Isn't that just an extension of the general trend to blame someone else for everything, rather than anyone actually taking responsibility for their own actions...

The BBC article points out that the crash site wasn't visible from the road, and all the police would have known is that they didn't come home on the Saturday, how would they know to be looking for a crashed car, let alone which area to start looking?

Of course I feel for those who have lost family members in the crash, but I'm not sure the police can be blamed.

More to the point, 'I' am pretty certain that the Police CANNOT be blamed.

We 'borrowed' six of these at Oxford in June 1982 whilst our brand new B51 ECW Leopards were returned to Lowestoft for body strengthening. The gear linkages were all knackered as I found out whilst on a local service one evening................much to the amusement of my passengers listening to my expletives over the gearbox noise! Other than that thy were quite tidy and managed to race up and down to London when required.

Saw a lorry yesterday with an illuminated LED sign the usual red circle and bar with a cyclist in it.. it was mounted on the rear left hand corner of the lorry..

Pity the lorry was parked on the right hand side of the road facing into the traffic..

Still the correct place for the sign with most of the Lycra pilots I see 🤣

Presumably parked half on the pavement then too?

Looks more like damp corrosion than mazak rot.

sand it out and maybe ok.

Mazak rot is a bit like blue cheese.. brittle with loads of micro cracks running all through it, often causes ruptures, or uneveness to the original shape of the metal through expansion caused by the gaps created by cracking.

Just seen this post and suggest this looks like remnants of 'Liquid Lead' of which the majority has been removed from the chassis block.

Hi, I had the same problem with the 9F. I bought an earlier silver seal chassis, which does not seem to suffer from Mazak Rot. I stripped down the chassis and swapped all the parts over. It is basically the same chassis. I now have a working 9F. Bought a second chassis as I have another 9F boxed p some where in my collection just incase that has gone the same way.

Hi, I was surprised to see such an early Triang model with this When I bought one for spares. Fortunately, it was only the valve gear I was after. I have another 6 spare R59 chassis in my chassis box waiting. But I thought that they were made of better quality materials back then. The one I bought was only held together by the conrods. When I took them off, it split into 3 pieces.

Following the recent article in Model Rail (305 - Oct 2022) re preparing a Hornby T9 chassis I was discussing the issue with Paul at Alton Models. He was able to supply me with the genuine Hornby X9945 for a mere £9.99. If anyone else requires this spare part I suggest you give him a ring while he still has some in stock.

    all the best

Will the Hornby original spare last any better than the original, particularly if it is old stock? I found the Peters Spares own replacement more than adequate for the job, and the few extra grams were a useful bonus.

Hi, I checked with Paul and he tells me that his stock is new and not therefore affected like the original ones that were fitted to some of the T9s when manufactured. I gather the X9945 consist of the following:-

  7. Sadly it seems to be increasingly acceptable that (some) people are given creednace as a result of being upset/offended on behalf of others.

Equally sadly it would also appear that those same people are not at the front of the queue when it comes to supporting  others. It's a bit like the 'rights and responsibilities' discussion - everyone 'knows their rights' but few seem to acknowledge the responsibilities which go hand in hand with those rights - ho hum!

That may well be the case.  I'm certain that my image was changed. How do I know? The one I uploaded and the one hosted on the site are different sizes! My original is 1.66MB and the hosted one is 1.22MB. Oddly, the colour depth has increased from 24bpp to 32bpp, so my guess is that the modifier has also added an alpha channel.

Other data, such as EXIF data, may also be being stripped or modified. I can't say for sure (yet) as the image I uploaded didn't have any to begin with, so, unsurprisingly, neither does the downloaded one.

The fact remains - RMWeb are changing the images we upload. Perhaps @AY Modor @Phil Parkercan point to a post that explains what is being done to them. I'm sure it's benign - reducing the size, changing the format, increasing the compression for JPEGs and so on, but a definitive list would be interesting to see.

    I agree.

If there are rules around the 'similarity' of images and it is suspected that processes are being applied to images after they have been uploaded, how can the person uploading the image be held responsible for something they have no knowledge of?

Not exactly an old bus (New to NXWM July 2007) but an old livery.

NXWM 4722 in Birmingham City Transport colours as part of National Express's heritage liveries fleet:

See here in Solihull today, somewhere BCT never ran to, (Apart from Coventry Road trolleybuses to the Rover Works!)

It currently operates out of Yardley Wood Garage

    2084048239_4722bus.jpg.0655317508653e8f8e3f72064f52aeb1.jpg

There are examples of all pre WMPTE local authority bus operators liveries in the fleet.

NXWM actually own two ex BCT buses.

3225 a fully restored Daimler CVG6 with a Crossley body at Yardley Wood and 3035 a Guy Arab IV with a Met/Cam body this is under restoration (slowly!) at Walsall garage.

There are also a few other ex Local Authority buses in various states of restoration.

Which just goes to show how cr@p modern liveries are!

This looks much better - even on a modern bus.....

Is this the Railtrack advert that had to show no trains just incase any purchasers of shares though the would get any with their purchase!

That reminds me of the nonsense of the all line timetable that could not show a train on the cover to avoid being seen as favouring a TOC so showed empty tracks instead.

15 hours ago, Michael Hodgson said:

The easy solution to that is to show something else that would be instantly recognised, such as the Forth Bridge.

The better solution would have been a single operator railway - no favoured train operators then.

Interesting, thank you... Is any modification required to create a dual-motored loco?

Does the body of my era 9F fit onto the chassis of the newer 9Fs or not? The body is in excellent condition.
Don't have a photo at the moment, it's currently in bits with a repairer after I bought what I thought was a the right replacement chassis... it wasn't!

You are very much mistaken if you think you can't lose control of a car or get it to lock up just because it has electronic aids.
