  5. Bucking Snow on Cumbres Pass ~ 75 years ago! Here we see Denver & Rio Grande Western No. 483 No. 487 K- 36 (Baldwin 1925) along with spreader snow plow "OU" sandwiched in between the two locomotives. They have all stopped at the D&RGW Depot at Cumbres Pass Colorado on January 21 1949 Photograph by Robert "Uncle Bob" William Richardson Denver Public Library Digital Collection.
  6. Similar problem. I work earlies, getting up between half 2 at the very earliest, to maybe half 4 at the latest. It means I have to retire between 19:30 and 21:00. In the summer, that means it's still daylight. Roll on retirement.
  7. I bought a Celestron NexStar 8SE. But so far it has seen little use. Purchased with a view too really getting back into it in retirement. That has been put on hold, mainly due the present economic situation and the inept handling of it by this government. But maybe this summer and I will have had enough. I have the base of an old greenhouse in the garden and I plan to fill this with concrete and get some power up there and to use this as my telescope platform. Saw some stunning skies when I visited Australia back at the tail of 2022. Had planned a visit to https://outbackastronomy.com.au/ near Broken Hill, but on the days I was there, the skies were, unfortunately, cloudy. Otherwise, some lovely clear skies. This is a moblie phone shot taken from Coledale, on the NSW coast south of Sydney.
  8. That was old when I left school in 1972.
  9. Boeing now using in flight engineers to fix faults.
  10. Looking at the video, it doesn't look as it would be too difficult to regauge to HOn3. The main issue is how big the thing is.
  11. Although, after stripping the Mogul down, I think it will be best to just remove the decoder from the 2-8-0. It also has a loose piece of glazing and the driver figure is rattling around in the cab, but that is proving impossible to remove. Must be stuck in with some Chinese super-duper glue.

  14. In one of those "oops I did it again" moments, I have now got hold of a DCC fitted, Spectrum 2-8-0. As always, a sucker for a good price, it was £125 from Anglo-American. looks unused, no sigh on the wheels of ever being run. Suppose I'll have to get the Mogul fitted now.
  15. Sad new about Hatton's. I have managed to get a surprising amount of HOn3 from them. Only last week I bought 6 Micro-Trains cars for a tenner each. Quite a few Blackstone cars picked up from the pre-owned section, as well as buildings, all much cheaper than is being asked on ebay. The vast majority of my HO cars and vehicles have been supplied by them.

Oreo seems to be missing Kitt much more than I expected. While they never really got on, only tolerated each other, maybe she is a bit lost without her sparring partner. Maybe I'll be looking sooner rather than later for another. I'll give it a few weeks and then see what it st the local cats home.
  17. " I wonder if anyone will ever make a model of this? And if they do, will they get the wheels right?"
  18. It also covers Roco Minitrains and a bit about Jouef. Main reason for it was, for many, it was the beginnings of narrow gauge modelling in HO scale. It also cover a bit about the latest developments in OO9.

  20. Rio Grande Southern No. 461 and D&RGW No. 452 K-27 2-8-2 Mikados (Baldwin 1903) at the RGS Depot at Ophir, Colorado on November 18, 1951. Photographed by Robert W. Richardson. Denver Public Library Digital Collection.
  21. An amusing post from Whitworth FC.
