  1. Another trip around East Anglia with all photos taken on 24th March 2017. 158865 at Ely. 170637 and 317668 at Ely. 170270 at Ipswich. 66568 and 70005 at Ipswich. A London Liverpool Street service at Norwich. 68016 at Norwich. Chris Turnbull
  2. I also like to keep my desktop clear and keep anything I use regularly in my Taskbar. That allows me to use the keyboard shortcut of Windows Logo Key + 1, 2, 3 etc, counting from the left hand side and ignoring the Start and Search icons. The first icon on my Taskbar that I count from just happens to be File Explorer so that's no. 1 - and, yes, I do realise that Windows Logo key > E also opens File Explorer. I have always found keyboard shortcuts to be much quicker than using a mouse provided you can remember what the shortcuts are. Many years ago when I used to have to work I had a chap from the accounts department join me so I could show him what I did. He didn't believe that keyboard shortcuts were quicker so we had a few friendly contests. After a short time I had converted him to a shortcut aficionado. Chris Turnbull
  3. Alternatively, uninstall one update at a time and try your PC or laptop after each uninstall. Eventually you should find the update that is affecting your PC or laptop. Reinstall all updates one at a time (if you can) and if the problem reappears then you will know which update must be removed until Microsoft issues a patch. If the first installation of the troublesome update was corrupted you may not have to wait for a patch and everything will be fine after reinstallation. Chris Turnbull
  4. If you think it is the latest update that is causing the problem, what about setting a restore point before the update, uninstalling the update and then reinstalling it? Chris Turnbull
  5. I am now getting close to the end of my photographs but before i do, here's a few more of Felixstowe. 153309 at the truncated remains of Felixstowe Town station on 3rd September 2005, 08531 shunts freightliner flats at the north end of Felixstowe docks on 21st October 2017. 66593 3MG Mersey Multimodal Gateway drifts downgrade at the Blofield Track crossing headed towards Felixstowe North on 24th October 2018. 66758 The Pavior exits Felixstowe South at the start of its journey with 4ML02 to Hams Hall at the Beach Station Road crossing on 10th June 2022. And now for something completely different. This is the remains of the Languard Point tramway on 26th July 2019. Shingle was dredged from the far end of this tramway and taken to a jetty for loading onto ships. This is the jetty as it is was on 24th July 2018. It has been substantially rebuilt and altered since it had a rail connection and was used to load shingle. On the day of the photograph it was being used to host the semi-final of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year. My wife and I had no idea this was being filmed and went to Landguard Point for a cooling sea breeze on what was the hottest day of that year. As we approached the pods (as they are called) we passed several notices saying that if we went any further we were consenting to be filmed. We both thought "Yeah, right" but when we watched the show later in the year, there we were full frame, admiring the artists hard at work. They must have had hidden cameras as we had no idea we were being filmed. The show was hosted by Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell who were both there and I can attest how wonderful Joan Bakewell looked for an 85 year-old. If I am as able at that age as she was I shall be well pleased (assuming I get that far). Chris Turnbull
  6. No, no problems at all so far. You might have a look at your notification settings just in case there is anything switched on that is causing a problem: right click on the Time and Date at the right of the Taskbar and select Notification settings. You can switch Notifications off entirely if you wish. Chris Turnbull
  7. A short while ago I promised a return to Nottingham Express Transit (NET). All photos were taken on 2nd August 2006 during a visit organised by the Railway Study Association. Here's a view from the Wilkinson Sreet depot towards the running lines with Wilkinson Street station on the right. And this is the view from Wilkinson Street station towards Nottingham with the depot on the left. This is the control room in Wilkinson Street Depot. I expect it's different now. Highbury Vale with the branch to Phoenix Park on the right and the Robin Hood Line on the left. This is Phoenix Park, the end of the branch. Chris Turnbull
  8. DVT 82133 at Ipswich on 25th July 2009 with a Norwich service. 153314 at Derby Road on the same day. 90009 at Norwich on 7th March 2009. Chris Turnbull
  9. A selection from various preserved railways today. Bury on the East Lancashire Railway on 23rd October 2016 with 12322 providing steam heating. The other end of the line with 50015 at Rawteshall on the same day. Some fine Midland signals at Embsay on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway on 14th September 2022. No.7 Beatrice runs round its train at Embsay on the same day. The replica Iron Duke at Toddington on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway on 19th February 2012. 43106 at Kidderminster on the Severn Valley Railway on 22nd February 2015. Chris Turnbull
  10. Yes, that's correct. It was used by someone while I was taking a photo but it wasn't accessible by oiks like me. Chris Turnbull
  11. Today my wife and I went to Cambridge to see the film The Menu. As always we allowed time for her to empty as many charity shops as possible in the Kite area before having a bite to eat and seeing the film which gave me an opportunity to gravitate towards Mill Road bridge to take a few photographs. I was half way there when I realised that today was a strike day and that I might be wasting my time. I wasn't disappointed, however. To make things more interesting, I've included similar shots of days gone by all of which have been posted before but which make fascinating comparisons with the current scene. 720528 backs extremely slowly into the carriage sidings at Cambridge on 4th January 2023. On 20th March 1981 31205 heads north with a tank train. 720540 with 105 behind forms 2H27, the 11.13 from Cambridge North to Liverpool Street. 31205 continues its journey north on 20th March 1981. 700001 heads north towards Ely as 1T20, the 11.27 from Cambridge to Ely. And here is the same view on 14th September 1974. Chris Turnbull

