  1. I do have a "waxy green finish" Britannia from c.1974/5 with Synchrosmoke. It runs quite well - I was hoping for a more modern body (particuarly the loco itself) but alas...........
  2. That's what I'd like to know as well please. Thanks Tony. Those grilles look really fine detail and the nose end itself looks to be the corrrect height. Does anyone produce replacement body grilles for 45/46s too?
  3. Looks as if Buy and Sell has become a "Roumanian Class 56" !!!! Unless of course you know different.............
  4. For any Class 24 afficianados (myself included) there's the famous episode of "Heartbeat" shown tomorrow on ITV3 (freeview 10) - "Off The Rails" at 1305 or 1755hrs - with the stolen wagons (containing wine/tobacco), with some nice 6LDA28 sounds! Apologies to all: it was the GWR tank (6619) hauling the vent vans not the 24!
  5. Gawd help 'em if they were purchased by subscription!!
  6. Have just found a GBL (issue 20) LSWR "T9" magazine, in nice "flat" condition. Free to good home though I would require 74p large letter postage paid. Please pm me if interested. I thank-you!!
  7. Perhaps the NRM are worried that GBL products might sully their otherwise high-class product-lines on sale!!
  8. Any news from anyone of Buy and Sell entering service............presumbably stored unserviceable !!!........
  9. Perhaps, and excuse my ignorance of litigation methods linked to copying processes it is cheaper for GBL to use what we consider an obsolete version of a model rather than say, one of the last five years. I too was looking forward to the Britannia as I have a mid '70s version (with working smoke!) but with a rather waxy finish green body and horrendous tender wheels. Fortunately I already have a buyer for mine come release date. On the subject of customer feedback surely the "experts" who write the magazine blurb input some knowledge to Amercom as to which versions of models to use - or is that too much like common sense - which is sadly lacking these days.Whilst on the sbject of Hornby bodies does anyone know of any reputable dealer (pref. not E-Bay!) that still stock Hornby spares - I believe East Kent Models have ceased trading(?) and there was an excellent supplier in Burnley (whose name escapes me) which I believe has gone the same way. Thanks in anticipation fellas!
  10. Thanks to everyone for their support and comments - I do use the "old cheap" screwdrivers sets - served me loyally for many years. The V2 is the first one I've struggled with. Perhaps we should have a separate thread - GBL Common Niggles (!) - deliveries excluded!!
  11. Has anyone experienced major problems in removing the screws from a GBL Model - have just spent forty minutes removing a "V2" from its base - thirty of which were taken by trying to separate the tender from its base! I ended up using pliers and molegrips to break the base up into pieces after the taking out the first innermost screw - its twin sister was less than obliging and just chewed up the screwdriver head (phillips type) and itself! it finally turned when around 90 pc of the base had gone. Why the screws have tightened so hard beggars belief!! Grrhhh - rant over!!
  12. Hi jeff ! Only just seen your reply today!! Like your '327 - I have great memories of this at the local glassworks back in 1988 with a sand train - took some b/w photos. I can send you some c/paper sheets foc if you wish btw - won't cost that much. regards Malcolm
  13. MY LNER "B12" is now for sale - seems in good order - viewed from the three sides available. The usual cost price plus RM 2nd Class Medium Parcel rate of £5.20 (or if on or after 30 March £4.89 - yes that's right RM reduce prices!!!). Also for sale (unopened) are as follows (issue no. in brackets): BR Standard 4MT Tank (15); GWR "Prairie" tank (18); LMS Princess Margaret Rose (19); Br Standard "Mogul" (26); L. & M. "Rocket" (27); LMS "Royal Scot" (28). Please pm me if interested. Regards Stock report: as at Tues 24 March just the Prairie Tank and Stamdard Mogul remain.
  14. It's suprisingly good - the glazing is flush and the outer handrails are not "moulded on" . No driver's mirrors but that's a minor criticism. How much are these in English money - £8.99(?), or is the first one at a reduced price? What's the brand name for the range btw?
  15. Is this E-Bay seller an Amercom employee in disguise(!) and does he/she have a mask and a gun! WARNING: DO NOT LOOK AT THIS E-BAY AD UNLESS SEATED!!
  16. My GBL "Royal Scot" is now for sale (unopened). Appears in good order viewed from the three sides available. Would require basic cost plus RM 2nd class Medium Parcel rate of £5.20. If from outside UK please pm me first to obtain an accurate postage figure. Thanks and regards.
  17. Many thanks indeed "462" for the information. I like theGWR ones - I originally thought you meant a suburban dmu yesterday - just think how many windows that would have meant!!! I'm just looking in the magazine - Hornby Skills guide Part One "weathering", published about a year ago , in which there is an article "Twin Peaks" by Tim Shackleton. He uses "AK interactive "Engine Oil" (AK-084") - which may be of interest to you. Thanks again. Malcolm
  18. Thanks for your quick reply Sir! I too have filed the window frames with an emery-board(!) to remove some of the "edge" they possess! Wasn't certain about the SE Finecast glazing tbh. That dmu must have tested your patience to put it mildly. Look forward to your clarification on the plasticard measurement. i did post on the Mainline Class 45 thread but has it has only 3 followers including myself(!) I was being a bit optimistic for a reply. Thanks again anyhow.
  19. Great stuff Sir! I am a big "Peak" fan like yourself - can I pick your brains - what thickness plasticard did you use for the insert in the nose end, and(!) secondly - flush glazing - is the South-Eastern glazing kit any good or would you suggest clear pasticard again for this , and if so what thickness for this too? Many thanks Malcolm
  20. My "Rocket" is now for sale - again basic cost plus RM 2nd Class Medium Parcel postage of £5.20. Please pm me if interested. I can ship overseas no problem if you can bear the postage costs! Thanks and regards Malcolm
  21. Presumably that's the sound of the buffers on the mineral wagons.........hmm.....
  22. You're right fellas - we've lost around 11 pages in seven hours - moderators, wth is happening?? have the original pages 1-11 vanished too?
  23. What puzzles me concerning Kingpin's list is how he and Weathering Man appear to be coming from opposing angles on GBL's future releases.Interesting though nevertheless................
  24. As per my post no. 4469 on page 179 my BR "Mogul" is now for sale. Looks good from viewing the three sides available. Please pm me if interested. Regards Malcolm
  25. At the risk of being accused of sounding like a broken record I have a regular order with my local post office (the only one surviving out of four extant in 2001!) and most do not fit in my layout (1960s South Yorks era). "Rocket" and the BR Standard Class "4" will immedately be for sale. I can also order (with the minimum three weeks) in advance of GBL forthcoming items, extra ones if anyone is really stuck. Basic cost plus RM 2nd Class medium Parcel rate of £5.20 (within UK rate) is all I ask. Please pm me if interested. Clearly there is vast difference in attitude to potential GBL customers from some retailers. Regards Malcolm
