  1. Thank you to all for your replies. Yes, it looks like 9J22 which is shown as "N/R" on my RTT which I took to be "not running". There was a cancellation so that was it. However, what I don't understand why is there no Actual Pass time shown in the list of trains for Huntingdon yet it shows up in the specific train times. Chris Turnbull
  2. I was on Huntingdon station today spending a couple of hours photographing trains (surprise, surprise). I was diligently making notes of what each train was from Real Time Trains (RTT) and was doing well until this came through. It is a down service on the down fast and came through at about 11.32. Can I find this on RTT? Can I hell! According to RTT there was a down Lumo service at 11.25 which I saw, followed by a Grand Central service to Bradford at 11.34 which is shown as a class 180. Then RTT shows there were a couple of LNER Azumas at 11.36 (to Edinburgh) and 11.38 (to Leeds). So, does anyone know what service this was? Chris Turnbull
  3. Looks like the old heavy rail route to me. Here's a photo of it on 6th November 1970 with the station in the background. Chris Turnbull
  4. Just to be a pedantic sod, J4287 and C3569 are not Ipswich Docks but the Lower Goods Yard. The docks were further along. Here's a photo of the same area on 11th June 2022. Chris Turnbull
  5. Here's a couple of photos of the fuelling point at Ipswich. Taken on 22nd Mrch 2022 it was probabaly OOU by this time. On 11th July 2015 the fueling point is being well-used. Chris Turnbull
  6. Good choice, Russ. I had forgotten about Norwich. Here is Norwich on 22nd March 2022 showing platforms 4 and 5 in the centre clearly wired with 6 on the far right unwired. Chris Turnbull
  7. As an impressionable 14 year-old I found it hilarious when it first came out. I'd never laughed so much. Now, as a grizzled old curmudgeon, I can't understand what I ever found funny. Chris Turnbull
  8. The East Anglia Group of the Gauge One Model Railway Association has now gone live with its new website. https://www.angliag1.com/ If any person, or club, is interested in visiting us, or if any exhibition managers fancy having a Gauge One layout at their exhibition then please get in touch. Chris Turnbull
  9. Have you seen this? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-11-do-not-distrub-constantly-turns-itself/5a5dfd5f-a286-4972-9457-161a3616cc6c?page=1 Chris Turnbull
  10. Have you tried restarting in Safe Mode? If the problem persists in Safe Mode then you have a Windows problem. If the system runs well in Safe Mode, the problem lies with a driver, a start-up service or some other programme loaded beyond the Windows basics. If you do decide to try Safe Mode then stick to the mildest form, Diagnostic mode. Please note: Safe Mode is not for the faint-hearted. Chris Turnbull
  11. Which Dell desktop are you using? I have a Dell Inspiron 3981 and have no such trouble. Chris Turnbull
  12. Good to see you are stil photographing the current scene - well done. My photography is on hold since I fell off my bicycle, dislocated my hip and broke my femur. I'm on the mend now but it takes ages. I guess I'm not as young as I was and don't bounce so well. Chris Turnbull
  13. Yes, it has. Stetchworth Church near me boasts some early English gaffiti carved into a pillar depicting the visit of a Queen Philippa (whoever she was) along with several animals. Chris Turnbull
  14. All the discussion so far has been about semaphore signalling as far as I can see. Here's an example of colour-light signalling. A class 153 leaves Cromer for Sheringham, in this case with a green aspect which ensures that the train will pass the SPAD indicators with no problem. The "S" is set by the position of the crossover; if it were set for the Norwich road an "N" would be displayed. Here are the fully functioning and interlocked SPAD indicators. People think they are dummies until I send a train out against a red aspect - sometimes deliberately, sometimes not. If this does happen then power is automatically cut to the track and the SPADS flash. Fortunately, all I then have to do is hit the reset button to continue. The people most intrigued by this are drivers and signalling engineers. Chris Turnbull
  15. When I built Cromer I made the layout supports six inches wider to which a handrail is bolted. This photo shows the idea. I have found this quite adequate for my needs over the years and I have had none of the problems that others seem to have had. The row of chairs along the front is an optional feature and one that I prefer although not all shows offer them. What they do is provide somewhere for children to stand who then lean on the rail provided while they watch the trains. This is also welcomed by weary parents who stay longer to give their arms a rest. I think there must be something pschological about this as children rarely touch the layout itself. Of course this does require the initial design to take this into account but I see no reason why a clip-on or bolt-on handrail could not be provided for an existing layout. Chris Turnbull
