You should go ask for updates in the new Heljan Class 47 thread after 3 months of hearing nothing, trust me you don't want to do that as I had fella's turn up on my doorstep with baseball bats...believe me it's not worth the grief.

Yeah give them a break just think it could be a lot lot worse Bachmann doing it would take at least 5 years lol, at least you would see photos in their catalogue year in year out till they came into existence.

Every time I have “pre-ordered” from a large retailer it has invariably been with no deposit taken and full, funds taken at time of dispatch, a completely different scenario with no risk of money going with no goods, but with LLC I felt it was fairly secure as I had already had a Class 15 from Steve, how wrong was I......in for a penny in for nearly £500

I feel totally gutted for you, I nearly got stung for my first deposit with DJM APT fiasco fortunately I got the money refunded early and never went any further. I think the days of crowdfunding or taking a huge damn risk are over. I remember LLC selling the kits for the Class 04 which apart from the wheels and some fittings were basically junk as far as the etchings went, so I am really cautious where my hard earned goes now. I don’t think anything truly sells out and if you wait you can usually pick up a bargain.

Could not agree more Gary. An Accurascale O gauge Deltic or 37 mirrowing the sublime accuracy of the 4mm version would be irresistible

Totally agree how many Deltic fans have a collection of 7mm Heljan minus a Deltic. The Heljan one is passed over every time by me as I cringe at the inaccurate roof grilles, cab windows and nose shape. I’m not picky as I have a few Heljan models all with issues but none so great as seen on the 55. Oh and what about an HST, going on the farewell tour next Saturday I bet the support for a 7mm version would be mega! Never thought as an 80’s Deltic fan I would say that lol...

  4. Simple question, why do Dapol plan to sell their new Class 66 for circa £275 and Heljan charge more than double that for a similar size loco. Both specifications are similar. I wish Dapol would do more, I don’t feel like I’m getting ripped by them especially for shutters!

  5. Yes I agree with you been trawling pics and can’t find one with different end details. Nice touch if they did something quirky though. What liveries you guys going for, blue for me late 70s early 80s. Think I need a bigger house lol.......it’ll be the peaks next then 47s then 56s oh no

  6. Just had a look at nose ends a lot of locos around about 40060 had flat bottoms at both ends with headcode boxes suggesting maybe a late production or works modification but I can’t find one yet with one end only. 40058 had a right mess at one end and discs at the other. Can anyone find a loco with different end details don’t fancy trawling through the whole fleet I want to go to the pub!

  7. Lol cack handed you do your self an injustice but I know what you mean I have and will continue to overlook the odd error on Heljan models as it’s a lot less hassle than building one and at £540 a steal really. Now I won’t extend that to the Deltic as I can’t bring myself to buy one it’s that bad IMHO....The hang down was a throw back to nose end corridor door usually seen on accident damaged examples where the nose was rebuilt, an interesting point on the production model but would seriously numbering choices, need to look into that one...

As far as I'm aware (and I'm happy to be proved wrong) the MM1 kit hasn't been available for many years.

Wasn’t being specific to any MM1 kit I just meant your choice would be to kit build if you weren’t happy with Heljan.

  9. Hattons A4 and A3, the 45, 25, 52, Falcon, Warship and 20 are good for me. The 40 and 37 less so but still ok. The Deltic is pretty horrible so is the 47 but on the whole not too bad. Hattons took on board loads of constructive comments for the A3 and A4 if they do the same for the 56 it will be a cracking model but that’s Ben Jones job to ensure it happens. If you don’t like their stuff you can always buy an MM1 kit but you’ll be forking out another 3 or 400 quid extra assuming you can wield an airbrush.
