Hi. IPA.
Thanks how strong? Have heard 99.9% can damage plastic, and what make of acrylic or lacquer paint would you suggest for br blue and warning panel yellow? I’m an aircraft modeller usually and airbrush a lot using mr hobby paints.

Nail on head, delticfan. We’ve had a string of broken promises for some items, and if I were wearing my cynical hat, the new 3 month advance notice of delivery would feel a bit like a cold blooded marketing attempt to restore credibility. A 3 month delivery date would be a dead cert, models at the packing stage to go in the container, were it not for the coronavirus issue.
So it’s just as well I’m not wearing my cynical hat...
And I thought I was alone lol sick of folks standing up for Bachmann they are old hat I’m afraid.

Don’t you just wish DJ Models was removed from the forum list. He doesn’t even exist anymore and we would all be glad to see the back of him.

The complexity of what is being discussed in recent posts defeats me. So what? The only date that counts for anything at all is the date the product is on the shelf ready to be bought. Bachmann seem to be pulling out all the stops to make that sooner rather than later. Big tick, Barwell!
Totally agree with you there but it has taken them about 10 years to wake up to the fact announcing a model 4 years before it hits the shelves is a bit dumb. Maybe as newer companies have arrived and can delivery faster they have had to pull their fingers out. Got a bit sick of being strung along at shows when you asked about delivery times only to find out they were years off the mark, if they knew at least have the decency to come clean.

Just received my br blue version from Hattons, I love it. No damage and no bits hanging off. Well worth £420. I notice they are out of stock on Hattons but rails of Sheffield and Tower may have some left.

Love this show so friendly go along and have fun.

Complete admiration for taking a knife to a £550 loco. Not my bag I must admit I’ll be happy with the defects and not have to fork out for a kit and make it.

Back from Bristol show and having now seen one of the Class 03's in person I have decided not to buy one at present.
What has put me off is the running board is not straight. It bows upwards in the middle. I spoke to a Gent who had bought one and he pointed this out to me. Having looked at all the examples on offer at the show, they were all the same. If you look at photos on various large vendors sites you will see what I mean when viewed square on from the side.
Not sure if this can be rectified?
Cheers, Ade.
I don’t think it’s a massive problem. When I got mine I had a wonky running board and when viewed head on the loco leaned to one side. I took the body off and the running board is really flimsy I’m going to reinforce it with brass strip and that will work. I packed one side up and all is not leaning now. I understand your thoughts but honestlly it’s an easy fix and a cracking loco.

Just seen this, shocked to hear he has passed on. RIP iconic photographs.

You pays yer money ... there is a big difference in price between DJH and Heljan!!
I would go Heljan over DJH much better quality bodywork and you don’t have to build it.

Not the worst and not the best my Dapol Y3 is far smoother. Maybe under dcc it would be better and maybe it needs running in.

Got mine as well, agree the crest is fine, not run it yet but it looks great, cab detail is excellent. Only minor fault was a 3 link coupling that had fallen apart but easily screwed back together. Had a couple of 4mm mates round and they were blown away by it...
My coupling had come apart too sorted quickly though did you get instructions with yours...love the cab detail too.

Pity I think Dapol would do a better job of the 56 and cheaper...

Wasp stripe received today. Crest is ok not worth changing, movement is ok not the smoothest but dcc may improve that, body is a bit lopsided but sorted that quite easily with two paper packs, the body comes off really easily with four screws, the footplate side access is a bit warped but only because it is wafer thin so should be easy to sort out. Overall a cracking little loco can’t wait for the blue version...oh and no instructions in the box.

Sorry to stray off topic but I’ve just got some railmatch enamels, what ratio of thinners to paint do you use, was going to try 50/50 sprayed at 15psi to start with, I’m using a 0.35 Iwata.
