  1. Back in the day lots of smaller powered locos running around in pairs or even triples, all now gone, replaced by one large loco. Loco goes with the work and gets seen to where it ends up, e.g. DIRFT as pointed out above. No longer any parcels trains running from major stations needing locos close by, end of EWS Mail meant end of Canton by them, although used now by Colas as a base in SWales. Modern EMD locos built on over 50 years experience of all weathers and temperatures in the US makes a more reliable loco. Small loco depots do exist however, you just have to find them. So St Blazey still used by 1 and a half 66s a week. Canton, Colas. Leicester for UKrl, Derby station and over the road used by ROG, NR, and others. Washwood Heath closing as I speak to go where ? Crewe has DB, FLR, DRS, and the new steam/diesel based in the old loco shed. I'm sure others can name their local depots. Looking at DMUs and EMUs, depots have sprung up everywhere, some small some large.
  2. The Antics web page seems to confirm the above screengrab of what's in the pipeline, intresting, very interesting ! https://anticsonline.uk/N425/N1322/N2350_Little-Loco-Company/index.html
  3. Reported today that NB has been sold to WCRC, those DRS 57s in Pullman livery will need a repaint soon then. I guess Kidderminster will lose some work as well.
  4. Perhaps we should release the froth by remembering what Steve said on the FB page the other week about the commonality of parts the new type 2 has with other locos ? :-) Froth away !
  5. Absolutely spot on, I've tried to avoid a frothy debate so have only confirmed what has been stated on the Project 22 FB page. They say the 3D graphics are from a forthcoming 7mm model from a company that they have worked closely with. They so far do not name the company. The quality of the cad work is a sight to behold. The drive train on the bogie is wonderful. Whoever has/ is doing this is a top quality company which has strived to come up with a model of astonishing realism. We can all try and guess who's making it but for myself I'm not that bothered, if the model is as good as it looks then that's the prize. A near perfect 22. No need for upgrades, new motors, filing and sanding, perfect from the off. I'm sorry now that I mentioned seeing the Project 22 posting on this page. I know realise I should have started a new thread on the 22. If it's nothing to do with LLC then I can only apologise for leading some people up the garden path ! Live and learn.
  6. Late with the news, but to confirm it's been stated on the Project 22 FB page that's it 7mm.
  7. I will follow this with interest, growing up in Cardiff I saw a lot of the WR sets in the 70s including some of the lesser ones which always seemed to be more interesting. Such as the 2 car 120s with headlights, the 120s with box headcode s, the odds ones like the Canton refurbished 116 with a Met Cam blue centre car... Have fancied something like this myself, a 2 car, a 25/22 with a couple of chaina clays. Basic railway 70s style. Heljan are promising 117s and 120s for those with deep pockets. Keep it up !
  8. Just a quick 'heads up' to draw attention to those who don't normally buy MRJ. 10 pages and a cover on Mr Gravetts latest epic, 7ft x 1ft 9in of Sussex coastline in the 50s. Yet another example of a master modellers work, sheer bliss.
  9. Another 3D graphic on the Project 22 fb page this week. A stunning shot of the detail on the side of the body of the model, I am going to have a massive hole in my pocket as I'll want to have 2 of them. Not bothered who's making it, I just want it !!
  10. Simple answer is no. The 68s have been in the area on test trains before Colas bought the 67s and on the odd Pullman special. The Chiltern and Scotrail pair are for their services. Now you will have seen pictures of these on such as the Crewe - mountsorrell NR trains but that's because they have been used to test them after undergoing exams at Crewe. I'd imagine both TOCs would wonder why their locos were off on a jolly in the south west ! But as you said it's your railway !
  11. Have a heart Bri,think of me eyesight butty !
  12. Not if you buy off eBay ! Just got a LBSCR Terrier in lovely condition for a decent price for my Col Stevens micro, you just have to wait a bit for the right loco to come along !!
