  1. Hi all, At 201mph that must be a world record for a class 37. Are DRS using rocket fuel? Vin
  2. Hi all, Speaking of the modern traction on the ECML (there are quite a few steam photos), did anyone get a photo of the class 26 in BR blue parked outside Doncaster works on Friday? Great photos, Vin
  3. Hi all, 66106 is either inside a possession as it's on the wrong line, or its at the back end of a top and tailed train. As it has a tail lamp in the cab window. As for the crane in the background? Regards Vin
  4. Hi all, It's been a good day, yesterday the 1004 Preston to Barrow left Preston 2 minutes late @ 1006 with 37423 at the helm and 37419 trailing. With several quarter miles timing at 11.1 seconds. The arrival at Barrow was 11.37 because of the speed restrictions before Barrow. 37609 & 37402 doing the honours for the second diagram. I'll have to upload the photos later. Regards Vin
  5. Cheers Long Island Jack, It must have been before the floods the last time I was there. That trestle bridge always looked the worst for wear even when in use! How many DBSO's has DRS got ready for the services? Surely a pool of three will be required for maintenance swaps. Regards Vin
  6. Hi John H, The siding leads into the port of Workington complex. It is the northern entry/exit point, as it can be entered from the back of the station with a reversal over a single track bridge. Regards Vin
  7. Hi Mick, Thanks for the info on the DBSO's, I did think that these diagrams is why they bought them in the first place. Why are Northern rail making out that loco hauled is a bad subsitution for rancid DMU's that should have been scrapped 10 years ago? As the pacer fleet was only a cheap stop gap in the first place. Many thanks Vin
  8. Hi all, Are the DBSO's going to be used on these diagrams? Regards Vin
  9. At the moment anything UK based is up for grabs (at a price). They know what they are doing in freight haulage and transfers and they have many fingers in many pies. Freightliner is another string to their bow. Will it bring harmony and integrated freight movement, who knows? Rwgards Vin
  10. Hi all, The centre picture is 31309 Cricklewood. Is it dirt or does it have a black roof? Regards Vin
  11. I thought it wouldn't be the best. At least if you sat behind the driver or second mans position you'd get a good view. Regards Vin
  12. How did a 3 car set keep time on a York run? Regards Vin
  13. Hi Chris, You've captured the feel of the moment in your photos and not just the 3/4 shot of locos that everybody else did at the time. You've encompassed the surroundings which dates the photos. By that I mean the trees and shrubbery isn't overgrown and the stations tired but not neglected (or over advertised). Regards Vin
  14. Hi all, The first three photos must be from the 1984 works open day. The first I went too. Great weather, great locos and a fantastic atmosphere. The western region must have been saying ' where are our locos' !!! Vin
  15. Hi all, What about the Colas ones and the Europhoenix Tractor? Or am I just dreaming!! Regards Vin
  16. iPhone was too quick. I should have mentioned the line side fire on Sunday near Huddersfield because of network rail not clearing it as they did in the early to mid nineties, but that's another thread and discussion! I only saw 003 once at Reading in '90 after a very drunk bloke tried to flag down a freight train at about 2am. The BTP pounced on him straight away. Happy days!!!! Vin
  17. Hi Daz, Progress is good, I've even got my mate casting seat parts. All I need to do is paint them. Speaking of seats, does anyone know what colour the second class seats in the DTF where when originally fitted? They are the ones between the driving cab and the corridor first section which are of the IC70 design in a 2+2 formation and first class spacing. Regards Vin
  18. Hi all, This build is coming on slowly (working away from home doesn't help) but surely! I have now finished the other bogies and put the Slaters pickups on them as well. The problem I'm having at the moment is that I'm on the fourth roof master. Even with the mk3 roof profile plans it still doesn't look right. When I get home I'll take some photos for a bit of constructive criticism. I think I'll have to split the roof into 3 sections. 1st section. A panel for no.1 end which is glued to the body and finishes before the roof ribs start. This will give strength to the main body and ends. It also stops light bleed from the DCC lighting. 2nd section. The full length of the roof with ribs and vents which houses an embedded strip of LEDs (easy when casting in white resin with black resin dye to stop the light bleeding through the roof). 3rd section. The same as the 1st. Regards Vin
  19. Cheers Pugsley, I thought it was around June/July 1991 but photos seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Regards Vin
  20. Hi all, The photo at Bath Road was taken in the summer of 1991. 47492 was in the parcels sector as was 47704 behind it. 47704 was a definite candidate for a Scotrail class 47 at Penzance as it wasn't repainted until November 1991. As for the Hymek. When was the Bath Road open day in 1991? Vin
  21. Hi, 37148 is in the now demolished Doncaster works as is 37506 before it was converted to 37604 in the mid nineteen nineties. 37165 is in Crewe works late 1987 just before triple grey Railfreight was introduced and before it became a 37/3 with CP7 bogies. As for 37153 the location looks familiar but I just can't put my finger on it. Regards Vin
  22. It should have the blue solebar but I think the new logo colour will make the solebar stand out too much. I've noticed their website hasn't changed the Phoenix colour so It maybe a one off? Regards Vin
  23. Nice livery but it's a shame that they have done away with the blue solebar and roof sections. Vin
