  1. I Will check with SWMBO. Pickering is probably the best option, closest to Staithes. We can then leave the children at home in the cottage, they can take care of themselves for a couple of hours. Because with them, any serious conversation might be somewhat short and frustrating... Will PM you, as not to clutter up Robin's very focused ANTB thread...
  2. It is the long way round. But much cheaper than the alternatives, even counting the extra petrol and an overnight stay. We won't make the journey in one go, we'll be staying overnight in YHA Medway . We'll I'll try to squeeze in a visit to Historic dockyard in Chatham in the afternoon, but negotiations are ongoing.
  3. Meet me somewhere along the way, but preferably near B... I'll try to squeeze in a visit to the NYMR and/or the NRM, but my family is not all that keen on trains.
  4. Slightly... For our holiday in last two weeks of August I've booked this cottage: Which is near here: Anybody fancy an ANTB day out in the country....
  5. It will be a layout based on Gamaran.
  6. Will this new layout include 7mm rhino's?
  7. Feeling slightly underwhelmed by this model... Mind you, I still think it's a reasonable model, but it could have been better, much better. I canceled my pre order a while back, and now seeing the above photographs, I don't regret doing that. Will wait for the magazine reviews and users comments on RMweb before deciding to buy one or not.
  8. As to jacks, those where carried on Cambrian engines after the Welshampton accident of 1897, a practice that lasted into Great Western days. The Cambrian Railways album by C.C. Green has several photo's of Great Western lettered engines with jacks, among them a Dean Goods.
  9. Oh, I went to that exhibition, did some haggling but sadly was overbid... Nice exhibition though: But this was the real centerpiece. (My daughter didn't really like the fat controller)
