  1. Upto and including the July issue all have been delivered within two weeks of publication date, however the August issue seems to have gone astray enroute to Ireland. Peco have informed me that they are gooing to send a replacement copy.
  2. Have any overseas subscribers recived thier printed copy yet? I emailed the RM subs department yesterday (Thurs 4th Aug) and they have replied say that they have had some issues with the August copy being sent to Ireland. Email reply from RM, I have replaced the names with xxx "Dear Mr XXXX Thank you for your email, we appear to have several customers in Ireland whose issues have gone astray this month. I will put a replacement in the post for you asap. Regards XXXXXXX Subscriptions"
  3. If its a bother why can you not just delete the emails, or if they are getting to be a nuicence then why dont you block them? When I get any emails, be it marketing or what ever, I quicky scan the subject (without opening the email) and if it looks to be of interest then I will open and read it, if not I will just delete it. No problem.
  4. A lot of information relating to this has been discussed here;
  5. More info here, https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-61958813
  6. Anpost are back to their antics once again. Today in the post had a card telling me I have to pay customs charges on my recent order from Hatton's. Does not say what it is for until you put in the customs/tracking info on the Anpost website. After last summers shenanigan's with Anpost things appeared to be fine until now. As usual Anpost customer service were helpful as usual, Not!!!
  7. It got nicknamed the 'Doodle Bug' when I was at Watford back in the day.
  8. RIP Meatloaf, 'Like a Bat out of Hell'

    1. truffy

      truffy

I had the first album, who didn’t?, but Steinman was a bit overblown for me. Nevertheless, the meat man seemed like a pretty chill guy. RIP

