I have been somewhat spoiled in my absence. I do wish I had the skill to put together some of the kits on the market like the Wild Boar Kits, but I just don't have the talent to do them justice. So I have to stick to basic kits and RTR stuff.
The layout has had a complete rebuild as the garage was leaking/cold/manky so I have a clean slate to start over once more. With the enticing prospects of the Hatton Warflats, and the Bachmann internal wagons it has given me the motivation to revisit this project once more.
Now that BW models has gone, and the older suitable JB/airfix kits (Bedford, Scorpion/Scimitar) are like hens teeth. Where is a good source for suitable loads from 70's to 90's? Apart from Land Rovers.
I know but I they will be better than nothing. I had some really bad experiences trying to put together the Genesis kits, which has meant i'm reluctant to try the Shapeways WBF kits. An RTR looks like the best possibility at the moment until I can boost my modelling confidence.
I'm holding off adding chains until I get some proper warwells/warflats sorted, plus I keep swapping loads at the moment. The wagons I use currently are stand-ins until I have a go at the WBF kits or Bachmann release their oft promised waflat in 2150. The Lowmacs will work if I am doing up to the 70's but ideally i'm aiming for later.
