  1. Not sure if it qualifies, but I’ve been told to select Bishop’s Waltham as my wife’s 99 year old Great Aunt lives there...
  2. Ryde Pier for me too please, had a very pleasant trip via Hovercraft to the Isle of Wight about 10 years ago, was amazed to see the LU stock running on the Pier as I’d only ever saw it in books before.
  3. If I could also be added to the C14 kit list if possible please, it looks stunning! Cheers Tony
  4. Lovely stuff Tony. I think the added steam/smoke really gives it drama, and such a stunning subject too. Cheers Tony
  5. I think you’ve hit the nail right on its head there Andy, it’s the tone I noticed in your workbench thread from other posters that really had me wondering what’s become of our hobby. Positive criticism is definitely what we need, but to say that these are worse than Kirk kits, given both the standard of those kits and the current holder of them is uncalled for and shows too much arrogance that is present among some modellers on here. People like Andy at Isinglass are doing their best to help out our modelling and if we are positive in our critique it only benefits all of us. Sorry for hijacking your thread Jesse! cheers Tony
  6. I must admit to being very perplexed by all this discussion about Isinglass. During the recent Virtual ScaleForum I caught up with Andy via Zoom and he was very helpful and is looking to improve the kits as much as he can. I think instead of criticizing all the faults we should be thankful that he is producing these to the best of his ability. We should therefore be working with him to improve them but we all, him included, need to understand working within the 3D resin medium. I had looked for ages for a D&S Milk Brake it on eBay, because trying to get one from Danny while being out here in Oz was just too hard. I’m therefore very thankful to have one of these kits to put together and it really looks the part on the head end of a Donny stopper as in a pic I have so I can now match a prototype pic very closely. Yes it doesn’t have internal bars on the windows, yes it has ends that are too thick, yes it has 3D printed bogies rather than MJT ones, but hey, I’ve got a resemblance of a Dia 310 Milk Brake at the front of a local service which allows me to represent a working through Wakefield Westgate and I’ve got Andy at Isinglass to thank for that.

    Edgware GN

That Jinty looks like it’s had a bit of work. Looks nice in crimson!
  8. That's the plan now John, as the other pics I've seen the windows aren't see through either.
  9. Did they have the bars in BR days? The photo I was going off didn’t seem to have them externally (photo via the Steve Banks site from the Hugh Longsworth book)
  10. Thanks Eric It got a bit of weathering today, but as always, a couple of unwanted marks appeared on the roof, so just a tiny fettle and it will be all good.
  11. Yes Dylan, lasted until mid 60’s. Here’s one in that guise as of just now (hope that’s ok to post in your thread Jesse)
  12. I always liked Midford, the station and the viaduct, lovely stuff.
  13. Lovely shiny A3s Eric, the Haymarket cleaners must’ve been busy. Cheers Tony
  14. The Isinglass GNR dia. 310 Milk Brake finally went through the paint shop today then finished off the lettering and glazing before it went into revenue service. It will need some weathering to blend the Humbrol Crimson into the othe Crimson vehicles on the layout, but really happy with how it turned out.
  15. Dore and Totley please. My good friend David Bailey who used to record lots of steam specials has a particularly excellent recording of 45305 climbing to Dore and Totley tunnel. Made me fall in love with UK steam all over again and got me back into modelling in OO scale.
  16. Llainfair PG for me. Read about it in a Guinness Book of Records when I was a kid and managed to visit it a couple of years ago.
  17. Another job I’ve been plodding along with is this Diagram 310 Milk Brake from Isinglass Models. This is my first ever coach (well NPCCS) kit and while it is relatively straightforward, I’ve been enjoying the build. Thanks also to Jonathan Weallans @jwealleans of this parish for his advice re ventilators and just for his ongoing inspiring modelling that made me want head down this path.
  18. Hi Gilbert Could you explain what you mean about the pilot? When I read that I was thinking that another loco would be coupled up but then I know that double heading was practically unheard of too, hence my confusion. Apologies if it is a dumb question that I should already know... Cheers Tony
  19. As some might have seen on Facebook groups I post to, one of the things I enjoy about my layout is that occasionally I can just pour myself a pleasant beverage and watch the trains. With the newly finished area at the south of the station I have been also experimenting with viewing angles to see how they look in replicating the many pics of the area I’ve amassed over the years. This one I was quite happy with and shows Bradford Hammerton St allocated B1 61031 Reedbuck on a Donny stopper, ready for the off at Wakefield Westgate. Just taken with my phone so not perfect, but showing some potential of the south end.
  20. Thanks very much Paul, that’s very helpful. cheers Tony
  21. Thanks Paul I suspected it might be a theatre box above. If you have any pics, that would be great! Cheers Tony
  22. After those diversions around Leeds courtesy of pubs or the local chippy, could I ask for some additional directions please? i would like to purchase or somehow construct a signal as shown in the image below (J. Farline collection). I believe it is a 3 aspect home signal with some sort of position indicator above it, but there also looks to be another shunt signal below it too. This controlled the south entry into Westgate coming off the 99 arches, and was only for a straight through or platform road. Anyone who is familiar with colour lights of the early 50s BR NE region have some suggestions?
  23. Well while I’ve not been updating the thread as much as I would like, my excuse is I’ve been focusing on the area called Back Garden Lane south of Westgate and immediately below the railway. This area changed a lot from the early 50s onwards, but I’ve tried to represent something of the area as it was just before this area was redeveloped. I’ve also been finishing off the railway portion coming into Westgate based on the many pics I used as references and while not a perfect representation, I hope it captures the look and feel appropriately. Next it will be onto Westgate and finishing off the station.
  24. For the current poll, while not exactly a wayside station, can I put in a vote for Stanley on the Methley Joint line? It was a smaller through station with some amazing architecture and the Wakefield Railway Modellers Society recently created a layout of the location. I was fortunate to build a structure for it and ship it from Aus to the UK in time for it to be on the layout for the Pontefract show, so I have a bit of a soft spot for the location.
  25. Yeah, now that’s all very nice, but it ain’t no pannier... Seriously though John, I’ve a lot to learn from your slow speed tuning. I also need to find out more about tantalums one of these days. Keep up the good work and long live Granby! Cheers Tony
