  1. Swedish passenger services if loco hauled did have a vehicle for parcels and baggage, frequently a van with a stove and a workstation for the conductor on the train The book on the rolling stock is: Svensson, Jan-Olov (1992). En beskrivning av den rullande materielen vid Dala-Ockelbo-Norrsundets järnväg : 1876-1970

  3. 4. A couple of days later including some "interesting" driving through a set of roadworks I had a chance to visit the TGOJ Museum at Grängesberg. An old coach from one of the TGOJ's constituents the Örebro - Köping Railway (originally the Köping - Hults Railway which opened in mid 1856). A trio of diesels - left to right a SJ class V3 No 43, TGOJ Z1 No 22 (Deutz 1955), TGOJ Z4 (SJ class Z43) No 9 (KVAB 1941) More shunters, TGOJ Z5 No 33 (SJ class Z64)(Deutz 1955), TGOJ Z3 No5 (KVAB 1935) Another view of Numbers 33 & 5 with GBBJ Z6 No1 (H&S Germany 1964) Ex SJ drasine and a couple of rail-bikes hiding in the yard A closer view of the railbike

Continuing on in the Hagfors museum here is No 102 "Munkfors" ASEA 1960 - as you can see space was somewhat limited 0-4-2T No 1 "Ua" (Henry Hughes 1874 with the amended ab and rear axle added around 1900) She is fitted with a turbine spark arrestor on the chimney Another view of No 33 from the front this time she is a 1-C-1 loco. I am not sure about the dummy leaning against the loco No 5 "Lovisa Tranæa" (0-6-2T Avonside 1875) No 7 "Hagfors" 0-6-2T NOHAB 1883, the second photo shows that some work is needed on her
  8. No but is a shame that they cannot run the historic locos up there in future..
  9. Moving on to 2010 I had a family tour of central Sweden which included visiting a number of railway museums where plenty of digital photos were taken. This included a number of detail photos for modelling purposes - I will post them if people are interested.. The first train was found at Sunne - Y31 1420 The local youth hostel where we were staying had an old general store as part of the buildings The following day there was a visit to the Hagfors industrial landscape Some internal user wagons Then on to the Hagfors railway museum, which covers the former Nordmark-Klarälvens Järnvägar (NKlJ) an electrified 891mm gauge system owned by Uddeholm AB (there was some standard gauge operated by SJ as a contractor before being transferred to Banverket at some point after the narrow gauge was removed in 1983 ). The rest of the network was closed down over a number of years with the end coming in 1991. The section Hagfors-Stjärnsfors still exists and is used for bicycle drasine hire. The NKLJ had two steam inspection drasines - number 1 (Lund 1900) survives AEG electric No33 from 1920
  10. You are quite correct, I don't think there was an E1 class. What it does prove is that I should not be typing when tired!
  11. The highlight of Sunday was the chance to have a ride behind the Dm3 set to Ockelbo in a rake of 190's coaches. I am not sure what the dyed trees were about... Coming back into Gävle we came across Ra 987 and X16 960 in the coach yard The AGEVE wagon works yard as we approached the museum The running shed from the approach to the museum An E1 class 2-8-0 in the motorway services just outside Gävle

Another view of SNJ No10 Super power in the shape of the Dm3 set, which was about to haul an excursion An unidentified Z43/Z49 moving F1200 (probably no 111 the Railway Museum's example) There was even British steam on site in the form of a 7 1/2" gauge LNER B1
  14. Sunday was another lovely day and we were down at the museum bright and early, I took a chance to wonder round and have a look at the exhibits in the museum building and the various trade stands which occupied a couple of the bays. No 93 "Jernsida" (Ironsides) 0-6-0 BP 1866, in fact much of the preserved loco is mainly No "Vik" (Bay), but "Ironsides" sounds better.. The somewhat busy trade area. Outside the the Mg 620 and D101 were to be found Also NSB Museum's "Caroline" on a rake of vintage coaches Wondering round the yard there were plenty of steam locos on shed )2 B Class 4-6-0 class and GDJ 62 0-8-0 4-4-0 Cc 404, being cleaned B 1135 with a piece of 2" x 4" holding up part of the valve gear

Next Sunday morning...

  19. There was a lot of waiting at Storvik before I managed to get onto a train back to Gävle OKB No 24 on the front of some preserved OKB coaches coming in from Ockelbo The Stins (station inspector) waving the train off towards Gävle TGOJ Bt 305 on the front of the TGOJ train which I managed to use to get back to Gävle Central, it was packed like a commuter train on a Friday night.... On arrival at Gävle the railway band was playing The rake of Y6 & Y7 class railbusses being used as a local shuttle A close up of the coach yard. Locos visible from left to right are of classes Mg, Ma, Z67, F, Y6, X60. Class X2000 high speed tilt train on its way north, with a local Regina unit to the right.
  20. Continuing on with the train spotting: Green Cargo Rc4 1107 leading a timber train south Rc2 1132 on a southbound mixed freight Wood bodied D109 (ASEA 1925) leading the 1930's train back to Gävle B1038 (4-6-0), leading a short demonstration freight Finally the bus dropped us off a Storvik station from where we were expected to find our own way back to Gävle which turned out to be an issue due to the running issues. Getting onto the platform we found a "date box" of 1242 class Y7
  21. On to the Saturday morning, there were three possible options for excursions : -Ride trains on the triangle of lines running Gävle - Storvik - Ockelbo -Travel to the large museum store on the northern side of Gävle -Take a bus tour along on of the lines with opportunities for track-side photography. 3We opted to take the bus tour option which with hindsight may have not been the best option as there were issues with the running of special vintage services on the main line due to a broken point and Gävle and the timetable being slightly too ambitious. So bright and early on Saturday we walked from the museum to Gävle Central and while waiting for the bus went onto the platforms to see what was going on. We found Rc2 1120 in the station along with the Norwegian preserved electric EL1 2001, behind them the coach yard can been seen with trains ready for the off The bus...vintage of course. The driver was having a cuppa while we were waiting for things to happen Tågkompaniet Regina set on a service train. The first of the vintage trains, Green Cargo Rc4 1290 repainted into the "classic" Rc class livery hauling a rake of 1960's coaches in the traditional red/brown Du 432 on the front of a 1930's train made up of mainly class B6 commuter coaches with D 109 bring up the rear TGOJ (Trafikaktiebolaget Grängesberg–Oxelösunds järnvägar) Bt 305 (ASEA 1955) hauling a rake of mainly 1950's TGOJ coaches (the leading vehicle is a 1960's SJ F5 repainted into TGOJ green)
  22. I am glad that you got a photo of her, I am sure there was plenty to see that I didn't get to or get a chance to photograph.
  23. Let me know if you spot yourself though there were a lot of people there
  24. NMJ are releasing something on the 3rd I believe
  25. No 24 is an inside cylinder machine unfortunately I cannot find any side on photos and as she is based in Sundsvall I do not get to see her that often (https://okbv.se/arkiv/okbv_rullande/okbv_anglok_main2.html)
