  1. Can't wait until Xmas !! They look brilliant. Had two 57's and two barrier coaches for a couple of years now, awaiting somebody, (me or someone else), to make the KUA. Got a train at last !!
  2. I had bought two 57's, and the MK2 barrier coaches from R3Sprays, now Rainbow Railways. I had the mistaken impression that I would make two KUA's, to make up the train. DOH !! Time passed, things happened, and a couple of years later I still hadn't built the KUA's. Sold one of the 57's as it didn't look as though I was going to use it. Now Accurascale have come up with the goods, which has made me buy another 57, arrived yesterday, and now awaiting the "middle bits" to make up the train. Might be worth dropping a line to Rainbow to see if they would respond to the need for more barrier coaches, now that Accurascale are doing/have done the difficult bit. Should look great with the KUA's.
  3. Just to clarify. I didn't, for some reason get the very detailed email from Accurascale, which answers my questions. The email, (which I didn't notice had been posted here), together with the recommendations already received, I am quite happy that I am dealing with a totally reputable company, that produce top quality models that have received acclaim. Apologies for hi-jacking this thread ; in my defence I had never heard of Accurascale and didn't know who I was dealing with, and my experience with JLTRT has made me very wary, perhaps understandably. However I did, and still do, want what they are offering. I hope I have used RMweb for the purpose it was intended ; for the un-initiated to learn from a community of those who have the knowledge. Everything is now good ! Many thanks. Regards all. Keith
  4. Thanks Steve ; just want I would want to hear. Look forward to getting the KUA's. Regards
  5. Thanks for this info ; I didn't see it earlier, believe it or not, apologies. All of your reply is interesting, particularly the last part, which answers my questions. Thank you Keith
  6. Thanks for your info Tom, and the recommendation based on your acquisitions. Regards Keith
  7. Hi. Very interested in this thread, and the possibility of acquiring the KUA twin pack. I know this has been discussed since November last year, and apologise for joing rather late. I have placed an order for the Twin Pack KUA's, and have the relevant loco's and coaches waiting for them. Accurascale are a totally new entity to me, and appear to have a very large number of items on their website, which apparently, don't yet exist : No photo's and no feedback. When I broached this subject with them, their repsonse was a little evasive ; saying they would be glad to discuss any matter relating to a specific model, if I wished, but fell short of answering my question, as to why so much of their gear needs to be pre-ordered. I have a few questions relating to this: 1. Are Accurascale a well established company ? 2. Photo's of their items which do exist seem to be highly detailed, and high quality, is this the case ? 3. Why is the framework of the KUA coloured black. or very dark grey ? 4. Does anybody know when the KUA's are likely to be deliverable ? I have been bitten once, pre-ordering something which doesn't exist, ( JLTRT when Waterman "pulled the plug" and cost me £455), so please excuse my nervousness. Just to clarify ; I want everthing to go according to plan with this order, as, if it does, I intend to place a order for the First Transpennine Set 1 or Set 2. Regards Keith
  8. I think you're quite right when you say that we are supposed to be offended by anything and everything. I think an incredible number of people really need to prioritise what is important and what isn't. Maybe we're both just dinosaurs, and we're both definitely doomed !!!
  9. Hi. This will probably be my last comment on this subject, as I have suffered enough high blood pressure when I've thought about it. As if by magic, this is what Waterman and his company have done to my £455.00 ; yes you did read correctly, attached is a scan of the cheque I've received of the Receivers of Just Like The Real Thing, for the princely sum of £0.47. So much for the empathy that Waterman says he has for all things railway !! Don't think I need to say any more................ So I won't.
  10. Hi Gismorail. Thanks for your reply. When you consider that a lot of us who model 7mm are possibly/probably retired, 500,600,700 pounds is certainly a lot of money to spend out of a pension income. Let me see now ; Model or Food ? Best of luck with your Class 24, whichever way you choose to go.
