  1. I've not seen mine yet, joined several weeks ago๐Ÿง๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” I'm looking forward to seeing how the 08 pans out, if it's as nice as their OO version it should be cracking ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š I've a few ideas for a Shelfie layout. Not sure what can be used in conjunction with the 3mm society - I'd prefer to use DG couplings etc.
  2. Some of us did/have (hoped it wouldn't come true) it's not hard to follow the TPTB and their machinations when gets their head around such. Even if not, decent management can use basic analytical tools such as; PEST and SWOT๐Ÿ‘โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰
  3. In addition, allowing for shift patterns too?
  4. Nice work Stephen, I've done similar with Foamaluxยฎ (exterior quality foamboard), it works well and is fairly therapeutic too๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
  5. I wonder what the schedules are? I don't think they're doing the B&C livery with window repair frames - which, kind of, makes sense.
  6. Hi Keith, AFAICT there were fifteen 03s that worked the line. I can't identify D2185 as being one of them. Please read on..... I could concur with that, the loco was photographed on the line a fair bit, certainly part of the roster for the HB. However... D2182 worked the last train on the branch - perhaps Flicker photo is a typo? I hope that helps guys.
  7. I like Brake Van railtours, I've been trying to build one in O for about twenty years! Yours look glorious btw!
  8. Things are changing dramatically - much of which could be avoided if there was the will, dare I say, a political will. Not sure where all of this - great reset - will end up. I'm also finding in other walks of life that the quality of products out of China is a real Russian Roulette issue in terms of quality and safety. At long last UK companies are slowly withdrawing to manufacture elsewhere. I'm having to rethink my modelling too. I'm also trying to rehabilitate from Cov SARS2 Alpha from back in March 2020, that's taken its toll and some are even worse off. I'm having to relearn things, my memory has been affected. I'm a long way from being out of the woods and it's slow progress. I think for many they will realise that cheap debt and shiny new things were like fools gold (the interest on savings was deliberately surpressed). Real, austerity could come to the fore again. What concerns me in the 21st century is forced obsolescence and the longevity of products due to 'green' issues. Eg a well treated wooden fence post would last 10-20 years, nowadays? Even if pre treated some builders report post failure in 3 years. In the 20th century, austerity was offset with make, do and mend (or make do, and, mend), many things can't be mended now, consumerism is king.
  9. Cracking looking pre-pro sample, but at the new price point? Needs second thoughts from my POV.
  10. I wondered why I hadn't heard from them for awhile (they and thus, I, were waiting on semiconductors iirc). Its a great shame, it showed lots of potential. I wish them well.
  11. Thanks HN, That's exactly what I needed to know. I agree they're very good, well designed, I'm guessing that's down to Richard W's input. Although they are a little fragile in places too. Many, many thanks. Kindest regards in haste, CME
  12. I worked a KX in the late 1990s, got to visit the model shop once or twice, I was too busy in reality. But venture outside the offices for food etc (I got to know some salt of the Earth cafe owners) was a real education and at times quite disturbing.
  13. Hi HN, Thanks, much appreciated, I understand your second paragraph, but not the first, sorry, probably my ineptitude. The Voltage Regulator box can be snipped off with Xurons - how satisfying๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘ Sounds like the Battery boxes are a stiff drink and get on with it job๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค” They can't be cut out as they're too near to underframe trussing. Returning to your first paragraph are you referring to weathering the chassis and running gear by removing the sides and interiors? OR does the chassis come away with undoing the crosshead screws that are underneath?๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” Many thanks again. Kindest regards ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š
  14. Does anyone know if (and how) the battery boxes can be removed, the Voltage Regulator frame too? Thanks in anticipation ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
  15. A really useful photo, thanks for posting ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
  16. I can but refer you to the Bible on MK1s as a clue, without looking, I seem to recall several lined Maroon MK1s with modified windows within. The rot around the windows is referred to in the book and, again, iirc, corrosion was noticed within 2-5 years of the introduction of the MK1s.
  17. I pondered such too, but several posts back one poster shared a blue grey or two with original windows. At that time, 1970s, there were MK1s with unmodified windows, modified windows and some with extra door hinge plating, bottom edge of floor side plating and modified windows. The latter situation occurred more and more into the 1980s. Eg. Heljan's MK1s seem to follow the version of the prototype with reinforced door hinges/surrounds. If one was VERY careful and perhaps shaped and painted them first, perhaps EZ Build modified window etches could be added to the Dapol MK1s. From the mouldings of the Dapol MK1s, although a bit heavier in profile due to the substrate being plastic, the window surrounds are prototypical, but appear to cater for the later windows too? Thus Dapol may produce those in time, depending upon demand. I hope that helps. ATVB CME
  18. That signal box is gorgeous Stephen - can you remind me of the kit manufacturer please. Thanks. Best wishes, Martin
  19. I wonder if they can be remotely uncoupled (not that such is a requirement on a rake of MK1s)?
