  1. Whilst we are talking road rail land rovers, I took this pic at the GCRN on sunday, it was being used, not on the metals though. Its ex Balfour Beatty.
  2. Thanks, I have even suprised my self remembering number plates! It was some where near Llandridnod Wells!
  3. Thats a very interesting find, well it is to me anyway! Was there any interior in it, and do you know if its for sale or any bits are? Andy
  4. Merf, a quick question, does the reg K250 GAU mean anything in your lists ? Its a ford cargo, passed it yesterday near wales, its a horsebox now but the reg is familiar for some reason! Andy
  5. now this I like, I had a mestaro van many years ago, not a railway van, but my own, did over 200,000 miles in it, used two engines, 3 gearboxes - waht was I thinking?
  6. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr_sam/5864005501/ Abitmore info on this pic, inc a recent ish pic of the dropside one
  7. Ringo, I see your point. The corrosion is quite bad, and major panel work would be required. It might be worth finding out if any Bedford or AWD panels are available, but it would need a lot of work to make it work. I have a cab swap to do, and have the luxury of a brand new cab to fit up and then fit, but even thats a nightmare with no suitable facility. The decision has to have some balance, or it will just end up rotting on your driveway instead! I looked in the rush green cab, and its fittings were all there and it wasnt too bad, but given the whole in the roof and ten years standing, it will have suffrered, although I didnt look to closely to the one with no windscreen, as it was hard to get to. As Merf says ref the hornsey ones, I know nothing of those, but the Wensleydale one was sold recently, December 2011 to someone who already has a couple of them. There is a thread on the wnxx forum, I did ask but got told more or less to foxtrot oscar. Good luck with your serach and keep us all posted, it would be a result to preserve one properly! Andy
  8. Thats easy, get the one from Rush green motors, and use the cab, most of its internal fittings were there, just need a method to swap the cabs, what was the rest of it like? Go on, buy it, its a bit of history! picture of the better one attached, Andy
  9. http://80srail.zenfolio.com/p46897271 A nice little collection here, some bruffs, and also some bedford CFs, not seen many pics of those , and the only re railing unit I have seen with an orange beacon on the cab roof !
  10. Ringo thats brillaint, have sent you a PM! I can see a classic BR recovery convoy doing 45 mph and clogging up the highways, on route to drink tea somewhere!
  11. Ringo and Merf, The yard is rush green motors in hitchin, herts, a real time warp place where stuff arrives, and then some bits are taken off, but then nothing much else happens other they get left there. Owner reckone they had six or nine in total, but according to this page, that may be bollox, and ringo i see you are here too! http://www.ontrackpl...ecovery-lorries http://www.railfaneu...isc/b445wpo.jpg = one in happier times! http://www.bdca.org.uk/forumtwo/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=71 Andy
  12. Well on saturday I was looking around a truck breakers yard trying to find parts for my leyland roadrunner, and found these - ringo please don`t cry, but instead buy them all and build one good one! This one, C956 YOR - not in the best of health, a lot missing and damaged, and nature gradually taking its course - no idea how long its been here, but clearly a while. The second one below had no number plates, and the tax discs was faded so I could not find the reg number, the only identifier was a "Crewe TMD" allocation stocker on the door, no body, the inside of the cab relativley complete, but the glass is smashed, so nature is taking its course. This third one again had no plates and no tax disc, and nothing that I could find to identify it, the body is at an odd angle to the cab, the turntable was down and the insides very intact, with glass and everything! between the staff and the owner of the yard, they reckjon there are between six and nine bruffs on site, although after a couple of hours I could only fine these three, but there was stuff and more stuff and mountains of cabs and axles, so they could be anywhere. According to "fred", some germans stripped the crownwheel and pinions from all of the diffs, the engines were sold, and from what I can see none of the rail wheels were present! It was a nice day, and a very enjoyable way to spend a staurday morning!
  13. and here is another good pic courtesy of the OOC facebook page, a couple of escort combis, they seem hard to find pictures of, probably a dodge re railing unit, and of course the tragic mishap of invincible and a big mess.
  14. A find on flickr, nothing much to see, except I wonder where it is, and when the pic was taken, and if its for sale! A dodge commando, later on with the plastic grill......doesnt look too bad! http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ and this terrier, with its lower side doors filled in, and the lettering in a diffrent place again... http://www.flickr.co...c55/3700715667/ the other side of the NSE DMS, not seen this before http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4107/5101355275_7a373d63d4_z.jpg and finally, not sure if this one was posted before, another terrier, makes me think they came with windows only in the upper part of the side doors, or maybe they all just got broken! Plenty of nostalgia here! http://www.flickr.co...c55/4047949198/
  15. This is stretching the boundaries of a road vehicle, but is for sale on ebay, would make a nice model project for merf! Ebay Item number: 140795123975 Only problem is where to put it!
  16. I have borrowed this pic from the old oak common facebook page, some brilliant pictures there! This is the padd to ooc workabus, little before my time there, they were LDV 400 when I ws there, with the occasional class 50 thrown in the mix !
  17. Fantastic picture, full of atmosphere! The logo does look like like a map of sctland, and there is a back end of a sherpa on the left! Merf, The picturs of the dodge above are super as well, I have even gone out and bought a donkey jacket!
  18. The pic of the ford goes to show how the logos and letterings vary, anything goes really! Question though, does anyone have any interior shots of any of these cew lorries?
  19. merf, let me know if there are any specific pics or measurements you may need, i`ll have the bus out next weekend. A pic here, courtesy of traveller homes, still in its amec pale blue - I have not seen too many ford cargos! http://www.traveller....co.uk/?p=11163 Full link there, its a tempting purchase......
  20. Merf, I like the dodge minibus, thats brilliant! Ref the TK, love the model but to me the cab on that model always looks too small, is it, or is it just the TK had a small cab? I think your next one should be a nice leyland daf re railing bus, I can think of a prototype! Andy
  21. and a nice pair.........of ital vans here ! http://www.flickr.com/photos/d9006/5465799076/
  22. Hi Phil, At the end of the day it can be scrapped same as any other vehicle, and the correct paperwork should be filled in. This one has been there that long, who knows if it has a V5, and who knows who actually owns it, which may well be why its still there! It would be great to see it saved though.
  23. Hi Merf, Some gems in there, and some familiar looking vehicles. A lot of those are on traveller homes, maybe he is traveller dave? If so, all credit to him for taking all these pics. This dodge; http://www.flickr.co...157626649407375 could it be this one? The first bit of the reg is the same.
  24. Whilst we are talking of BRUFFS, here is the bruffs partner. Ringo you will remember this - I am amazed its still there. The Reading Depot commando has been mentioned before, so here are a couple of pictures taken last week - I am impressed by its unvandalised confition, it was last taxed in 2001, so can assume it has not moved since. It looks original, and I want to add it to my fleet!! It cannot have long now though, as with the redevelopement of the depot I guess it will get swept away and scrapped, which is a shame as its survived this long. Andy
  25. That last one is the same vehicle as your shot of the one at gaerwin, amazed its still in use and still in BR colours and legends, despite having faded and gone rusty! The end must be nigh for that soon!
