  1. Hi Andy, Definitely Dovercourt, I think it might have been called Dovercourt Bay at one time. I wonder if that signal is 'special' 3ft arm for Non Passenger moves reading onto what looks as if it might be the single line with a through siding alongside. I cant see the Facing Point Lock that would have to be provided for Passenger moves on the points directly ahead of it but the picture is rather dark in that vicinity. There was probably enough room to provide a full size arm if the post was moved away from the line just a little, something the Signal Sighting Committee (or in those days perhaps the S&T New Works Supervisor and Signalling/Traffic Inspector) would have considered. Perhaps someone with local knowledge can help. But for all that what an interesting signal and what a great place it was to send an hour or so. Mike
  2. My 'fondest' memories were on the short ride from Kings Cross to Finsbury Park which gave the full Cravens experience in only a few minutes, accelerating and vibrating up through Gas Works Tunnel , especially in the winter with the heaters blasting out more exhaust fumes than hot air, was a sensory experience never to be forgotten!
  3. Ipswich (I think) June 1983 - a layout size train of GUVs
  4. Somewhere in East Anglia June 1983, sorry about the quality
  5. Diss June 1983, I think the shunting tractor would make a good model.
  6. Class 31 on weed killing train at Lowestoft June 1983
  7. I think - but not too familiar with the area and it was along time ago - unfortunately i did not take notes. Parkeston Parkeston West Harwich Town Dovercourt Wrabness Mistley Norwich
  8. Not sure if this is 'landscape' but plenty of atmosphere I think. Cravens DMUs - cant you just feel the doors/windows/drop lights/seats/luggage racks/bodyside paneling/floor/etc all resonating!
  9. Yes i was there. I was on Westbury PSB operating floor when the signalman (sorry old terminology!) gave 5-5-5 Opening SB to the fringe SBs. Would it be possible to see the Yellow Peril (Notice) - would bring back many happy memories.
  10. Berney Arms in 1984 on a cold and bleak October day. The guard was surprised to find we wanted to get off there, he had been on that train all week and we were so far the only ones to have alighted at Berney Arms. Masses of desolate atmosphere as we walked away towards Yarmouth, with nothing but the wind and a few birds to break the silence. Impressive pole route too for a branch line, I guess the Lineman would have been kept busy when strong winds blew across the flat countryside. Climbing spikes, wire strainers and a mox iron, happy days! Mike
  11. Not a great pic but these Army wagons at Bramley Ordnance dept in 1987 might make an interesting scratch build. I believe they were used to transport forklift trucks around the many ammunition sheds in this long closed facility.
  12. Not sure if this qualifies as small or quaint but here is Yarmouth yard October 1984 with a lonely international wagon, looks like the yard has seen better days.
  13. Hi Guy Now that makes sense, I reckon I was a year out! 47085 MAMMOTH with the CCT may have been taken at Westbury during the resignalling/remodelling in about April/May 84. I wish I had kept notes when I took the pics, I have to rely on very faded dates on the slides, just month and year, misread that one. Mike
