    Dapol Class 22

Hi everyone, my mine arrived today D6316. Just could not resist it and was most interested to see what Dapol could do! Initially, the cab lights did not work, but found the little plug was out so that's fixed Note the body is quite a sloppy fit by the battery box. Runs nice, little bit gear'ee but I'll let that run in before risking popping the bogie frames off. Looks stunning and more so with all the valances fitted now. My only true moan is the horrible headcode stickers! might need to find a way to slide them off and fit some of my own, that you can see when the loco is not moving. Other than that, what a little stunner
  4. Good afternoon everyone. Finally I have weakened and purchased one of these, was going to happen as I am a Southern man LOL But while the model is lovely and the detail really nice I am bitterly disappointed that Hornby have left off any lights at all! Even the old Triang 3 SUB had lights Guess I have been spoiled by the Bachmann offerings etc Guess I should do my research before parting with the cash. Would I have purchased had I have known? no, not really this to me is a huge step back. That said has anyone added at least head code lights to one yet?
  5. Hi Head code discs, I had a quick go at fitting mine but they would not stay on? Did these locos always run with discs? What code would I be showing if all my discs were fitted and open (don't want to block any lights) The model runs perfectly, really pleased with that and am now trying to find some movies of a class 15 in action, can anyone help with that? Found a class 16 in action. Cheers Mike
  6. OK thanks, I saw that earlier in the thread. I feel it best to leave off the boxes then! Hope to see a fully detailed photo soon! Got to add the disc's to mine yet but initial trails tonight show this to be a very sweet runner! :-) Mike
  7. Hi Mine arrived today :-) Gee I love these early locos, wonder if anyone will dare to make a Fell? that would be something. Can anyone post a nice picture of the model with all its details fitted please? Can't see where the big sand boxes go? Thanks
  8. Hi Don't worry you don't have to do anything to it, it will work out of the box, but if you want it to work even better then some of the ideas here will help you do that! You could look at my two videos on youtube and see some very simple ideas for improvements? http://www.youtube.com/user/mikesndbs I guess in the end it depends what you want from it? Good luck
  9. Just found this loco! more cost LOL
  10. Thanks, let us know how you get on Mike
  11. Hi Here is a simple low cost way to deal with the extra side play in the drive cranks. 10mins, no stripping down and about £1 Cheers Mike
  12. Love that picture! Re the LED and headcode. Once I fitted the headcode as shown on my video, I found the light more than OK! Reading the tales of errors here, and seeing as these are made in China, I fail to see why they are so highly priced! Can't imagine Bachmann charging ??115 for the same thing? But, all that said and errors accepted, this is a fantastic ready to run model! I love mine and am very pleased with it. Cheers all Mike
  13. Hi Do you think this is a missing part on the model? it would seem to be a very clumsy mistake if not. Mike
  14. Hi I have found that if you just hook them up there is no issue with the coupling? You can see mine working here on tight curves. Yes the couplings are sloppy like all Heljan locos, but a shim will solve this. I did remove the coupling hook to make the model look better. Cheers Mike
  15. Hi My full video will be up on YouTube around midnight I guess, its uploading now. It deals with fitting the bits including head codes. The issues of the stuck on cab, rectifying the gap under the cab after. There is also a test run with various loads. I am off to bed as am on duty at 03:55 tomorrow, I'll leave it uploading. Not trying to teach anyone how to suck eggs but the content may be of help to some. Cheers Mike Here is the review:
  16. Hi So where did the Teddy Bear name come from? Also has anyone got a close up pic of all the bits correctly fitted? its not that apparent from the drawing. Mike
  17. Hi Mine arrived today :-) got to work out where all the bits go as the Heljan diagramme is very hard to understand. But I have test run it and it is very smooth. Looks good as well. Plan a video review once I can fully assemble it LOL Here is a preview. By the way sorry for my lack of attendance over recent months, I had a personal tragedy in the summer of last year and everything has been upside down. Just trying to get back to some interests now. Cheers Mike
