Superb views! Very inspirational, I particularly like the "dusk" shot (2nd down) with the lights just coming on.
It must have been quite hard to capture.

Railtech do custom lettering to order.
You would need to order 20 lines but that would cover a few wagons:-

I've done this specific wording for some wagons, as I work in 2mm it saves my sanity!

Very smooth considering it is fresh off the bench.

It's always good to see how people attack their lathe work.
Thanks for sharing this Anthony.

Hi Pete,
If it doesn't work for you there is no point in investing more hard come by modelling time.
No point in looking backwards.

Very neatly done Mikkel.
I have one of them in the unbuilt kits box ( with a sticker on it that says £2.50 !! ) so I'll be building it your way when I get round to it.
Would it have got to Glasgow ? Perhaps, shipping or engineering parts in both directions.
Hi Dave,
Within the True Line archive CD from the Caledonian Railway Society there is a series of articles by Mike Williams on research into the freight traffic through the Callander and Oban junction onto the line from the main line in the summer of 1920 (the C&O being an independent railway operated and part owned by the Caley freight was logged for payment purpose).
Within the records are "4 repatriated GWR empties" Saturday 4th September 1920
Also recorded was an LBSCR wagon.
I would guess these would work up the West Coast Mainline and then through Glasgow to Stirling.
Hope this helps.

Hi Pete, there are a few books and loads of magazine articles on the line, I've slowly been collecting them ove the past decade or so ready to model Killin Junction . Most cover the steam era, or early green diesel period though.
Let me know if you a looking for something specific, I'd be happy to help.

Good choice Pete, Loch Awe is a great location!
Always good see a C&O line model, it's always the modelling poor relation to the West Highland and the Highland.
I was contemplating Loch Awe instead of Killin Junction for a while.
Back in Caley days it received traffic tripped from Ben Cruachan quarry worked by a private engine which would add to the operational interest.
There are plenty of photos of the line (but only one photo of Loch Awe) here (assuming you've not already found this site):-

Plans of most of the C&O station buildings have appeared in the True Line Journal, I'll take a look and see if Loch Awe is among them.
A CD is available from the Caledonian Railway Association with most of the back numbers.

Hi Mikkel,
It must have been a daunting step to take making that first cut.
I'm glad it all work out!

It was a pleasure to meet you and Kylie at Stafford Pete,
She was performing flawlessly when I was watching and you've got me thinking about sound conversions now!
I like the T-shirt.

The class 21s have always been a personal favourite, I don't know why as I never saw them in service.
I think it is because they are so unloved, and therefore relatively rare in photos.
Also, although ugly, they definitely have character.
I have a Worsley Works etch to base a 2mm model on at some point when I've cleared my workbench.
I'm looking forward to seeing yours come together

Looks good Pete, I shall look forward to Stafford all the more knowing that Kyle will be there.
-
It still looks great, it definitely needs another airing!

Hi Dave,
I sometimes think we have a tendency to model other models, rather than reality, coal staithes being a case in point.
Looking at photographs of stations they don't seem as common as our models would suggest, rather coal heaps as you've modelled.
Extrapolating up if a small village of few hundred souls has a couple of wagon loads of coal a week to keep it going then a sizable town needs much more as evidence in your model.

Superb modelling Mikkel, everything looks right, the pose of the figures, the colour pallet, the tone.
Simply lovely and well observed.
-
I always thought this showed huge promise, good to see it alive and kicking again Pete.
-
I'm sure I've seen some of them before, Just can't remember where..........
-
It looks surperb, the windows are particulaly fine.
How did you do them?
-
Sorry to hear that Pete, I was looking forward to watching this come together.
I thought it would match Kyle rather well.
I guess we'll just have to be satisfied with Meeth!
-
Looks good Pete, I like the way the mock is better constructed than some layouts!
I've been pondering a DJLC entry but haven't managed to come up with anything worthwhile, I wonder if I can justify a trip to Germany in the aid of inspiration!

That looks really good and you've captured the complex shapes of the real thing well. It must have been a swine to build!