An unidentified Meridian at Nottingham on 2nd August 2006. 153383 and an unidentified Meridian at Nottingham on the same day. 156413 at Nottingham also on 2nd August 2006. The south end of Derby station looking north on 27th August 2005. Derby on 1st March 2014 looking south towards the bridge from which the last photo was taken. 170106 (I think) at Derby on the same day. Chris Turnbull

Lisbon on 28th October 2019. The Hohenzollern Bridge over the Rhine at Cologne on 21st June 2003. Budapest West on 7th August 2013. Chris Turnbull
  14. More from Wales today. Cardiff Central on 24th May 2010. 170637 at Cardiff Central on the same day. Porthmadog on the Ffestiniog on a wet and dismal 7th May 2016. The next day, the 8th May, was far nicer. This is our Welsh Highland train at Carnaevon. En route on the WHR to Beddgelert. And here is SAR 87 after arrival at Beddgelert. Chris Turnbull
  15. A last few photos from Cambridge today. Looking north on 12th April 2003. 365511 in platform 3 on 2nd November 2008. 365533 at platform 1 on 25th July 2009. 317653 and 317502 on the same day. By 2012 the new island platform had been built. This is 7th April 2012' Ten years later on 5th December 2022 this is 66777 Annette on the Railhead Treatment Train. Chris Turnbull
  16. On 5th November 2004 the Railway Study Association organised a visit to the Bicester Military Railway. I have posted some photos from this visit before but here are those that I have not yet shared. We first visited the loading area where we could see in detail how these wagons are loaded. Later in the day we were taken around the site in this coach and then... ... we were allowed a bit of driving practice on this loco. I was told to slow down! We were also shown how to rerail wagons by the boys and girls freshly returned from Iraq where they had honed their craft to perfection. The railway also provided secure storage for various items of stock. Here's HST 43084 in debranded Virgin livery. Chris Turnbull
  17. Since the forecast was good today and my better half was suffering from Cabin Fever after being cooped up over Christmas with the grandchildren we decided to head out into the Suffolk countryside. We ended up at Sudbury just in time for me to photograph the 14.26 to Marks Tey. Here is 755325 just after arrival at 14.21. This is why selective door opening is needed. On 11th July 2015 this is 360110 at Ipswich. The yard at Ipswich on the same day with, amongst others, 321302 and 66517. Norwich, very nearly seven years ago on a cold 2nd January 2016. 153309 basks in the sunshine at Norwich on 24th March 2017. Chris Turnbull
  18. I wondered who'd be the first to spot that...😀 Chris Turnbull
  19. After a good Christmas and with grandfather duties performed satisfactorily, here's another selection from London. On 17th April 2004 a class 321 approaches the platform at Stratford. On 10th February 2009 this is Stratford from the access bridge to the Westfield Shopping Centre, then under construction. 376022 at London Bridge on 8th July 2008. On the same day this is Lewisham London Bridge (again). 91121 at the Cross on 15th December 2007. 1938 stock (I think) at the Acton LT Museum on 18th February 2008. Chris Turnbull
  20. Another trip around East Anglia today. 66711 Sence passes through Soham on 19th October 2022 with 4L02 Hams Hall to Felixstowe South. 755402 waits at Bury St Edmunds forming the 11.21 Ipswich to Cambridge service on 5th December 2022. 755411 takes the Bury line at Haughley Junction forming an Ipswich to Cambridge service on 25th August 2022. Ipswich on 2nd November 2013 with153335 in the siding and 170202 at platform 4. 66541 drifts through Ipswich on 20th February 2010 while DVT 82107 is on the rear of a Liverpool Street working. Norwich on 11th July 2015 where 37425 Sir Robert McAlpine/Concrete Bob (nearest camera) and 37405 top and tail a service to Great Yarmouth. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. There will now be a short break in transmission as I have family matters to see to over the next few days and I doubt my grandparent duties will allow me to post any photographs. As soon as i am able I will return. Chris Turnbull
  21. Another trip to varoius preserved railways / heritage centres today. 08436 at Swanage on 12th September 2012. 80104 runs round its train at Swanage on the same day. Shildon on a wet 4th June 2005. The diesel is 13079 but I'm not sure what the steam loco is. It looks like a J94 to me but I suspect it is an industrial loco of similar parentage. Another wet day, this time at Bridgnorth; 22nd February 2015. 90775 running round its train at Sheringham on 19th July 2008. A lovely floral display at Embsay on 14th September 2022. This just shows the effort that many unpaid and unsung volunteers put in on our preserved railways. I have used the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway as an example but I am sure I could have taken a similar photo on the majority of such lines. Well done to all concerned. Chris Turnbull
  22. Thanks to Dave F posting some photos of Nottingham in days gone by I was reminded that on 2nd August 2006 I paid a visit to Nottingham Express transit (NET) courtesy of the Railway Study Association. Here is tram 205 Lord Byron at Station Street which was then the southern terminus. Tram 206 at Goldsmith Street. In the background is the Newton Building of what was Trent Polytechnic when I was there in the 1970s. On to Wilkinson Street where the NET depot is located. This is Highbury Vale where the line to Phoenix Park diverges to the right. The line on the left is the Robin Hood Line to Mansfield Tram 202 DH Lawrence at Hucknall, then the terminus of the line. I have more photos to post but, sadly, RMWeb is playing up again and refuses to let me post any more than five photos. Expect a revisit sometime. Chris Turnbull
  23. As a change to East Anglia here's a trip round London today. 415730 at Clapham Junction on 12th July 2008. An unidentified Grand Central HST at Kings Cross on 18th October 2008. 319383 at London Bridge on 12th July 2008. I'm not sure what the other unit is but i am sure someone can tell me. Marylebone on 13th February 2016. Chris Turnbull
