  2. I dont like that when the panel shop boys have done their stuff, they load the car up with body filler or lob it up as we used to say then sand down for this perfect, glass smooth finish. It isnt very pleasant stuff polyester body filler, i generally used a mask but lots didnt and i often wonder if they made it to old age. The same using the then new 2 pack acrylic paint full of isocyanate, a deadly combination.

  4. Lovely there, my parents lived in Coverack, my mum was born there and we used to visit every few months from the early fifties. We used to get the train from Gwinear Road to Helston, they were happy days.

  6. Iranian's Navy ship Kharg has sunk, seems a bit suspicious? https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzGkXdCRVFzzNRzXgcvfVDvCSbCP
  7. I would say almost every day now there is a campervan on fire in this area and probably everywhere else and not just VW ones. Some folk are just ignorant when it comes to doing maintenance work as long as it looks ok and is legal. Plus most of the larger jobbies have a grp or some form of plastic body, removable roof section etc with ageing wiring etc. Did Vauxhall finally sort out the Zafira fire issues as they dont seem to pop up these days but i remember reading somewhere that other Vauxhalls can be prone to spotaneous combustion!
  8. Good question, would have thought this fellas pride and joy was pretty faultless but this happened none the less. https://www.vdubxs.com/protecting-a-vintage-vw-camper-from-your-worst-nightmare-an-engine-fire/
  9. It seems that VW campervans catch fire quite often usually in the engine compartment, not some i knew about till i googled it. There was one last week up on Dartmoor which took a square kilometer of gorse with it which took tens hours to control. The van was totally destroyed. Some owners now have a fire suppression system fitted to combat this.
  10. Probably not all piston engined but hey ho!
  11. Wonderful, could only be Russian, not as noisy as the TU 95 but not far off!
  12. Talking Pictures this week, Friday 3.35am IWM Fly With The RAF in the 1970s Also Saturday 6am, A Sunderland in Civvies
  13. Sonoma this weekend another road course. Hendrick Motorsports looking strong taking first three starting places with the 5 Kyle Larson, 9 Chase Elliot and 24 William Byron.
  14. What a coincidence, i have been on both. When i was at school in Ramsgate, in the sixties we went to Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne. I remember the music played through the tannoys!! Good trips they were, had my first experience of french ice cream in a triple cone. One was marzipan flavour!
  15. Look out for The Brass Monkey comedy thriller 1948 recently on Talking Pictures with Terry Thomas and Herbert Lom, he lived till he was ninety five!
  16. What is the identity of this ship on the Thames circa 1962 . It is before the credits from Inspector Gideon of the Yard, Talking Pictures tv channel The container ship with nitric acid in container. The coasts nearest to it are littered with wreckage.
  17. How much do the Dapol Mk.1s weigh, does anybody know? I have a rake of six Darstaeds and they are heavier than i thought they would be with some considerable rolling resistance compared to a rake of kit built parcel stock.
  18. The container ship with nitric acid in container. The coasts nearest to it are littered with wreckage.
  19. I see they are down to $550,000 now on the Ever Given saga. https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/international/2021/05/27/616116.htm Also from another source rumours of removing all the crew and abandoning the vessel, its current value is $100 million.
  20. Seems a lot of nasty 'stuff' is washing up on the coast, another environmental disaster looming.
  21. My days of envy have gone by, i find it difficult to kneel down now so doing anything meanful has passed. I used to drool on Wednesdays when the Snap On man used to call with his van full of goodies. He now has sub titles i see. I like the real time repairs he does, just find it interesting to see what has changed/improved in car repairs/rebuilds.
  22. I see Edd China is upto no.8 of his series on Youtube, doing some work on the Mini based Outspan orange.
