In my case using Firefox, if you hover the cursor over the date/time of the post (top left), on the bottom of my screen is a line that starts with 'https.... and ends .....= 3333333' (number used as an example). That, I assume, is the number to which you refer. This used to appear as a standard feature at the top of the post, but was removed when the site was upgraded. I don't know if there is a way of calling up the post simply by typing the number in the Search Box, as I've never tried.
