I've made insulators by using some plastikard rod in a drill then match a razor saw blade as close to the original insulators. Spin rod, place blade against it and away you go! Cheers, Mark

I like the new loco. That was one of the few 47's that ran through singers station heading west in the late 80's. Sadly other than remembering names of locos I really didn't pay as much attention as I wished I had. Cheers, Mark

If your painting it Andy, what about a mix of A & B? When I get to my ballast I'll be doing a 4:1 or 3:1 mix of fine (4 or 3), medium (1) woodland scenics ballast once I've tested how it looks. Hi Andy, You do some great layouts but I'm wondering where you get the inspiration from? Is it from visits, holidays, DVD's or books? I just picked up Ian Futers "Scottish layout projects" and see he has another book "modelling Scottish railways". Have you read the second and do you have any modelling based recommendations? What a great layout, I think it's the first time I've come across it. Can you tell me why 47706 (scotrail) has the three colours in the cab side above the numbers? Your new 47 NSE looks good! I've always liked the livery, well to be honest, of all the english liveries it's the only one I would consider if I done a layout south of the border. All the rest just don't stand out. Mark

I'm salivating after catching up with this thread. What would you give to have all of these under the one roof? Loads if inspiration for all to see. No wonder Scotland's a popular subject particularly with these examples being selflessly exhibited for all to see. Thanks for posting for those that can't make it to some of the shows that are a little to far to make.

They are, but i believe at this time Hornby had the correct type of coach available in there range (although I could be wrong as I never really had a great interest in railway products at the time). But this must be my 7 or 8th Hornby purchase that are basically wrong. This just creates doubt in the believability of any Hornby product, for me personally. The joy felt on giving my son something he wanted is soon demonised by the fact that they never really were. Just more money wasted IMO. If my son decides to throw himself fully into the hobby I'll have to one day tell him his favourite coaches are just pure fiction/rubbish will totally deflate him and possibly his interest in the hobby.
