At last the Dukdog is now completed. There has been far too many delays to get to the WB of late. The computer has been playing up and spent four days trying to get it running right.

It's been a very busy time of late but in dribs and drabs I have got the next loco under way. This is a Javelin kit of the GWR Dukedog. One of my favourite locos.
As usual with Javelin kits it's going together very well, the most difficult part being the tender side flares. These require annealing to make it easier.
Looking a bit scruffy right now as it need a good cleanup.

Another slow build. Lots of time wasted away from the WB sorting out the new kitchen. Hopefully after our installer has been on Wednesday next to check what we have chosen and to check out all the ceiling lights we would like, it will just be a waiting game for the delivery and my team of installers putting it all together. ( I got cold feet with having Wren themselves supplying installers) We have our own trusted team.
Anyway I digress. The Y5 is now ready to dismantle, clean and prime. It took me back to the days I was building 7mm narrow gauge, very small and fiddly. It's going to a challenge for the painter as the roof will really restrict him.
The slide bars have been left loose to enable be to remove to leading wheels, they will be more horizontal that when I have painted the chassis in the usual black.

Now to carry on with the Agenoria Y5 0-4-0T which I had made a start on before shooting off to Kent. I now have to sort out the unconventional brake gear trying to make sense of the unclear kit photo.

Just returned from a great trip to Kent. Visiting Chatham Docks climbing all over a war ship, sqeezing through a submarine swinging thorough small hatches. Another day on the Hythe, Dymchurch railway. Another day hitting lucky by meeting up with the owner of the Col. Stephens railway museum at Tenderton station. Being the only visitor as it was not a running day he took us my wife and I on a personal tour of the museum. All the others on the coach went off to the shops (not our thing). There was other places we visited with noting to do with transport.

That's the Agenoria saddle tank done. (Except for the sandbox fillers I managed to forget. Will be rectified tomorrow I hasten to add)

Things are moving slowly at present. We have decided to have a new kitchen installed. Started today with the surveyor taking all the measurements and followed tomorrow with a visit to Wren Kitchens for a three hour meeting with the designers and a virtual viewing of the various designs.
In the meantime, I grabbing the odd hour or two building this Agenoria saddle tank kit.

Can I ask where buy your Delrin chain and sprockets from, please, as I have a length somewhere in the 'tip' that is my workshop but can't find it or remember where I got it from (Branchlines, maybe ?) and would like to improve the traction on my Greenwood & Batley loco and maybe buy another small diesel Alphagraphix kit which could use this type of additional drive system.
That's a great aerial shot, by the way, showing the clearances needed to make this chassis run smoothly.

Hi Ian. It's a kit Geoff of Javelin asked me to build and he provided the motor and Delrin drive. I don't know where he obtained it. Suggest you send him a message and ask him. (If you don't succeed let me know and I will ask him.

Hi again. This time is another Mercian 'Teutonic' 2-4-0 loco. A bit of a fiddle getting an 1833 motor and coupled to a Delrin chain drive. Got there in the end despite very little clearances.

The austerity all done now. I found it a difficult kit to build, not at all what I was expecting when I started it.

It's been a long haul to get this far. It's ready for primer after a good clean tomorrow. Weather permitting of course.

The big problem with the chassis was the lost wax castings which are very thick leaving now clearances at all. So took three days of a lot of assembling then pulling apart, get one bit cured and anther bit jams. Worse one I've ever come across. That's not including some of the body body build. Absolutely no way of attaching the body to the chassis. So spent time solving that problem.
Anyway back to the chassis. One is unable to remove the valve gear/cylinder assembly for painting. So gone as far as I can until the chassis is painted then finish that assembly.

Really enjoying the build though. One of my favourite big locomotives.
Having a bit of a problem getting the valve gear to run smoothly at the moment. (Nothing done on it today though). hopefully some progress tomorrow.

The resin boiler casting are now firmly attached to the running plate and detailing well under way. The cab is now complete too. The next stage is to fit the lost wax castings to the chassis. That will be time consuming as the all need some work with drills and files.

The chassis and body is now under way. Even with Geoffs photos is still a struggle. The basic instructions are relating to the kit before the updating was done with all the resin castings. This means things do not work out in the build as I have to make many adjustments to get thins to fit and sit right. I'm using the original etches to set how much I have to cup of the current etches to work with the resin castings. Anyway onward and forwards.

Thankfully Geoff forwarded some good photos of a previously built Austerity. (Without them I had serious doubts I would have been able to complete the build)
Here is the tender up to the priming stage. The front buffers and drawer bar need to be looked at when the loco is is built.

Now tackling an early JLTRT kit of the WD Austerity 2-8-0. This seems to be before the upgrading was done. There is no written instructions and no etched parts are numbered for identification. There's a shed load of castings all with no ID where they are to fitted.
So looks like a long haul with this one.
Got the tendered chassis sorted out. The steps are going to be the next head scratching session.

These three Parliamentary Trains kits have kept me rather busy of late. The materials not what I'm use to at all. Almost all of them were glued together with wait time whilst the glue set.
Anyway I'll be priming them in the next few days.

hi again. Been a bit busy lately making this a slow process. Anyway, the body is now completed and needs a good clean up as I've been asked not to prim this build. My attention will now turn back to the chassis, add the remaining castings and prime and paint it black. Then complete the valve gear and add pickups etc.
So far, so good.

The LMS Jubilee is almost ready for painting. As usual with Gladiator no real problems, just the usual clearance problems to watch out for.
The body will be started next week.

Now for yet another LMS Jubilee build. This one is to be delivered unprimed. (The chassis will be painted black as usual.) The usual Gladiator kit, very nice to build. The difference for me is to have as little as possible solder on show this time.

Finally caught up with all the painting. Here is the C Class all ready for the off. A nice model to build.
