Good choice of livery, I’m surprised there are few left for sale mustn’t have been many in the first place.

Thanks, that makes sense, although obviously the DPS have significant spares, but they are reserved for that organisations locos.
I know the DPS are planning full overhauls of their in-serivce and spare engines ,so might this be a pathway for LSL to increase their pool of engines by adding on to the overhaul order
I have not been able to find out the diffrences between the Marine the rail engine. Why is it not possible/so difficult. to use a Marine block, stripped down, and fitted with generaltor and ausillaries from a rail engine.
I also wanted to ask what the source/history of the 'spare' block that was going to be fitted to D9002 (before the NRM said static display only...)?
If you or anyone on here knows, that would be very interesting. Possibly beyond the boudns of this thread though... (maybe a Deltic thread in 'preservation' board?)
Your ideas and intentions are admirable but the limiting factors are money and in the case of the DPS both money and volunteers of which there are few to keep the locos running as it is. In time most things are possible but without cash and an abundance of free help progress is very slow and I speak from experience. It is good to have goals though.

Got mine today, green full yellow ends. It has to be one of Heljans best so far, they have sold quickly though.

Green edge on boiler roof just about visible at the Doncaster Open day in 1982, so unlikely to have been touched in July 81.....

Going to hunt my old pics I’m on a mission lol ... time does play tricks on the mind but I do remember the blue / green tops date panel. Another detail I do recall from the 1980 repaint was that Doncaster paint shop used to paint in black in small hand painted numbers the date they repainted the loco. This wasn’t reserved for 55002 it occurred on a few locos, I always thought it looked cool, looked something like this......DR 20-12-80 or similar and always in italics hand painted in black. 55002 had it low down on the yellow warning panel on the corner.

Thanks Fran stand fully corrected, that’s fresh out of Doncaster in Dec 80. 1st July 81 it was released from York shed repainted / cleaned up for the second time, I wonder if the boiler roof was painted fully grey then anyway no matter but interesting to research. I only remember the 1st July as it ran into York from KX about 7pm and a rather excited 14 year old got his first Deltic cab ride as it followed the stock out of platform 3. 53 and I still remember it .....magic!

On the 1981 version of 55002 the boiler roof should be fully grey and doesn’t line through with the grey on the cooler groups. I think the 2017 version should be the same also.

Fran, I think you deserve a knighthood, for your patience and perseverance in accommodating all these tiny, but proven changes in your pursuit of perfection.....
This thread should be pinned up in the Boardroom of every manufacturer in this market as an example of how to relate to your customer base and engage in positive acceptance of changes before finally pressing the button on production. This model will be outstanding and how much better it has been to have these inputs now rather than have all these minor observations detracting from the purity of this model after release.
If only all models were made this way.........
Fran, I’ll make you Lord Fran if you do a 7mm Deltic....

Yes I agree the original seemed to be a dark red/maroon but I can only remember black in later years of their BR lives - certainly not bright red.
Sat in most of the Class in the late 70’s and early 80’s never recalled red seats all were black shiny plastic and a grey frame / plinth.

Here is food for thought don’t pre order this and don’t buy it when it comes out and you’ll be able to buy it 6 months later for at least 20% off when Hattons reduce their price.....simples.

Try looking on bens online interview. Class 40 was Spring I think followed by the 47. Probably a bit vague as it changes all the time.

To be realistic the headcode lights were very dim in daylight (and not much better in darkness!).
To my eye most models have these lights far to bright. They were barely visible.
Totally agree, imagine two 40 watt rough service bulbs behind a mostly black blind.

Hi
I have the BR green version of this model.
Should both of the tail lights be lit at once for light engine working for the 1960 s or only one?
And should there be a white marker light at the front ?
thanks
Roger
Can’t speak for the 37 but on a Deltic which being an EE product of the same era the tail lights are turned on from a single switch in the cab and both are lit at the same time. I’ld go for both on together. The only front light will come from behind the route indicators ie. on a split headcode two bulbs in each box or one bulb per roller blind. The tail lights don’t switch colour they are a red lense with a bulb behind hit. Hope this helps.

Yes sale looks good but must say I feel a little miffed at O gauge A4’s going for £579 when I only bought one when they first came out this year at £750. Sort of feel that after signing up to one when they were announced 3 years ago was it that knocking the price back so quickly is a bit naughty. Moral is don’t buy when they first come out shan’t get caught again sorry Hattons.

I breathed a sigh of relief, I’m thrilled for those who want the 26, 27 and 73 but I’ve got a 31/1, 40, 17, 47 and 56 lining up to buy so need a bit of a gap lol....good interview though I enjoyed it.

Can anyone summarise the approx release dates. I had Class 40 due spring 2021. The Class 47 due after the Class 40. Didn’t hear any dates for the Class 17 or Class 56. Did anyone pick these dates up.?

Shawplan Laser Glaze would be great to sort this issue, not sure if they do 7mm.
-
For me the days of paying up front in whatever amount for some flight of fancy are dead.

Always liked these little shunters with the veranda on the back. The nrm one always looked the part, can’t wait for O gauge.

I want to add dcc sound to my model 60034 before I add all the extra pieces, does anyone have a chip and speaker specification they have used successfully...thanks
-
Terylene polyester, they don’t make them like that anymore!
-
Just been checking out the 7mm 3D diesel worksplates, ie. Sulzer, EE, etc. Can you specify individual locos or is that pushing things a bit much?...Thanks.
-
Thanks chaps, information overload so I’m going to spend a bit of time digesting you’re thoughts. I’m not electrical so need to think it through.
-
Thanks for such a detailed reply, I’ll have a good read and digest, many thanks.

Can anyone suggest an idiots guide to motorising a peco point I will have about 15 to do. I want to make my own track layout board with toggle switches on the points maybe even some nice led lights showing which roads are switched. I haven’t a clue about power supply or motors but seep ones look good. Oh and although the locos will be dcc I want the points and signals analogue. Thanks in anticipation.

To be honest it’s as if they didn’t make as many of a normal run as they usually do but all credit to Heljan it’s a great model.
