Keen observers will note that the route of the railway into Kyleakin is also in alignment with the planned Railway Bridge across to Kyle of Lochalsh. Which is expected to commence construction as soon as Government funding has been approved.
If the admirality were up to their usual standards, then that bridge would be something to behold. They always seem to require bridges across navigable waters either to be open able (which would mean a big gap), or with enough air draught to get a battle ship through, in which case you'd probably have to start the approach ramp some where around Drochaid Lusa.

I must say, they do look rather splendid.
Should the wagon carrying the 4 wheeled carriage have the carriage shafts lashed down as well ?

I came across this during my searches. A layout opportunity with a difference, for the patient tree modeller! I believe Withington was GWR, ex-MSWJR?
That is a different Withington. The one that you are showing here is on the GWR route between Hereford and Worcester.

Nicely done (as usual). I think the "clutter" on the footplate is a nice finishing touch.

Only on RMWeb would you find such a topic.
Well researched !.

Please let me know what you think.
I'll bite.
For what it's worth, I agree with you. Making a decent 3D print of anything complex takes a great deal of skill, both with the CAD side of things, and in knowing how to exploit the printer. A different set of skills to those required to scratch build, certainly, but skills all the same.

Craftsmanship / Clever doesn't really do those justice.

Outstanding, as has been the rest of the workshop.
I think the wall idea is good in principle, but I'm not sure about having predominantly vertical stones (above the right hand, level with the ear) in it, but if such things exist in the wild, fine.

I've spent several minutes looking at that first picture, and I still can't decide if it is a model or the real thing.

Apparently you can pop magazines and newspapers in the microwave to ‘decontaminate’ them...!
Hmm, I think I'll leave the microwave to its more traditional use.

I wasn't sure whether to give this a "craftmanship" or "Informative" marking, as I felt it deserved both. The idea of "soldering" PLA hadn't occurred to me.

Brilliant.
Does the handle on the lever unplug ?

Very nice, I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of this develops.

Thanks, a nice level of detail there.

Very nice, but what scale are they ?

I like the instructions with the middle picture.
Joking aside, that looks brilliant.

I think that this is obviously not the correct picture for the caption! More than that I am at a loss. Does the men's clothing help? It looks like 50s?
I've been having another think about this. From the design of the barges, I'm fairly sure that it is Yorkshire, but there weren't that many large covered docks. The one in Sheffield still exists, but it isn't that one (there was no quayside under cover). I think that there was one in Leeds (Dock Street, which had been the Aire & Calder company's headquarters), but it looks as though it has now been redeveloped, and I can't find any old photos of it.
With the bales of material, that would tie in with Leeds's textile industry. There is some writing on the side of the trailer, but I think you'd need the original to read it.

The first two may be Brentford, but the third looks like Gloucester docks, I'm intrigued as to the location of the last picture. The barges look very much like Humber Keels, which would be well off the GWR patch.

No specific questions (but thanks for asking).
I find this sort of blog fascinating, watching some one (or a group) taking something that might be a heap of junk or something that sort of works, and seeing how they go about making it as good as new, or in some cases, rather better.
So whether it is restoring some bit of badly corroded or accident damaged body work, engine overhaul, or an explanation of how the beast is controlled, I'm happy to read it.
