  1. Some great pics there, just goes to prove you can't have enough prototype info available to you. Good to see you back on here, I was getting a bit worried
  2. As ever an informative and interesting read, many thanks David
  3. Come to the dark side my son..........................
  4. Congratulations on your award, undoubtedly well deserved
  5. Good luck with the show over the weekend guys irrespective of who invited whom...... Wish I lived a bit closer but it is a fair truck from up here in the true north of England Edit: damn and blast still haven't made page 100!!!!
  6. Pedantic grammar aside I am optimistic this post will start page 100
  7. My old series 2 had a V8 with injection, proper quick but needed a new gearbox every few hundred miles Anyhow enough of this off topic rambling, let's see some modelling
  8. "Nope! The sheep in the fields at the back have run away and hidden though." Nothing you've done I hope
  9. Re Snow We have a dusting that managed to freeze overnight making the back lane (which is a bit steep!!) rather interesting when taking the boy to school this morning.......thank heaven for Mabel, my 1974 series III Land Rover
  10. Try these http://www.emkaysupplies.co.uk It is a strange size though........
  11. Spoken like a true Yorkshireman....................getting someone else to get the beers in
  12. Looking good Chris although I think Andy is trying to keep you out of the pub which is technically emotional & physical abuse lol...........should I ring social services for you
  13. And you can get all his instructions on his website..........a big well done to Jim methinks
  14. It looks great Simon and if it passes the kids test well I think you are onto a winner. I was given a C&L turnout kit a good while ago but have never actually had a go at building trackwork but you have inspired me to have a go........I think I need to build a photo plank layout dos I need more layouts in my life/loft!!
  15. Suddenly I get this western thing, that is stunning Steve. Well done sir
  16. I exclusively use the Carrs solder paste when using the RSU, in fact I can't remember the last time I used ordinary solder!! I have recently built one of Jims lowmacs and it was built using only the RSU, lots of spot soldering but looks ok. Will try and post some pics of it if any interest??
  17. Looking good and clearly a much more enjoyable build!!!
  18. I think RSUs have a habit of dividing opinions, personally I wouldn't be without mine. As Chaz has shown they are really useful when you have something that needs localised heat that can be controlled accurately by the user. I wouldn't be without mine
  19. I've found that while using a croc clip I get quite a bit of arcing so to overcome it I made a bigger one with flat jaws and it seemed to do the trick. Basically I filed down the serrated teeth of a large(ish) croc clip and soldered some brass pads to the jaws, seems to work a treat........
  20. Try here, http://www.hobbyholidays.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=RSUI've got one and I love it. I use it for detail stuff and "spot welding" bigger stuff followed by a quick in and out with the big iron to seam the joints. You do have to think about the build sequence a bit though, they have a habit of making the kit instructions a bit redundant
  21. Hi Rod My dad used to have one of those Morris vans, we went on holiday in it once when we were kids......noisy, slow, smelly and unreliable but I loved it. It's brought back some great memories for me, thanks for posting the pic
  22. No the pics are really helpful for describing the process, enjoying your work mate
  23. Lovely looking loco Rod and I am not in the least bit jealous.........I wish !! All the best and have a great Xmas
  24. Forgot to say in last post, welcome along to the world of 7mm, I'm sure you will enjoy it and the vast majority of folk are warm and welcoming (the miserable ones don't use the interweb too much, it's not powered by steam you see!!!!) Guild membership is pretty good value too what with the gazette, shows and product directory etc