  11. On a happier note, and just to demonstrate that I am not just "out to change the world", I have purchased a Class 15xx model from Warren Shephard. I am extremely happy with every aspect of the purchase ; The price The way the model goes together Post sales support from Warren Quality of fittings and etches Wealth of instructions and drawings The tricky area, with the composite curves required to produce the GWR style bunker, has been solved by supplying brass castings, thus taking the pain out of getting it right. I don't have any connection with Warren Shephard and don't stand to benefit, in any way by making this statement. I know this should be a separate post, but I just wanted to demonstrate that I am not a person who always finds fault with things, and that I will praise, when praise is justified. Regards Keith
  12. I have so far, stated that I am out of pocket to the tune of £455. If I am being perfectly honest, the extent to which I am out of pocket, is considerably more than that. In excited anticipation of receiving the model, I ordered and received all of the additional items I would need to complete : Motor and ABC gearbox (not cheap) Slaters Wheels £40 for decals Paint Loksound V4 L decoder This amounts to another mistake of mine, buying all of this assuming I was going to get the model initially. Obviously this was my mistake and I only mention it so that others can avoid making the same mistake. Advice to others would be, don't buy the additionals until you've got the model, and are happy with it. I have since found the money to purchase a DJH model, so the additional materials will be used for that. DJH wasn't my first choice because I don't like the one piece, extremely heavy, pewter, body. So I have gone from £455 for the JLTRT 47, to £600 for the DJH 47, and now to £700 if I want the MM1 models 47. It does seem, in 7mm scale modelling, that £100 here or there is acceptable ; I can't help agreeing with what has been said before, in many posts, that modellers are probably being priced out of the hobby/scale. What went wrong with JLTRT in pricing their 47 at £455, and, as far as I know, the same thing through MM1 models, is now £245 more, at £700 ? It does seem as though there were either some dire mistakes made with the original pricing by JLTRT, or the MM1 offering is extremely over priced. Regards to everyone Keith
  13. Hi. Thanks for the feedback. Paypal didn't want to know : I wanted the model so much, I was quite happy to wait until the variant I wanted was in production, thus I was well outside their six month cut-off. The JLTRT Class 47had been in production for about 1 year when they ceased trading. I am in the process of following up the credit card lead , although they are resisting at the moment. Many thanks to all. If my experience stops one person from falling into the same trap, it will have been worthwhile doing this post.
  14. Hi Joseph. The loco was never delivered ; there is no reference date. That is/was the problem. Keith
  15. What a magical system though : Transforming the value of £455 into 0.455p !! I wish I could reduce a few of my bills to 1/1000th of their true value ; Imagine a whole years domestic energy bill of £1 !!!! I digress. LOL.
  16. Hi. Problem was ; I paid by credit card but because I had already been waiting for the model for nearly 1 year, the credit card company said I was outside of the time limit. I appreciate the advice, but I am confident that I have followed all of the options available to get my money back. This post is purely so that others can learn from my mis-fortune. Thanks Keith
  17. I've no intention of starting a topic which becomes a slanging match, so please resist the temptation to convert this blog into one. I believe it would be appropriate to let others know how they'll be treated, under British Law, when a supplier they are dealing with ceases trading. Some people will already know what happens, so this short blog is for those who don't know. The following information is factual : June 2017 ; I placed a pre-paid order for a JLTRT Class 47 model paying the sum of £455.00. I was advised that the 47/8 version would not be available until early 2018. It was early 2018 when I became aware, through posts on this forum, that there was a problem concerning JLTRT. At no time, did anybody have the decency to contact me, as a customer, to advise me the status of JLTRT. I eventually found out the identity of The Receivers. I have just received a letter from The Receivers, mostly asking me to approve their expenses of circa £8000, whilst a small section was devoted to remuneration of creditors. Secured creditors are to re-imbursed at a rate of 100p in the pound. (Opinion : these are people who shouldn't be upset if continuing in the hobby) Unsecured creditors are to be re-imbursed at a rate of 0.001p in the pound (Opinion : that