  1. Lovely rake of LGW wagons Eric, what did they carry? Love the other shots too, especially Humorist with its funny ears! Cheers Tony
  2. My “pic” for this current poll:
  3. Wisbech East (GE) for me. I wasn’t all that interested in such things until I decided to build a 4 wheeled tram engine on 5” gauge for my wife and sons to drive while I played with my live steam 2-8-0. The castings that I obtained were not the best representation of a Y6, but I tried to make it somewhat similar and it got me interested in the railway and I found it absolutely fascinating. My young lads liked it because, well, Toby and all that, and wifey liked driving the tram engine because it was fast and fun. Here is a pic of the tram with my youngest (now 19) driving, and me with my eldest lad (now 21) and my 2-8-0. The latter is what that was all about for me.
  4. A vote for Northallerton for me too.

    Edgware GN

Loving the ticket office Manna, looks great!
  6. Riccarton Junction for me too. Was going to go for Montrose but the junction was not at the station. Great recording by Peter Handford of an A3 departing there and climbing Up past Usan Signal Box, but then lots of great recordings of his on the Waverley Route too.
  7. Great to see stuff moving along Dean. Onwards and upwards!
  8. ‘ellifield for me, spent an hour or so on a nice cold November day enjoying a bacon bap and a nice cup of tea in the cafe while waiting for a steam special.
  9. And another big oops for me...
  10. Penrith, one of my favourite of all stations, with a good fish and chippy nearby and watching a Duchess come through at full tilt, literally, nearly is enough to make one change faiths...
  11. Just to be a bit difficult it’s Sheffield Vic for me. Some excellent period images of the station plus I’ve been lucky enough to visit the city a couple of times. cheers Tony
  12. Not sure if Templecombe is classed as large, but listening to Bulleid Pacifics roaring through there on Peter Handford's recordings, and that it was on the S&D, it has to be a favourite.
  13. Love the view of Curlew earlier Gilbert. I have it in an earlier guise and I have to admit that I do like it in blue. As for London junction stations, it would have to be Clapham Junction for me.
  14. Hi John I use a long flat brush and apply it from the top of the boiler or tank/cab sides downwards. I wouldn’t worry about trying to find Pledge, we don’t have it here in Oz as far as I have been able to look, so I use another floor polish product I found. The critical thing is it has to dry with a clear gloss, so just look on the pack if it suggests it is clear and shiny. I also use a drop of Photoflo or similar wetting agent just to make sure it goes over the matte surface well. Cheers Tony
  15. If you are looking for some install tips, I recently did up a video showing installation of a Locoman D&H decoder into a Bachmann loco here: Cheers Tony
  16. Thanks Mark and Jonathan - they are very useful tips.
  17. Lovely work. How did you find the MJT kit in putting together? I've been looking at one myself just to get familiar with all the techniques I might need for building coaches. Cheers Tony
  18. Really impressed by the video John, you’ve really transformed that loco. Also impressed by the van shunting accuracy, shows the potential of RR&Co. cheers Tony
  19. Congratulations on 10 great years of modelling Gilbert, and so nice to mention Dave too. Your layout, the rollingstock, the way you operate it and the wonderful pictures that you continue to so regularly share with us remain one of my greatest modelling inspirations. Here’s to the next 10 and next 10 after that!. As for seaside termini, it has to be Scarborough for me. cheers Tony
  20. Hi Kaput I’ve been using these speakers https://www.parts-express.com/tang-band-w1-1925sb-1-poly-cone-full-range-driver--264-922 which have worked extremely well with the D&H Black 5. No matter what speaker you use, I’ve found that mounting it high up in the tender pointing downwards gives the best sounds. With most sound installs, I will usually remove the tender weight to give more room with no bad consequences. I can take some pics of my Black 5 install if you need it. The D&H decodes are a fair bit smaller than the Loksound. Cheers Tony
  21. Bradford Exchange for me, closely followed by Leeds Central. Cheers Tony
  22. Sorry, missed reading London Termini. All fixed now.
  23. Ok, got it wrong first time, teach me to read further in the thread. I do like all of the London Termini, but St Pancras is my all time favourite. I couldn’t believe it when a mate suggested visiting the Betjeman Arms pub that you could have a pint of ale and watch the Eurostars, always try to visit there when in London.
