  1. I really like the overall view, it has a good sense of space considering how small it is. Where did you get the figures for 3d printing from?
  2. The now extinct London Potato Horse was a remarkable specimen.
  3. There is an interesting thread on the Narrow Gauge Forum about RC in OOn6.5 that might give you some ideas https://ngrm-online.com/index.php?/forums/topic/21615-0065-rcand-topics-related/
  4. Same experience, ordered 12 noon on Friday (yesterday), parcel arrived this morning, superb service
  5. Glad to see this is back on your table, shocked at how expensive it is now on Shapeways! A contemporary design drawing, though not showing any brake gear.
  6. I've been having similar talks with my wife who is a primary teacher. I'm worried about the pupils in years 1 and 6 who cannot return for health reasons, both themselves and members of their household no longer being set work. A parent with COPD cannot reasonably be expected to send their child to school at the moment but the child should still be receiving an education.
  7. For those of you missing sport, I present the Lincolnshire Cricket Twitter Club Cup! I'm shilling for Brock Park, by far the smallest club left in the quarter finals. Previously the domain of the local landed gentry, we are now mainly shopkeepers and delivery drivers - the newly discovered keyworkers Unlike a general election, every vote counts and we're about 20 behind at the moment.
  8. Hands like a surgeon (often covered in blood)
  9. I think this sums up the appeal of these carriages to some people. Not accurate enough for their main interest, but maybe good enough for to fill in for a minor one
  10. Looks like a scene from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Biggest_Little_Railway_in_the_World with Stuck Drawbridge.
  11. If you're looking at an elevated site, coal drops were not unknown on the MSL/GCR, Brigg for one had them.
  12. Excellent work, I assume the "bass tube" is connected to the portable gramophone player?
  13. Stunning! Have you got any under construction photos? I had a quick track back on your main thread but it moves along at such a pace it's hard to keep up at times
  14. No spoilers, but if you like The Good Place, it's worth checking out Parks & Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine who also had/have Michael Schur as a guiding hand. He was behind The Office (US) as well, but I haven't seen that yet.

Sad news that passed me by at the time. His generous sharing of his photographs via geograph is a legacy that will keep his memory alive for years to come. Has his collection been bequeathed to anyone?
  16. Just done some detective work and seen how little you paid for it
  17. I'm afraid that your warning, though approprate, comes far too late in the thread to have a dampening effect and I desired it with an ardour that far exceeds moderation
  18. Barry Norman drew up a plan in MRJ 99 and made a very good case for it
  19. It's the smaller sibling (only 16' long) of the bogie fish van; built at the same time with the same styling cues. The L&Y had a very similar van as well - http://www.lyrs.org.uk/images/uploads/D72_web_version.jpg
  20. After a near 20 year break, I've actually started to do some physical model making. It was a shock to me too! But seeing as Richard I was making more progress with my 3d files than I was, it was time to gently ease myself out of the armchair. A few weeks ago this arrived: Which I prompted fell in love with and put in a cupboard as I was too scared to touch. Courage was summoned and the desire to at least make a start on it before the other Richard finished his. I detached the internal sprues and inspected my handiwork closer. The Good: Body came out very well, internal sprues with buffers/vac hose and coupling hook seems ok. Solebar printed well and the brake lever is a highlight. The Bad: On the downside, printing the roof in 2 halves hasn't worked well, with wax being trapped between them and the alignment not being all that. The brake gear was too flimsy, with 3 shoes coming away when the sprue was detached. Could do better: One piece roof, thicker supports for the brakes, re-position the sprues for the brakes to reduce strain when de-spruing. The concept behind the design was to make it as cheap as possible on Shapeways by reducing the footprint, height and supports. I think I've gone too far, but as an exercise in finding the limits whilst still giving me a workable object, it's been a success. A bit of primer later:
  21. I hope there is some foreshortening in the photo and they're not working under a suspended load...
  22. Oh the perils of giving a file to someone who works several orders of magnitude faster than you! Good to see some pictures I finally got round to having a look at my Shapeways print of the same file at the weekend. Quick summary: Body came out very well, internal sprues with buffers/vac hose and coupling hook seems ok. Solebar printed well and the brake lever is a highlight. On the downside, printing the roof in 2 halves hasn't worked well, with wax being trapped between them and the alignment not being all that. The brakegear was too flimsy, with 3 shoes coming away when the sprue was detached. Pictures to follow. The concept behind the design was to make it as cheap as possible on Shapeways by reducing the footprint, height and supports. I think I've gone too far, but as an exercise in finding the limits whilst still giving me a workable object, it's been a success.
  23. Does anyone have a recommendation for the NPCS brown?
  24. The file referred to in this topic - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/98911-private-owner-wagons-index-searchable/ is a mine of information on po wagons
  25. I caught it almost by accident in the car and I've got now got a six year old asking to hear it again. I've never seen the tv series or the film, as I couldn't see how they could capture the books or radio series
