  1. Wow, Hornby does it again. Thanks Adrian. I do like the idea of utility vans but we already have the yellow crane. I think these will be used as is too keep a little boy happy with thoughts to replacements further down the line and these will be passed on or auctioned or just binned. Well I suppose it goes to show my naivety in all things on rails, but it does keep the wee yin happy. You never know they may even get a second lease of life as doners for future projects although nothing comes to mind.
  2. Well my Bachmann ones are mk1 full BG, so thats a none starter. With the Hornby being fictitious, that will explain why I couldn't find any prototype images. Many thanks, Mark
  3. It does look the same other than colour. I only got them as my son loves red trains and they were cheap (about £6 each). Not like some on eBay..... Buy now £32.95. I have a couple of Bachman coaches as well as a TPO. I could model them on the Bachmann version as long as its not fictitious. I'll go and see what I can find on that. If this is not possible, can someone confirm the type of carriage that Hornby has used as a bassis for this fictitious livery. Was I right in saying a mk1 brake? That way I can look at a more prototypical livery that will fit our layout plans. Many thanks, Mark Edited to correct productive text error.
  4. I'll try, never done it from my phone before (PC on the blink). Sorry I can't but if you don't mind looking at the link. Here it is. http://www.hornbyguide.com/item_details.asp?itemid=1262 According to this page the logo's are for years 1965-1997 but Fox transfers list three different sets in this time period. Many thanks, Mark
  5. Even if you change the name (edit your first post) I would prefer it to be continued on this thread as it is an evolution of the original idea. Best regards, Mark
  6. I have a couple of the Hornby Royal Mail coaches ( mk1 brake coach I think, feel free to correct me) which I have painted the roofs and coach ends (what a difference it's made). Now looking at them the windows look terrible and I'm thinking about puting proper frames in but the clear plastic window with printed frames don't give much away as how these should really look. Can someone with better knowledge of all things on rails tell me what year of post office carriage these were based on so I can start my google image searches. Thanks, Mark
  7. Hi, This appeared in Railway Modeller in either May, June or July of 2007. I did consider modelling Dalmally, Crianlarich, or Rannoch as they all have additional sidings for some extra movements but decided to go fictional, not because I think my modelling skills aren't good enough (modest, eh?) more because I don't have the knowledge of railways I believe is needed to satisfy the rivet counters. Best regards, Mark
  8. Scott, Fantastic video! I used to stay on the singer line years ago and was able to see lots of lovely loco's with passenger and freight. I told myself I would never have a 66 (no dogs on the side), but on my way home from Model Rail Scotland (2 years ago I think) we saw a First GBRf 66 run through Singers station so I bought one. My brother in-law works for Network Rail and told me most traction was done by EWS 66's, so purchased one of those (more for my five year old to have something he would recognise). Just Incase he saw a freightliner livery I bought one of those as well. The wife was pleased. lol Gary, Great video as well! Lots of dogs, but sadly I never saw my daily 37 thrash from 37410 which ran through Singers daily. Best regards, Mark
  9. Hi Eddie, After finding the video I searched google and it took me to your gallery on here. I know it was a one off with the 325's but I will be applying a dog to my 66. Best regards, Mark
  10. Hi Mark, I've just been through the thread again and notice your 66725 with the terrier on it. If you do a YouTube search for 66728 you will see it with the dog pulling 2x325's (can anyone expand on the youtube info?). Now I know what will be my next numbering job will be. Managed to figure out how to get the link from my phone app. Best regards, Mark
  11. Hi, I am relieved to hear the tape work for you, it's so easy to work with and capable of some unusual curves if treated carefully (circular warning marks found around warship weapon systems). I don't often recommend items to others because what works for me may not work for others. Looking forward to the pictures of the platforms. Best regards, Mark
  12. Hi, I've watched your 304 video, not that I would know how they sound although I read comments about it being like a 303. Simply not true! The news that you've done a 303 is great news! SWIMBO will be pleased...lol Can't wait for the video.
  13. Hi Mark, Good to here your still getting some modelling done. I've been patiently waiting for the next installments, looking forward to the photos. All the best, Mark
  14. Looking good, really coming on now. Another use for the lining is road markings. It lends itself to many uses. Best regards, Mark
  15. I read loads of posts covering this subject and the over all opinion is fine ballast mixed with a small amount of medium for texture. Best regards, Mark.
  16. Sorry I've not replied before now, but with all the forum problems I decided to steal clear until it looked like it had settled down. Things are looking great. Back to following with interest. Regards, Mark
  17. Grimleygrid, I've used this stuff for years on 1:72 & 1:96 scale warships for landing deck markings, water line, weapons safety markings, chevrons ( i hope thats the correct spelling)? I can't see any reason it won't work here in 1:76. Try not to pull it too tight, although I'm sure you new that. EDIT LINE- I usually peel back just enough for the job to check its been cut properly if not a scalpel soon sorts anything out. Keep us update on how it works for you. Best regards, Mark
  18. Dave, I'm sure along with me, there are lots of people on here watching every update with great enthusiasm. I'm looking forward too your expansion plans. Can't wait for more! Mark
  19. Oh, Br blue. One to follow. Keep the pictures coming! Best regards, Mark
  20. Mark & Phil, If I made it I would have been over for a chat. I nearly jumpy on a train on the Saturday afternoon but thought better of it as I would have came back with 3-4 more locos. Hay ho, the roof does look good though. Pity it shows up the rendering, that's the next thing on the list to do.
  21. Well I have had little time on my hands since or bundle of fun came along, but I still drop by now and then. I'm glad I do because this is looking real good and I'm looking forward to Ayr as I did not go to Glasgow this year. Decided to restore our roof instead as the temptation of buying some new locos would have pushed me over the edge. lol
  22. The crane is looking real nice now even with just the primer. I see you use Halfords primer, how much is that now £6.99, £7.99 a can? I've just picked up a can of this stuff to try http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290469083152?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 a fiver inc postage. Here are some better deals on it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310173090959?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250509872092?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 Can someone tell me how to post links as they were on the old software? All the best for now, Mark
  23. Hi Mark, Just had another look at page 13 as you suggested and I can see the effect you describe. Looking forward to seeing more. Mark
  24. I have a SWD sound with standards speaker supplied. You may have to turn the volume up as I reduced the volume by 50% when I produced it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESPqjGMQD50 EDIT, to get the link added showing a video screen. Mark
  25. Hi Mark, Great to see updates on the layout. It was also nice to meet you at the show, even if it was brief. I see the 26 in RF colours on this layout and confirmed I want one. I was just looking at them online yesterday. Still to get one of them, a 66 in EWS and a Black 5 and I think that will do us for locomotive power, just need to get on with some sort of layout to play with them. lol All the best, Mark