  16. It's been a while since I posted an update on this Gauge One layout during which time we have modified the track layout to the station area, installed new platforms and new buildings and a bridge. Here's a taster: 35028 Clan Line speeds through the new station on the inner steam track. Here's a similar view without the locomotive in the way! Looking in the opposite direction. This shows the fine bridge from the other side of the layout. The station throat at one end. The station throat from the other end. There's still some ballasting to complete and this will be done when the weather gets a bit warmer. It's no fun ballasting in the cold plus it takes a long time to dry with the possibility of frost damage on a cold night. If there is anyone in the East Anglia area who would like to visit this layout the please PM me. Club visits are particularly welcome. Chris Turnbull
  17. A Google search has thrown up this page. I don't know if it works or even if it's wise but you could give it a try. https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/how-to-uninstall-microsoft-edge/ There may be other solutions available if you do a search. Chris Turnbull
  18. C2844: Love the bi-directional distant arms on one post. Prototype for everything, possibly? Chris Turnbull
  19. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else use File History and System Backup to back up their files? I do because from what I have read, OneDrive does not back up everything. It certainly does not look at my Music or Video folders (not that I have much in them). Chris Turnbull
  20. I've just about reached the end of my photos now so here's a final trip around East Anglia, all taken in on 11th July 2015 except for the first one. 170202 at Ely on a wet and dismal 6th January 2015. 66535, 66505 and 158855 at Ely on 11th July 2015. Moving on to Ipswich on the same day, this is 90014 (I think) on a Norwich working with 90010 bound for Liverpool Street. Meanwhile in the yard is 70011. Finally to Norwich where there's 37405 on a Great Yarmouth working. And lastly here's an unidentified class 90 on a Liverpool Street working. I hope you have enjoyed my photographs from 1963 to the present day but this is more au revoir than goodbye as I intend to post a few photographs as I take them, especially if I can do a "Then and Now" feature which I know you like. Until then it's cheerio from me. Chris Turnbull
  21. A fine selection fron Bury and Ely, David. As a Bury boy I remember the station well, albeit in the 50s and 60s. By '83 I had moved away although my parents still lived there. Ely: I drove under that bridge this morning on my way into town for an eye test! Great photos, thank you. Chris Turnbull
  22. A few photos from Europe today. Starting at Vienna Westbahnhof on 3rd August 2013. And this is how they do integrated transport on the continent. The outside of Vienna Westbahnhof on the same day. The fine station building at Wroclaw on 12th June 2016. Still in Poland, this is Krakow Glowny on 17th June 2016. Munich on 2nd August 2013. The lighting conditions left a lot to be desired! Danish glory. Copenhagen station on 27th July 2015. Chris Turnbull
  23. After a good day yesterday running my FEF3 at the G1MRA East Anglia Group's track I awoke this morning to find I had no internet connection. All the lights were on on my router, all connections secure and even after a restart there was nothing. So nothing wrong my end. A phone call to my ISP followed where there was a pre-recorded message. "Restart your router every hour and by the evening all should be well." I didn't hold out much hope but I was wrong. After an hour I was back up and running so here's today's selection of photos, all of Ely in the Noughties. 60032 on 3rd November 2001. 170202 on 26th August 2004. 317668 on 2nd August 2006. A couple of 170's one of which is 170270 on 17th January 2006. 170636 on 17th February 2007. 158883 on 23rd June 2009. Chris Turnbull
  24. Another visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway today. USA 2-8-0 at Grosmont on 5th October 2013. 69023 and 63395 waiting to depart Grosmont on 2nd October 2010. And here they are putting up a fine display as they leave. Grosmont on 16th August 1999. 62005 at Grosmont on the same day. On 2nd October 2010 trains were running to Whitby where I photographed 45428. I doubt if I will have time to post anything tomorrow as I am off to a local G1MRA meeting where I shall give my Union Pacific FEF3 4-8-4 a run. All being well I'll be back at my PC on Thursday.
