  1. The building looks awesome, I can't wait to see it once it's painted! Cheers, Jack
  2. Yes, due to popular demand (you're not the only person to ask!) I have put it in my Shapeways shop, you can find it here: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/valvedesign Kindest Regards, Jack
  3. I have decals for 8 for though I think perhaps 3 or 4 is a more realistic number. The next 2 or 3 I will build in parallel. Next project will probably be my rake of 4 PRAs I have sat on the workbench so the rest of the Tigers will probablly follow those. I also have a Polybulk to do; The list keeps on going as I have a couple of Tullis Russell wagons as well.....Watch this space! Cheers, Jack
  4. I forgot to mention, I applied a light brown wash as well! Cheers, Jack
  5. Time for an update on the Tiger! I picked up some OLEO buffers at Leamington Show and filed the tops and bottoms flat to produce Tiger-like buffers. I sprayed the Tiger white and painted the cover grey (After a debate as to whether it was grey, white or grey but covered in white ). This wasn't without it's issues as the masking for the grey pulled away some of the white which then had to be touched up. Next I applied the decals I had printed, I missed out a couple as I was paying per colour and found it was better(cheaper) to use fewer colours. Weathering will be tactically applied where these decals should be. Anyway, hopefully it looks more like a Tiger than it did! Regards, Jack
  6. Although 011 is just an external improvement the selected locomotives will be properly refurbished not just painted, 3 million pounds spent with the aim of a 15 year life extension will consist of more than just a paint job. Don't forget most 37s are over double the age of the 60s, I'm sure 60s can carry on another 15 years. Regards, Jack
  7. I guess rather than selecting the best 21 tugs they'll probably choose the best body and frame and then find the best bogies and internals from any number of 60s. Once they have refurbed them I guess the others will be striped of parts and cut. Regards, Jack
  8. Well done eldavo, it was the layout I rated highest and clearly I wasn't in the minority! 20" x 11" sounds a good idea to me, I'm in favour! Regards, Jack
  9. I can't wait to see them applied! One of the advantages of digital is you can take pictures of anything if only because "it may come in handy one day". No doubt you wouldn't have used the film taking that picture of the Neon Lines had you been using ye olde 35mm camera! Cheers, Jack
  10. Dapol models always seem a little bit cruder than the China made Farish stuff, maybe if the guys at Dapol had a communist fist of oppression looming above them the models would be up to Farish China standard! That said they are very good models mostly, such as the Cargowaggon! Regards, Jack
  11. The underframe certainly looks better! You must be an expert on West Country tourism after drawing up those decals :-P
  12. I will probably make it available through my shop at Shapeways, but only once I have updated the model to include the discharge bits at the bottom; For this test model I am using the discharge chutes from a grain Polybulk kit I have spare. Kindest Regards, Jack
  13. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into getting some. I'll also look at getting a tap so I can make them NEM compatible using the brass block method; I'd rather keep the NEM pocket intact incase I need to run my rolling stock with other people's. Regards, Jack
  14. Thank you, It is something I have considered; Most of my stock is new Farish and Dapol so it has NEM pockets, something that would plug strait into the NEM pocket would helpful. Do you have any recommendations? Cheers, Jack
  15. I thought I would post an update on work I've done in the New Year. I have been bending and soldering wire to make up the various details on the "Clay Tiger". The brake pipes and walk ways are an approximation and not exact as I tend to pertain to the Jack Ray philosophy of a recognisable model of the prototype running within a credible context, or something to that effect.... I have attached various bits of brass work; Wire and a mixture of scavenged TPM parts. Buffers are still on the list to obtain and apply. I have undercoated with a cream colour as the material colour is white and it makes it easier to see where I have sanded, drilled etc Next the model will be "pre-shaded" with a mid-brown and then spray painted white, decals will be applied and then the model will be weathered. Sample of the decal artwork I drew up and had produced for Tiger. To fulfill a request in my previous entry, here are some more pictures of my 08. Kindest Regards, Jack
  16. The bullets look top, it'll make the rake more effective with inconsistencies in colour and spill patterns. What is the reason for "HOWE" and "magnet", obviously because it's on the prototype but what does it actually mean? Regards, Jack
  17. Thanks all for the kind comments, Jo - I know the picture you're on about, the angle of the picture is quite accute so they could be STS TTAs or possible another kind like the Tiger TTAs(another on the to do list!), http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/p64972672.html Discharge doors will be ones stolen from an NGS grain polybulk. On future versions I may include them in the print. In total I'd like 4. Regards, Jack
  18. Cheers for the compliments, I will take some shots of the 08 under better lighting conditions and include them in the next post. The Material I use is White Detail from Shapeways, it is not rough but it does have print lines visable. The White Detail material is soft so it takes just a minute with some fine sand paper to give a completely smooth finish like the STS TTA. Cheers, Jack
  19. This post outlines some of the stock I am building, buying and weathering for my layout in progress "Penwithick". Penwithick is a modern china clay facility in Cornwall, the layout will be set in the late 80s/early 90s and built in N Scale. Class 08 and STS TTA Slurry Tank The 08 is Farish and the Slurry tank is built from a 3D Print I made along with TPM roofwalks and a Farish TTA chassis. This is the Clay Tiger fresh out the printer, it will sit on TPM Y25s. I have had decals printed from artwork I created. Hopefully it will come together quickly! This is a Dapol Cargowaggon; I have weathered it as per several pictures I have seen. Dapol "Silver Bullet"; Lightly weathered as I got fed up with wearing shades each time I got it out the box Also in various states of construction are PRAs, Tullis Russell Hoppers and an ECC TCA. I aim to produce at least one of each type of wagon used on clay trains. I hope this is of some interest, Regards, Jack
