  1. well, in pure panic I just dug out my Bachmann N and two Heljan 47s from 2005/7 and all are fine! thank the lord. This has really shaken me however. I take the very best of care of my locos and to think that some may be sitting there rotting away makes my blood run cold Will report back on Hornby's response.
  2. oh UTTER terror, just got my 31 270 out to find this same issue it's literally falling apart, gutted as I love it. Rails Sheffield Feb 2007 brand new. The chassis is crumbling, unbelievable. Are other loco types affected the same, this is a terrifying development
  3. ? thread gone dead lol Can anyone confirm how the pick ups are arranged? Mine was squeaking so I undid the little covers over each axle and cleaned the fluff that had built up and re greased the gears and bearings. As I was disassembling the wheel sets both sprung up and as far as I can see the pickup wires press on the tread of the wheels and not the backs as the instructions say. Is this right? Thanks

    Hornby P2

Happy Christmas everyone, this video included my P2 with it's upgraded motor pulling 9 coaches very smoothly. Rather pleased with it now http://youtu.be/WXVWu7IGJE4 (Try as I might I can't get the video to show up properly )
  7. yes it would, you little tease lol By the way, seasons greetings to you all and the best for 2015. Cheers Mike
  8. Hmm so how will the pick up shoes be modeled? up or down
  9. Hi Dave That's ok then just spent some hours and cash or sorting out the overhead wires then suddenly thought!! As long as I can raise it up to look like its in contact that will be fine and I fully understand the costs involved etc. Cheers
  10. Hmmm! OK but for when I do my review video I'll be able to extend it up to touch the wires I have just put in place to show how it would have been, is that what you mean by poseable?
  11. Hi, can I confirm that the pantagraph will be operational physically? I want to have a short bit of overhead to demo it
  12. I am sure with the coreless motor and a nice gear train Dave's will run like silk! locos are for running not display cases! Free the locos
  13. OK, I am building up my knowledge of these locos nicely been in touch with a chap who used to drive them, great detail about that. Also now know they had a whistle and not horns, very nice. Would love to see some pics of the cab layout including the pan up/down controls?
  14. Hmm, it will have a easy to use coupling system won't it? Otherwise I am still more than happy to stick with Dave's one and Hornby can go and do one
  15. Just look at the kind of train we will be able to re create! Come on Dave full steam, well weak field ahead
  16. Not wishing to get into an argument but lets look at what we already know. Hornby have with out doubt started dumbing down their products, using the P2 as an example we have fake valve gear that we might have expected in the 70s and a motor that is so indifferent that many people have had to pay out for an upgraded one just to get fair running. The 2Bil while nice has no internal lighting or even headcode/tail light. See Bachmann 108 for how it could have been done. Dave will give us a very accurate model, with lights and a top class motor. So while interesting, Hornby's 71 will have a very great deal to live up to.
  17. Hey! like busses you wait for years then two come along LOL http://www.Hornby.com/news/warley2014/Hornby doing a 71 and in the livery I liked? somehow doubt it will be anywhere near as nice as the one Dave is doing here!
  18. OK Dave, just mailed them, hope they will be ok about it. Cheers
  19. OK Dave, are you able to amend my order or do I go via Kernow?
  20. So if I swapped to OO71-002 would I get the above?
  21. Hi Dave Me to, as I said I thought I was ordering it as preserved. While disappointed it's not so bad that I'll cancel my order but it does mean I have to decide what's most important to me. Can I assume that the all green versions as in my pic attached will have the smart red stripe?
  22. Hi Dave I can find a number of photos showing them with the red stripe but not yellow panel https://www.flickr.com/photos/gricerman/7777195530/in/photolist-cRf9ZW-cRfa8Y-cRfah7-cRf9Lh-hnVUpA-dLzqWC-bfNysp-fDkpB5-fDkhqd-fD3wox-f3LHbM-fD2YwM-6qhwb5-bfNyNV-7TQZPD-ge2UJw-8kaioc-pKC4DK-7TUfgs-8wPmEr-8wPmbv-8wPmr8-8x5LQs-dhApHu-8nc4p7-8x5LUS-aczAK6-aczAfr-6LGMfg-4CBbEE-6LLX11-7TQY36-7TTQa1-bryREX-eE9LUm-fD36JM-fD34ir-fDjLps-fDjHS1-fD3dCD-fD31Pt-fD3sht-fDknZS-fDk1dL-fDjQHY-fD3EzP-fD3mNz-oiUVDd-ahJb1D-o6NQ8w/
  23. It's not the yellow panel but the red stripe along the side. I had thought I was ordering the as preserved livery.
  24. that's really bad news Dave, that's how I like it and as shown
