  1. That's true but Bachmann's current terms and conditions prohibit discounts above 15% for new releases (3 months iirc) so shopping around rarely makes any difference. My main gripe is their policy not to do business with anyone who doesn't have a 'bricks and mortar' shop. I wanted to open an online only store a couple of years back but was told that unless I had a shop then unfortunately it was a no go as they wouldn't supply any goods. Having an online only store would have considerably reduced any overheads which would have been passed on to customers. Their current practices are in my opinion anti-competitive and are a factor is keeping prices high. Regarding the original post, how's this for a bargain - Hattons own words - 1x HHA wagon = £33.96 or mega pack 4x HHA wagons = £135.84. Not quite the bargain they claim really!
  2. Do turning fans really make a difference to your enjoyment of the model? I've never been to an exhibition where I've walked away from a layout disappointed that the loco's fans weren't turning!

  4. Top work as usual Nick. Love the self portrait btw!
  5. Try Precision Labels. They have the HQA versions.
  6. I'm a bit miffed at Hattons at the moment. I placed an order last Wednesday for items that were in stock and I've only just received an email to say it's being shipped today! How and in what order are orders processed? They seriously need to up their game....there are others particularly a Bristol based retailer that manages to pick, despatch and deliver within 48 hours at the latest.
  7. Not sure what all the fuss about weathering by Bachmann is all about....their preporoduction images of weathered models never look like the finished model!
  8. Keith, It may be worth phoning Charlie with your credit card details even if they have not changed since you placed your online order. When you place an order online and pay with a credit card what in effect is happening is that the retailer is asking your credit card issuer to 'hold' funds to the value of your order until the retailer is ready to despatch your order at which point the actual transaction takes place and your card is actually debited. This 'hold' is not indefinite and will expire at some future point. Your order was placed in November 2014 and was ready to be shipped in May 2015 - 7 months. This may be the reason for the card being declined. If you submit your card details again and they are declined then you may need to contact your card issuer. HTH
  9. Top man Bif. Sorry I missed you at DEMU although Charlie relieved me of a wad of cash! See you next time.

  12. An interesting demo at DEMU Jon. Appreciate the time showing what the cutter was capable of and for answering what were, in all probability, very basic questions from me. Cheers.
  13. They are the finished set as I was told by Denis Lovatt on Saturday. The models are currently on board a ship heading this way apparently.
