  1. Hi everyone, here are the latest versions of the centre headcode version of the Baby Deltic model in N gauge. I hope to be able to show you the updated cad/cams of the 23 with disc headcodes later this week. C+C welcome as always. cheers Dave
  2. Posted in this section will be cad/cams of the development of the N gauge class 23 'Baby Deltic' locomotive. Both centre headcode and disc headcode will feature. Please note this model has a coreless motor, flywheels, low friction mechanism and for the first time in UK N gauge a European style NEM close coupling mechanism, along with directional lighting, low friction mechanism, RP25.72 darkened wheel sets, DCC 6 pin decoder socket, etched fan grill with fan visible beneath. As ever, comments etc are welcome. We acknowledge the kind assistance of 'The Baby Deltic Project' with this model. http://www.thebabydelticproject.co.uk/
  3. This will be Kernow's choice as it's their model and 'brand'. I'd imagine colours along the same lines as the established Beattie well tank.
  4. I have an inch of hail covering the patio. Big thunder storm up here too!

  5. Hi Peter, Kernow have published the decorations that they gate stock will have. I typed 'kernow gate stock' into google and it lists them all. As for the timescale? I am currently awaiting the transfer authority to be sent to the factory in China for me to be able to check the current cad/cams. Once I've done that and made some changes I'm currently talking to Kernow about, I would hope we can start metal cutting soon. However, it's only speculation depending on how much work has been done, or not, on the cad/cams. I'm sure I'll be able to firm that up soon, and through Kernow and here, let you all know. Cheers Dave
  6. Product announcements will appear here and please feel free to ask questions on the project that you would like answered. Please note not all questions will be answered quickly due to the on going development of them.
  7. Nero fiddled while Rome burned, apparently someone else likes to do that too!

Nero's mum should have stitched up his pockets to stop him fiddling.

  8. Tooling for these was authorised in June this year but both were stopped at my then CEO's request. Nothing was wrong with the cad/cams at all. When I left at the middle of August tooling had yet to resume. Also I hadn't done any deco artwork for them or gotten nameplates and crests made for approval. HTH Dave
  9. Lies, damn lies, and statistics! Really? I'd add pure fantasy to this list!

Lol slightly. Saying something is one thing, but multiple libels are another!

  10. I have no idea myself as I didn't approve any buffets for production from decorated samples. The artwork was for Buffet Bar 125 on one I seem to remember, but senility has crept in and I can't promise. What's sure is that it's been approved before the new guys got taken on as otherwise you'd be looking at a minimum of mid December delivery.
  11. I don't know, I just don't know anymore. Where has the phrase 'the customer is king' gone? Standards have really slipped, that's for sure!

If the customer is no longer King, then perhaps there's been a revolution and he's lost his head! Where's the Committee for Public Safety when you need it?

  12. Hi everyone, A quick update for the layout. I've finished the track plan, and due to space constraints the baseboards are down and stored for a month while I get a few things for the layout. Richard from CRS sent me some test etchings for his new GWR foorbridge, and I have suggested some changes to the etching that he's looking at making, but believe me, what a lovely model, and id recommend it to anyone once available. I'm currently making some loco inspection platforms for the engine shed Laira 'look alike' that I shall start making soon based around pictures of the real thing. However i'm extrapolating sizes based on doorways for locos, the platforms and clearances required. Carl of 'Vale of Oxbury' fame has managed to get me a gearbox/motor conversion kit for my Peco turntable (which needs modifying) so that's also something that will feature heavily on the layout. Lastly, master modeller Mercig Studios has sent me his latest creation for me, and for your delectation, I present the pictures of this model below. Pure art from the best in the business. cheers Dave

  14. Hi Jeff, I couldn't possibly and of course won't speak on their behalf. Sorry mate. Cheers Dave
  15. When I left in August, there were still more than a considerable handful of things that needed doing on the JA & JB versions that hadn't been touched on the cad/cam when I left. Obviously this project is now down the the new guys to take forward and they've only been in situ 30 days, leaving them no chance to identify changes, let alone having the cad cam altered and subsequently approved for metal cutting. Remember its 6 weeks or so to lay out the tool, them at least another 6-8 wheels to tool themodel with slides for the 2 main versions. This means a first shot (taking into account CNY) possibly for Ally Pally 14 if the cad/cam got altered and signed off by today. HTH Dave
  16. Although it was my baby, I can't possibly say. It may possibly take 2-3 years if it was started today. Again I had a few ideas, but they more than likely all have their own regarding progress now.
  17. Hi Mick, That was the deal I brokered. 68001 & possibly 68002 were to be the 'exclusive' models, however since my departure things may have changed. Cheers Dave

    Dapol 'Western'

Glad i put these guys together as it helps put funds in the DTG kitty.
  19. Hi, When i left the capstan on the traverser was indeed broken and looked unlikely for repair anytime soon. However i have since figured out a way round those associated problems, and maybe one of the newbies might have had that same thought process allowing them to do the model. Cheers Dave
  20. I did ask for the 88 at the same time but DRS were non committal. Which was fair enough, 1 deal at a time.
  21. When I went up to DRS and brokered the deal for the 68 and the wagon, it was between Dapol, Hornby and Bachmann ( 2 big names to go head to head with, and indeed Simon Kohler and I walked in together). I knew I presented a great package to them as I was in the meeting well over an hour. Subsequently I learned in April that Dapol would be given the nod, based on my presentation, and I'm very glad that it's now been officially announced. I think the only thing that will have altered since I left might be my delivery dates as I quoted (taking into account the availability of finished external cad/cams of the real thing) 9 months to DRS for the launch models. Given Dapol's stated consolidation this proposal may well have been renegotiated. I'm glad Dapol get a bite of the cherry with this one.
  22. Hi mate, Dapol didn't ask me to sign a non disclosure so I could spill everything! However if I did that who would buy my book? ;-)
  23. Well it's only a month from Warley so an announcement of some sorts wouldn't surprise me tbh.
