  1. How easy is the model to disassemble for painting etc? I haven't much experience in taking loco's apart and I don't want to break it. I want to respray main body to resemble something a bit like this. Or this
  2. Progress on the yard itself. The "top" end will be ballested normally and the siding likely slightly overgrown. Perimeter will be ringed by barbed wire fencing. Found some knightwing fencing that looks quite close to the type often seen around barracks and airfields etc.
  3. I want to include a BTP station on my layout. However finding suitable modern donor vehicles in 1:76 is tricky. My nick has Vito's, Mondeo's, Kuga's, Pathfinders, and Navarros. Quite a selection to choose from you'd think yet very hard to find in 20mm. May have to give up and use a transit as a donor.
  4. Any more news on these kits in the pipeline? I do hope they bring out a modern(ish) version too.
  5. Been working on a project for the corner of a layout my Dad is building. After seeing an article in Model Rail a few years back and some more information occassionally turning up in more recent issues I decided to have a go at turning a disused corner of the layout into a bustling MOD yard. First part of the project is the vehicles I had in mind. I don't have a definitive fixed time period but aiming for late 80's to late 90's which gives me some scope. I apologise in advance for the quality of construction and painting. What I lack in skill I make up for in enthusiasm! Some WIP of the yard Still lots to do. i need some proper Warwells and Warflats. Lowmacs are a temporary stand-in. Had real troube with the Genesis kit and I am not sure I have the skill to put together/paint a WBF kit. I have a Thomas Hill Steeleman currently being worked on, and i'm very tempted to repaint one of Hornbys new Sentinels.
  6. Did all the Sentinels in MOD ownership recieved green colour schemes? What year were they withdrawn. Reading this thread has made me really want one I think a repainted Sentinel would look great working alongside my Steelman Royale on the corner of my layout that is based on a late 80's/early 90's MOD yard. I haven't repainted a loco before but £55 isn't breaking the bank so i'm willing to try!
  7. Are there any 3rd parties out there that can assemble/paint WBF products? For those who are time/skill poor?
  8. My Saxons are BW Models. I was happy with them, although they were a bit fiddly and I have all the modelling finesse of a nuclear strike.
  9. So far I have a pair of saxons, pair of fv 432's, and a pair of saracens. Now that Cromwell Models has gone under need to find another source for tracked vehicles.
  10. Well it looks like Bachmann have heard my prayers and are producing a ready to run Warflat. This is great as i'm not very adept at kits. I hope they follow suit with a Warwell.
  11. Tried my hand at building a BW Models Saxon for the layout. I don't think it went very well. Might have to find someone to commission to build the other similar models as they are a) probably out of my skill level B) expensive enough to make messing one up be a pain!
  12. No, very few around. Ah well i'll paint my green, prefer the look anyway.
  13. Fantastic, i'll get a couple more silver ones and paint them up. Still need to paint the small wagons I have already in green/yellow. What year did the MOD paint its shunters in the new colour?
  14. Are the VGA etc trains on modern workings older speedlink style livery or EWS? Trying to decide what colour to paint my Thomas Hill Steeleman shunter, traditional army green or the new lilac. I don't have any good pics of the new livery to work from.
  15. Are there any good resources for more picture examples of MOD workings. As well as what FC posted very helpfully, I found the Wensleydale gallery on photopic which was very useful. But the more I can find the better!
  16. I'm looking forward to the modern era wagons especially. The current kits on the market are too much of a challenge or are discontinued.
  17. Hello there, just joined the board and first post as well This thread is very relevant to my interests. I'm an occassional railway modeller and i'm interested in making a small MOD depot for a corner of a future layout. It's early days yet but i've built a Thomas Hill shunter, some 432's/Saracens/Sabres/Land Rovers etc, and i'm looking into getting some modern warwells/flats as the era i'd like to model is post 2000. After some disasterous attempts with the Genesis kit's i'm patiently awaiting the Wild Boar kits that are on the horizon. My question is to those who are far more in the know what the typical make up of an MOD vehicle transport train would be both long and short? What kit kind of logistical rail movements are made up of too. VGA's? Intermodals? etc. Any help would be much appreciated.