  9. More or less the same here in Ireland but is seems that Anpost (Irish postal system) are making aright meal of it.
  10. No not as yet, however if its not delivered tomorrow I will email Hattons about the order and will also ask if they would be able to use DPD for shipping.
  11. Has anyone had any orders or delivery's from Hatton's this year? If so did you encounter any problems or delays? Ordered an item on 5th January, posted 6th January, Royal Mail 3-5 day delivery, as yet 20th January nothing. Pity Hatton's don't use DPD to ship to Ireland. Ordered an item from Screwfix.ie on Monday, it being shipped from England and will be delivered today. If DPD can deliver why can't Anpost?
  12. The downloaded files are PDF's. Quality will depeand on printer and type of paper you use. Hope this helps. Regards, John
  13. You can have it on PC, tablet and smartphone, the only thing with the PC version is that you can only view it online, or download individual pages unlike tablet or smartphone where you can dowload to read off line.
  14. I was going to get a copy from Book Depository, but on their website now says 'no longer available'. Was due end of September.
  15. It does seem that Ireland is worse than the rest of the EU for receiving post at the moment. It looks like An post (the Irish Postal service) seem to be having problems with the new import rules. This message appears on the Royal Mail International incidents update site, this was Highlighted by a fellow modeller on another forum that I am a member of. https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5317 Start date: 16th September 2021 Latest Update: 16th September 2021 End date: Ongoing Incident: Customs delays Latest Update We’re sorry for the disruption some customers are experiencing with some services to Ireland at the moment. This disruption is being caused by the implementation of new import controls which are resulting in the return of some items by the Irish Customs authorities. Royal Mail remains in discussions with our postal partner, AnPost with a view to help identify new processes that could improve the flow of mail items into Ireland and reduce the return of items. In parallel, we have a number of potential alternative services business customers may want to use to post to Ireland including Click and Drop .. We’ll provide further updates to customers as we have them.
  16. Hi George, No invoice involved, it is/was a gift from my brother in law from England. Tried yesterday to explain to Anpost customer service on live chat (eventually) but they just fobbed you off with excuses an seem to be treating it as a business transaction and not personal gift. I will be taking this further. This is the transcript from my online chat yesterday before the An post agent ended the chat. Spoke to brother in law and he said he put value £20.00 and model railway items on the packet. Obviously the staff in the Dublin 12 sorting office can not be bothered to read! My comments in blue italics on in the chat. Seán 17:06 Hi, john how can we help ? john 17:07 I want to know why my letter was not delivered and may be sent back. Seán 17:11 checking the tracking it seems that the item has been processed to be returned to sender I’m afraid. The customs declaration which was provided electronically was insufficient. I would advise to refer to the sender to arrange for the item to be re-issued with the correct information (as per the changes introduced on 1st July) once it arrives back in the country of origin. If you check our website here: https://www.anpost.com/Media-Centre/News/Customs-declaration-Postal-items you will be able to see what information is required for an item to be cleared. I am sorry I cannot offer you a more favourable update on the item today but I hope this information helps you! john 17:13 it is a gift from a family member. why was i not informed about this and why is it being sent back what did it say on the declaration form? Seán 17:14 It looks to be missing something called a TARIC code. You'll need to ask the sender to ensure that complete electronic data accompanies the item including a 10 digit TARIC code. They can visit our TARIC code finder to see exactly what information is needed: https://www.anpost.com/Commerce/Parcel-Solutions/International-Parcels/Find-a-TARICCommodity- code john 17:16 so why can it not be delivered? It must cost more to send back to uk and postage already paid for delivery to Ireland Seán 17:19 As advised it failed its clearance check due to the declaration issue and therefore had to be returned for the information to be fixed. We cannot deliver the item if it fails this. john 17:21 What happens now, Tracking says will 'try and return to sender which dont sound hopeful. and the package contained model railway items which are except from customs charges and is a gift from family. Seán 17:23 The item was scanned leaving last night, the tracking will update on the Royal Mail website showing it being delivered back to the sender. They an then get this info fixed and have the item resent and then there should be no issues. john 17:25 so what you are saying is that we can not longer send items to our family between UK & Ireland now. This was not a business or sales transaction. Read Seán 17:28 As long as the item is sent with the correct customs information there would be no issues with the item coming in. Unfortunately I have given you all the information I can. It was nice talking to you have a great day. Seán has closed the chat. How would you r
  17. Back in the day as a Second Man we had a turn working the 02:04 newspaper train to Nottingham, usual power was a class 45/1, but one day we had a 31/4, We tuned the ETH off until we got up speed so yes it does give more power.
  18. Yes An Post is the Irish equivalent of Royal Mail. As I mentioned in earlier post, I have no problem with out local postie and the staff in the local post offices, but the customer service staff in Dublin do not have a clue and just fob you off with feeble excuses! Still waiting for a satisfactory response as to why they have supposedly sent two parcels back despite paying the custom's VAT on one of them.
  19. This morning it is worse then ever! Using google chrome, still same if I use Firefox. As others have previously mentioned, I have not problems with the ads, I have got used to them, but these latest ones are just a right pain.
  20. Avoid using Anpost is sending items to and from Ireland. They are now a complete sham! Anpost is now a complete joke! Just checked on progress of package sent from my Brother in law from England, now its being sent back. Track says 'we could not deliver your post. We will try to return to sender'!!! 1. Why could they not deliver? they have not even tried. 2. What do they mean by 'We will try to return it to sender' the following copied & pasted from Anpost tracking info. 21 September 2021 22:42 We could not deliver your post. We will try to return it to the sender. 20 September 2021 13:19 Your delivery has been sorted DUBLIN MAIL CENTRE, DUBLIN 12 20 September 2021 13:18 We have your post in DUBLIN MAIL CENTRE, DUBLIN 12 20 September 2021 13:17 Your delivery was received by An Post in DUBLIN MAIL CENTRE, DUBLIN 12
  21. Update Had one of two parcels from Hatton's delivered this morning (both shipped at same time). Still no response from Ecomm about the other parcel (for SHMBO) which Anpost have decided to send back to sender, Who told them to as we certainly did not? Chatting to our postie this morning, apparently the latest thing is Anpost/customs will not release or dispatch any parcels until the VAT/Custom's charges have been paid on the whole batch or consignment. , seems that they are getting in a right mess with it and maybe why some items are being set back despite the VAT/charges being paid! Why can they just not send the parcel out once you have paid. Quote from the receipt of the VAT we paid on 10th September. "We will now deliver your item to the below address:"
  22. After no delivery's today I contacted An post customer services by live chat (eventually) to ask what has happened to the parcel. They told me that it is now being returned to the sender despite paying the additional VAT! An post are right con artist. Quote from the live chat earlier:- Gerard 10:36 "This item was scanned as send for delivery on the 10th however it was then =scanned to be processed for return to sender on the 16th, I would advise that you contact the Ecomm team on ecommchargequery@anpost.com and they will be able to clarify what is happening with this item." Have emailed this Ecomm team but so far no reply. It seems to be a common problem with An post having looked at their facebook and trust pilot reviews. https://www.facebook.com/AnPost https://ie.trustpilot.com/review/www.anpost.ie It seems that Royal Mail or whoever is shipping are applying the correct labelling but Anpost can not be asked to read the codes or information correctly. Is this just a problem in Ireland or is anyone else in the EU having similar problems with their postal service?
  23. A week after paying the customs charges still no parcel! An post are just using Brexit as an excuse to make money charging €3.50 for every parcel. Would not be surprised if there profits increase this year. An post customer service is a complete waste of time they just fob you off with some feeble excuse. Fourth parcel that has had this problem, Will have to investigate taking this further. Just not good enough, they are quick to take your money but not honouring their delivery agreement.
  24. Latest ad I just had is for washing machines. Maybe I should launder my model railway stash lol Ironically the ad popped up when I clicked on this thread.