  13. Guilty as charged ! Whilst not being a WR modeller I do think the small stuff is very attractive, mind so do you as I remember seeing the railbus on your model ! I'm proposing a series of micro layouts, mine will be a WR China clay 60s with a railbus, railcar, 63xx, warship. Col Stephens with a Terrier and a Hudswell Clarke and a couple of connoisseur coaches, and a 60s BR scrap siding which could have anything but mine will have a Fowler and a 15. I'll just move between layouts as the mood takes me ! It's not all bad for the others is it ? I mean the ER chap has a 15, 20, 25, 31, 37, 40, in diesels and I'm not sure in steam, like wise the LMs will have a Jinty. I'm sure more branch line power will appear in the near future from all directions for the 0 scale man. As you say it's stock we want, and the recent Dapol and Lionheart wagons are brilliant. We really need a 4/6 wheel coach now to follow the Light Railway theme. We have come an amazing distance in a very short time I feel. Well done to all the manufacturers.
  14. Prisoner in the dock, Taking your previous good behaviour into account the court accepts your plea for clemency. Case dismissed. I'm going to look really stupid now if it turns up a Baby Deltic !!!! Mad, quite mad ;:-) John.
  15. I just knew someone would ask this question ! Not any kind of expert myself and off the top of my head I can only guess of 5 major differences but I think those wanting to find some info can wade through these. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/51518-class-22-detail-variation/page-2 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/1150-Dapol-class-22/?&fromsearch=1 Have fun !
  16. Sorry Low Decker, if you look at the 3D image it's obviously a 22, it's fitted with spoked wheels. I was just slightly pulling the legs of those on here who were hoping for a BD. Project 22 is building a 22, they would hardly put up images of a 23 bogie would they ? They have let the cat out of the bag, either by accident or design. Steve has said that the mystery type 2 has no ER connections. He has also recently said the new loco has " 8 versions of the nose to consider " The prosecution rests its case....:-)
  17. Oh yes, the 3D is breathtakingly wonderful, never seen a diesel bogie that is as prototypical as that, now who's done it I wonder ? Haven't a clue !
  18. Forgot to add, what we will need is a good 1960s China Clay wagon to go with it !
  19. Anyone on the Project 22 Facebook page last night would have seen a very good 3D graphic of a 22 model bogie.........so it's a baby Deltic then.... Not :-)
  20. Anyone following the conversation on the LLC Facebook page in the last couple of days ? Very interesting !!
  21. Whilst I agree with the idea of suddenly waking up one morning and finding the whole model railway world has moved into P4 I also doubt it will ever happen. Peco going to its new track work in OO is a big minus for everyday P4, it will make what exists now look better, it will make a move to P4 even more unlikely for the vast majority for whom ' if it looks right etc' The elephant in the room is not ' will someone like Bachman make P4' its will Backman AND Peco do it as a joint enterprise ? One without the other won't work. In the present economic and political state of flux I'd say they would be foolhardy in the extreme to go down that route. End of the day, no matter how desirable, won't happen.
  22. Co - Bo ? You might well be right. I seem to remember that we were informed that the new type 2 would not have ER connections, if that is right then it narrows the choice down to 2/3 classes, 22, 28, and possibly 29. Only type twos not to have been based on the ER at some point.
  23. Sold loads on eBay and not had any problems, good photos, be accurate in your description and put on post free and then as said bung up the price to cover it and if they are any good they will fly out. And pack them very well and expensive stuff use RM 24 hr registered. Go to a dealer and you will get dealers prices, ok if you don't want hassle but not the best price. I enjoy eBay some don't. John
  24. Did my eyes deceive me or did the new batch of 08s on display not have those brass spacers fitted ? One or two of the models on the stand were old stock with but most seemed to without, I wanted to ask them but couldn't get a word in whilst i were there. Be good if it was. The JLTRT stand had prototypes of the Derby railcars, golly they were beautiful, even in grey and no windows. And they will be doing all variants as well :-) The LLC 48hp was delightful and no doubt will sell thousands !
  25. Forgive my stupidity, but D.O. C. P. Means what exactly ?
