Colin: yes, I just checked, they will be there. They're always friendly and great to have a chat to, they even remembered me and asked after me whenever Natalie saw them, even though I'd not been to exhibitions for over 5 years! Always make a point of going and having a chat with them at shows if they're there.

Metr0land: The layout isn;'t going to very big, and the engineers trains not all that long really, but i might get some of the Bachmann 3 planks also. But the reason to get the SEF ones is to have a go at a affordable/simple WM kit rather than start with a loco (have an SR P by SEF to do at some point, and a Bulleid WC by Westward iirc).

  18. My brother took his 3-year old grandson to B&H Models in Lincoln to get some Airfix plane kits....and came out with a Hornby digital freight set. Spoke to him last night and he's already ordered track packs from Hattons to fill the Track Mat in the set. Today he's out buying wood for the baseboard. Let's hope the Grandson gets hooked.

Bangor Lad - thanks :) yes Motorhead/ACDC/et al get my vote too! :) ; The Nth Degree - I've never liked the idea of hanging them from the ceiling, knowing my luck i'd stab an eye out on the refueling probe. Think I'll go the diorama route, as it gives me an excuse to also module the ground support equipment too :)

I used to mainly do 1/72 and 1/48 scale aircraft, had lots of room back then at my parents house. Now I've not the room to do any of them really, which is a shame. But still think I'll do a Lighning and/or Vulcan diorama at some stage. As for Coventry, I'm near Canley.

  22. Grr, trying to get on with this Airfix Corsair, but theres a mistake in the colours, it says sea blue but it should be midnight blue. Now I've got to go to the shops, which I didn't want to do today.

1216 025 there exist good solutions for the metal finish now i believe, alclad or something like that, from what i saw in a magazine a few years back, it worked really rather well.

1216 025 yes I often found them a bit beyond me, so tended to go for the simpler ones as I lacked an airbrush (still do). Cold War jets are far far simpler in comparison lol!

1216 025: but Luftwaffe camo schemes are so wonderful! .. until you try to paint them!; Coldgunner - thanks for that :) often I find the Airfix kits leave a bit to be desired when compared to Hasegawa or Tamiya kits, which tended to be my preference.
