  1. Is looking forward to the first time I have Lamb Chops in China when I bring out my own jar of Mint-Source. MMmmmm...

      Horsetan

Are you sure it will actually be lamb that you'll be eating, or eating something else that also likes to eat lamb?

    2. SHMD

      SHMD

nah! I can distinguish their lamb, fish, beef, and chicken. It gets harder after that - even with an interpreter!

  2. Has been allocated seat 2A on the Boeing747 Combi to Shanghai. Very VERY nice...

  3. ...is busy packing for my trip to China later today. SWMBO is quite sure that there is still room for the kitchen!

  4. Apologies to all as my spelling has been atrocious (looks wrong - even to me) recently,as my new laptop does not have a spell checker yet!

    1. Debs.

      Debs.

      Eye smell purdy awfilly two!

  5. Going to China on Thursday, with my wife and 4yr old, for 2 months on buisness. All booked, payed for, jabbed, visa'd, arranged, etc. Today my son breaks out in Chicken Pox. Why? Why does it always happen to me...

Just noticed MI3 is out. First impressions - WOW!

  6. Next week I'm off to China again ;-) but with an airline with the (just change to) the worst frequent flyer program :-( +500k miles and no way of using them!

  7. Found a Fiver today. If you think it's your please state roughly where you lost it and give the serial number...

It's got to be mine. I own a bank in Iceland and have lost quite a few.

  8. Yes! New Laptop fired up, working and connected. Now to move many Mega-Bytes of rubbish onto its hard disk. But no work being done on my entry to the 2012 Innovation Challenge today :-(

  9. Laptop... failing... must... get. n.w ... Lap..p..

  10. Way-hey! Going home bell in 2 minutes.

  11. Laptop failed twice today. Lots of "Manchester Screwdrive" to get it going the second time. Am backing up as I type!

Just locked up again - but then freed it self! I can see a new laptop coming my way ver soon. (Nearly all backed up now.)

  12. Excuse me RMweb’ers but *%^$ %^”£%$^ %^*$£#*S!!! For several months now I have been calling in on a pub on the way home. So, I hear you say, well I always got my laptop out and do some modelling design work before hitting domestic bliss at home. Maybe 4 or 5 visits a month with 2 or 3 pints each time. Tonight the landlord announced that he was charging 50p for me to plug in my laptop! I can only assume he already has enough customers.

I did/had to ask every time as the socket also switches on a lamp and is controlled from behind the bar. PAT testing is a good question which i don't think 50p circumvents.

    3. Pennine MC

      Pennine MC

Nah, he'd have to charge you £50 an hour for an electrician ;-)

    4. SHMD

      SHMD

I'm not paying for his electrics to be PAT tested! ;-) PAT testing is not required - Hotela, Airports, even trains provide public access sockets with no PAT requirements. But it is a requirement that you keep your own appliances in "good order".

  13. Took my 4 year old son to the Northern Engineering exhibition last Sunday along with his Granddad, Uncle and a good family friend. We all had a great time, even the food was reasonable and edible! His favourite was the scalextric, (he had 2 races), but he was disappointed that he wasn’t allowed to fly any of the ‘big airplanes"!

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

      Buy him a Saab.

  14. Not the far north nor the far east this time for me but the northeast - Middlesbrough and one of my favourite hotels "Rushpool hall" that's the place to be.

  15. My 4 year old son was sent home from nursery today with a swollen face. My wife took him to the doc’s straight away where he was diagnosed with “slapped face syndrome”!!! I kid you not. Google it, I have. I can’t believe it. Of all the things I worry about what could happen to him growing up that was just not one of them.

  17. Today, I have been led into temptation, Today, I have coveted my neighbour(s’ layouts), Today, I have been found wanting. For today, Andy Y, has shown me the forbidden fruit. Forgive me, for I have sinned. I am not worthy.

  18. WOW! Just descovered the Lime St thread from the track plan at the top of this page - I havn't done any work since!

  20. Damn these hotel rooms. A couple were at it hammer and tongs all night. I got that distracted by it that in the end I had to turn the TV down.

    4. 10800

      10800

-8? Luxury - once worked in Bucharest at -20 plus windchill and central heating failure indoors

  22. Just witnessed, (very frightening indeed), the ‘controlled’ detonations of tunnel blasting below the building. 30 to 40 blasts in about 15 seconds, 10 seconds of deep rumbling, and then another 30 odd detonations!

  23. Misses got me a great read - "Men of Steam".

    1. SHMD

      SHMD

By David Wragg. It's that good, I read the first 36 pages on the way to work today!

The series of novels with the same name are quite a good read as well.

  25. Anybody else found themelves issuing more "Yes dear"s than usual?

    1. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

Particularly now I'm experimenting in O gauge as it's harder to smuggle things in and I have to explain why every purchase is essential...

    2. SHMD

      SHMD

I think there is a correlation between the amount of time spent on RMweb and the number of issued “Yes dear”s.

I’ve even had to increase the sincerity level!
