    There is a sticker for real Landrovers I'd like to get for the back of my 110, for those who think the my landrover is too slow at the speed limit.

    The sticker says..

    Remember  YOUR CAR is my Crumple zone..

    People seem to treat them like they will be really slow. Those people need to be reminded of what may be under a bonnet. Not everything was the old series engine. The V8s, TDI200/300 and TD5s are all pretty good.

    It is just that you are happy at the speed you are doing.

    OK I hold my hands up and admit I am wrong.

    I was using the 1975 ABC.....I turned the page over and there is a list of Class 45s "still to be classified as 45/0 or 45/1".

    Can I add these other possibilities

    D49 The Manchester Regiment,  45 039

    D54 The Royal Pioneer Corps, 45 023

    There were two other named locos but their names were on a double row and the name plate looks too naorrow for a double row name.

    D50 Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, 45 040

    D58 The Kings Own Royal Boarder Regiment, 45 043

    Manchester Regiment got converted to flush front when I saw it, out with file and knife and yellow paint!

    None of my Peaks are now double box, either single box or flush nosed.

    Thanks Clive,

    Now, a further question, and one from your era.

    1492522433_PeakatDurham.jpg.89d15a541b86b2ca4050c45c3e6726d4.jpg

    Do you or anyone else know exactly where this is, please?

    All that's on the print is 'Durham 1978'. It could well be the only named Class 46, but where is it in the Durham area? Relly Mill, or further away? It looks like some tracks have been removed.

    As for the working, are these HAA hoppers?

    Many thanks in anticipation.

    46,026 has/had deeper name plates and a single large headcode box. That is a 45,0 as there is no ETH cable.

    My local model shop is just like MJI's Crap.  Wanted 4 peco buffers and a set of points none in stock told me will be in next week i will phone you.  Next week came and went  gave him a call not in stock on order . After four weeks i got a call now in stock.  By then i had got them on line in 3 days.  Never   been in my local model shop since then and it's only 2 miles down the road.

    The clincher was they have removed some products and their shelving.

    Will probably annual visit if at all as only really any good for Dapol.

    I am with you in that respect, love it but the sodding thing won't stop leaking oil...

    Mine leaks hydraulic oil but the level is not going down, had a new steering box and all new pipes on the suspension.

    Last engine oil leak was a loose turbo feed, prior to that a bung at the end of the cam.

    Time for another moan!

    Has 'plethora' become the most misused word in our language today?

    I've just been subbing/proofing four articles and it's appeared in each one. The writer (I assume) in one case wishes to state an 'abundance' of material/things, as in the availability of drawings, documents, photographs, etc, etc, on the Internet today, all invaluable to model makers. Yet, he uses 'plethora' instead. Another refers to the signage/information on a model's flanks as a 'plethora' of such stuff, when, in fact, all the signs are on the prototype.

    Do these writers not know that by using 'plethora' they are, in fact, conveying exactly the opposite of what they wish to express? Obviously not.

    My dictionary defines the word (in part) as a 'morbid condition', and 'unhealthy repletion'. Hardly complimentary!

    Rant over - back to making more point rodding..............

    Sorry Tony.

    How about the misuse of decimate by many people?

  7. This is one of two threads I am starting here.

    This one i sregarding late BTs one definately a driving one, the other unsure.

    They are

    DIag 1964A  Lot 1086 1938

    Diag 2122 Lot 1577 1950

    I THINK I can do the 1964A with Comet or Worsley but not sure.

    Does anyone know for sure which were converted and also who does them.

    I do have the LMS coach book.

    Other thread will be up later and discussing corridor stock.

  8. Well this was difficult to find. No piccies yet but so far I have 3 GWR150 coaches under way

    BSK and 1 TSO in primer.

    1 TSO being tidied up in the joins.

    Excess parts BG is coming along well (in my MR mark 2 set with a  Triang Hornby RMB)

    Also a BFK is coming along.

    Just received from Replica 3 underframe kits for the older style cylinders for the GWR 150 set, 2 TSO interiors and 5 glazing packs.

    Will be letter writing to Shawplan for the Laserglaze, tried phoning 20 times last week.

    I could never understand why they didn't make the tiger a two door. It also had the long rectangular speedo with the rev counter in a separate pod rather than the six dial round dash

    The last version was a 3 door hatch with slightly shorter wheelbase.

    Once again,

    In my attempt to write a post, a previous one comes up.

    Never mind.

    In the end, I didn't ask the McLaren designer or the engine designer about the colours of tractors.

    We were too busy admiring this!

    Thanks Marcus and Graham for a splendid afternoon.

    Very nice, and what a rubbish editor in the forum now

  11. I spent a fortune on his products. They were a pleasure to build and I had chatted at Warley a couple of times, as well as writing to them asking for BR Tube wagons and 21 ton hoppers.

    Of course I have some of them!

    Too many dieing too young.

    RIP

  12. I am looking at 2 potential places and so will require stock. There is SOME cross over as the two places are rail connected. Upton line and Evesham loop

    Late 50s to early 60s.

    4mm scale not sure if to go EM or OO.

    My main under construction layout is representative of the line between them and is blue era BR, so no cross over in period. just general location. My Peaks, 47s and 50s will be nowhere near which ever one I choose.

    Coaches

    Need 2 BTs one is identified and sure what it is the other 95% identified.

    DIag 2122 BT driving

    Diag 1964A BT (no view of far end from loco so do not know if driving or if any of this type converted, but coupled to a 0-4-4T with auto style working)

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Corridor stock, looking at PIII by the look of it, seen pre port hole TO, BTK and porthole BTK, also CKs not sure of type.
    None corridor, no obvious ID on them.
    Locos
    0-4-4T 1833 Class
    0-4-4T Stanier 2P
    0-6-0 3F Tender MR design I THINK
    57xx is easy
    ~~~~~~~~~~

    4-4-0 2P

    4-4-0 4P

    2-6-4T Fowler 4MT

    2-6-0 Ivatt 4MT

    What is interesting is a lack of Mark 1s and Diesels, although I can work out all the ex GWR stuff OK. Surprised 20s hadn't made one place.

    All locos are filthy and coaches clean!

    So what are good models to use of these, looks like kits for the small ones and may be chassis kits under old RTR for the 4-4-0s

    Looking at 3 locos 2 coaches 10 wagons for idea 1 and 4 locos 8 - 10 coaches, 20+ wagons for idea 2

    How hard is valve gear to assemble? I have built 3 x 0-6-0D chassis before.