is the rest of us) This means that, through no fault of mine, JLTRT have reduced my £455.00 to 0.455p . The thing that is really bugging me is that there is nothing under Brtitish Law, that I can do about it. I started proceedings through the Money Reclaim Service, against Waterman directly, but I withdrew as I was advised, by people I trust, that I was unlikely to win the case, and I could face substantial expenses. Unfortunately in this Country, directors of defunct companys' cannot be held responsible for the company's debts. Many people will be aware that there are a list of models, advertised as " Ex- JLTRT" or "From the JLTRT range" , being advertised by MM1 Models. These appear to be the same as the JLTRT models, but are now listed with an RRP of circa £699 !!! All of this has left me with a very bitter taste, and has taught me a very valuable lesson : don't pre-pay for anything that is in a pre-production stage. Regards Keith
  18. Hi. I am new to the world of O gauge modelling. I have recently purchased a Class 15xx model from Warren Shephard. Should I opt for the Slaters 30:1 or 40:1 gearbox ? It is a shunter, so wouldn't prototypically run at mainline speeds. As the motor/gearbox units are >£100 I dont' want to get the wrong one. Thanks Keith
  19. HI Jim. Thanks again for your advice. I'll try to be patient. Keith
  20. Hi Jim. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have registered with the liquidators, I am an unsecured creditor, and have been advised that I am unlikely to receive a substantial refund. I have contacted PW as a requirement of the "Money Reclaim" procedure ; Small Claims Court as it used to be called. Two or three weeks and I haven't heard from PW, and I can prove my letters were received. As per my original post, I just think that it is a shame that, for whatever reason, these people, ( i.e. Laurie , PW etc.) don't contribute to the posts made on social media, if for no other reason, than to try to stop the "tit for tat" discussions which inevitably get out of control, with one contributor trying to out-do the others. By giving a contribution they could also try to save their reputation, if that should be called into question, but, it would seem, they don't care. Regards Keith
  21. Hi. Instead of all the conjecture about what might or might not be happening, wouldn't it be helpful if the person(s) actually involved in a discussion topic, were to make a statement of the facts ? This would stop matters getting out of control, like they did with the JLTRT thread, which eventually was locked down because statements were being made which could get people into legal problems. I'm not "anti" discussion, exactly the opposite, and it is interesting to see what people think about different topics ; that's why I am a member of RmWeb. It just seems that things get analised "to death", based on no facts or few facts. I have a vested interest in what happens, post JLTRT, and where people are and what they are doing, as JLTRT owe me £455. Regards Keith
  22. Very interesting considering that JLTRT owe me £455.00 for a kit that was never supplied. I would have liked to think that if any there were any warnings about JLTRT closing, they would have/could have refunded my money before the end came. I was in fairly regular contact with Laurie Lynch about progress with the Class 47 kits, and in particular, the 47/8 which I wanted. At no time, did Laurie suggest, or hint, that the company was going to fold. Laurie did keep saying that there was a problem with the 47/8 variant, which was a cut out in the cab ends, or a cut out in the buffer beams........... I remember thinking that a cut-out shouldn't present a problem to an experienced model maker/supplier. IN RETROSPECT, maybe I should have "smelled a rat". Regards
  23. Thanks for your support Craig. I genuinely started this thread because I stand to lose a lot of money, and I have no experience as to what the processes are in liquidating a Company. I have asked for input because I would hate to think that I lost the money because I missed the opportunity for refund because I either didn't know something, or I wasn't told something I should have been told. Anyway, I think I may have hijacked this thread, something I hate when others do it, so I will not make any more entries to it, and I apologise to anybody who feels I have hijacked it. Any more advice would be welcome, but by PM please. Many thanks to all.
  24. Thanks Bob. I agree with your sentiments ; I have no intention of dealing in anything other than cold, hard, facts. I did send a letter to Grainger, by Special Delivery, last Friday. It contained copies of the relevant paperwork and it was delivered and signed for 10:37am Monday. I set out my position, and what I expect as an outcome. Just have to wait now, although the lack of response is frustrating. Regards Keith
