  1. Good luck and welcome to the world of 2mm modelling!

My current experience of stuff 2mm scale, is re-wheeling some Farish wagons, starting the building of 2mm 16T minerals and building some track using copper-clad sleepers. My new layout will use easitrac for the main boards and copper-clad construction for the sector plate/fiddle yard.

  2. It will be interesting to see what you're going to do regarding the fiddle yards. I would have thought the conventional fiddle yard setup will be to cumbersome and prove to be a huge operational headache for a layout of this size.

You say you are going to build the 1st 16ft, then build the rest later. If you are thinking of using a cassette-based system, can I recommend you to see the video of Welton Down - a fine 2mm scale model based on the Southern region of BR. A cassette-based system would certainly be worth considering.

Good luck with this project and I avidly wait to watch its progress - no pressure!

    Thank you very much!

I certainly would be grateful for pictures of the terminal. If possible I would be looking for the ends and side view of the building, as I can guesstimate the measurements where required. If you feel there might be a picture that would also be useful then please let me know. Again, if there is a charge then let me know as well.

    Regards,

    Robert.

  4. Nice bit of weathering. I would like to try my hand at airbrushing, as I have only used dry-brush weathering in the past. I feel that each has it's own advantages, but both could really enhance a model!

I will do my BR blue model (37 ???) once it has been renumbered and lowered (as per bcnPete of coombe junction - moorswater fame). As for removing the factory applied numbers, I scraped them off with my fingernail on one of my peaks before renumbering it as 45 056. It appeared in the December 2011 edition of the railway modeller (the bogies have been narrowed as per that article).

    Regards,

    Robert.

  5. One option would be to run 2 separate trains - one empty and one loaded - only having one of these on the layout at a time would give the impression that both loading and unloading is done off-stage.

Another option would be to run a train either empty or loaded only, but needing to access the runround loop, as access to the siding is only available in/from one direction i.e.,empty sleeper trains for the Constain works at Rye House in Herts had to run to Hertford East, run round, then access the works at Rye House by reversing in.
