is still very high in the round of things. It is true that the majority of items announced tend to come from the upper echelons but there are still many that come from the lower rungs. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  6. Hello tomparryharry and rasalmon Extracts from the Q&A below. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) Items that have ‘languished’ in Low Polling for years with – seemingly – no prospect of production have been deleted as have the c.70 items that have been made or announced since the 2019 Results. About 90 new entries have gone in. The remaining core content has been thoroughly reviewed – for example, the SR Tavern Cars are now one listing instead of three. What if voters have any suggestions for 2024; or need impartial help or advice? With the best will in the world, the list contents won’t satisfy everyone. To make suggestions for 2024, email thepollteam@gmail.com, but note that we will only consider those with a c.100-word justification based on the criteria below and a minimum of one link. The item should as far as possible have: 1. A realistic chance of being commercially viable (not simply ‘your favourite’!) 2. An existing prototype or drawings available 3. A wide geographic spread of operation and/or long life 4. A broad modelling appeal or public popularity 5. A context with other items listed or on the market. An acknowledgment will normally be sent within 24 hours, but a full answer to any requests for help and advice might take a few days. We will also answer queries on RMweb but note we won’t take suggestions!
  7. Hello tomparryharry Thanks for writing. We do our best to bring the cut-off date back as much as we can and this is on the agenda for 2024. If an item is within our cut-off date year, then it doesn't go in. Not ideal, but pragmatic. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  8. Hello again D9020 Nimbus I posted my initial reply before I saw your 'edit'. Scottish items are in Category 05 Locos & Rolling Stock: Scottish Companies (inc some Scottish LNER & BR Classes). Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  9. Hello D9020 Nimbus I was discussing this very point with someone earlier (off RMweb) and it does seem that modellers want 'bells & whistles' - literally! - on everything these days, so perhaps they were voted highly for that reason? We were 'duty bound' to list the 08 as it just falls within our cut-off date. And we did say in the Q&A that many modellers will find that many models made just prior to 2005 will be fine in most major respects so there was no need to vote for them unless they would realistically buy them if made in the future. The J67 has been High Polling since 2013 and entered the Top 50 in 2019 and has remained there this year, albeit just slightly higher. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  10. Hello Andy, Phil & Howard Very nice! Even if the three of you hadn't been 'in shot', I reckon I could have guessed which was Phil's room!😀 The video was a reminder that we have some superb scenic modellers who delight us with their efforts! I fully agree that the3D-printed diesel loco bogie was brought out to perfection with the weathering (and I'm a 'steam buff'!). Fully agree also on the need for RTR model locos to have haulage capacity and that we have some very enthusiastic and engaging manufacturers these days. The models we get now do - in the main - cut the mustard very well. Fully agree too on the local show angle - try Olney (near Milton Keynes) in September when they usually have their show. (No connection - just 'satisfied customer'.) OK...thanks for all you do and all the best for 2023! Brian
  11. Hello Rob Well...I can fully assure you it did. All my other locos were fine because I tested everything thinking I had a serious layout fault. The 14xx was the only 'problem' loco. I can't re-test as the controller has been repaired. Brian
  12. Hello Mr Wolf and everyone Not sure if the following may have a bearing (and I am not an 'electrical person')... I use what were Kent Panel Controls handheld controllers - now sold under their own name by All Components. I always have the feedback switched to minimum by the man who runs their repair service. On one occasion, a controller came back from repair with the feedback inadvertently left 'full on'. My 14xx jumped all over the place! Changed over to the minimum feedback controllers...problem gone! Brian
  13. Hello Ian We always have comments along these lines and it is really only a matter of speculation as to why - but The Poll Team goes by whether items stay relatively in positional context over the years. The E2 and E3 have. We have, in the past, listed The Tavern Cars individually and combined. When combined, they come higher up. When listed individually, the 1951 types are Middle Polling and the other two High Polling. On the plus side, at least 14 items of the Top 50 are SR!🙂 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  14. Hello Kev Many thanks for the appreciation which we...well... appreciate! Sorting it all out is hard work but 'in a nice way'. When we compare The Poll content to how we first ran in 2012, it is clear to see how far we have come - and that is all down to teamwork within The 00 Poll Team; consistent support and constructive suggestions for many regular voters; and to Andy who always does 'the computerised bits' to such high standard and within time scales. 👍 We have already started work on 2024!🙂 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  15. Hello Phil Indeed, we 'worked our socks off' to get the results out today as we felt many would like to browse today. The S-160 has been in The Top 50 since 2013. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  16. Thanks MarkSG We spent much time looking into how to list Milk Tank Wagons (and Milk Tank Trucks) this year. And we feel it paid dividends with six of the eight types at the top of the category. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  17. Hello everyone Firstly, a Happy New Modelling Year to you all!😀 Please find the results attached. Our aim is to be back in late 2023 with The Quirky Poll 2023 and follow that with The 00 Wishlist Poll 2024. Very many thanks to the voters who submitted suggestions just as we asked - those people have already been advised that their suggestions are on the 2024 Agenda. All the best Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team 1. Results - The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 - By Category.pdf 2. Results - The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 - Top-to-Bottom.pdf

  22. Hello John It is fascinating to watch your progress!👍 All the best for 2023! Brian
  23. Hello Peter But if everyone applied that logic, no-one would vote for anything.😀 You only have just over nine hours to vote! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  24. Hello D9020 Nimbus The Poll lists items not announced as 'new' since 2005. Top 50 from 2019 attached with announced items highlighted. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019 - Top 50 Only.pdf
  25. Agreed, Rob! As an aside, the use of the term I'll eat my hat brought back an abiding memory I have of trainspotting with pals at Potters Bar on the ECML in 1959. The prototype Deltic had recently arrived on the line but was still elusive to us as we could only go spotting at certain limited times. I said to my pals, If Deltic is on the next Up express, I'll eat my hat. It was!😀 Brian (speaking personally)
