  1. This superb video is called "Third Rail Report", nothing to with emus(!), the main star being D8056 sparkling new (with sound much dubbed down!), it ventures onto the GCR Meadowhall-Birdwell stretch at one point, and picks up other stock at various points.Highly recommended viewing Imo. There's some nice shots of an ex-SR brake van.too.
  2. Rowan, So pleased to see an actual Royston shed inmate being modelled. Was allocated from new to Royston for working the push-pull service from Cudworth to Barnsley Courthouse, and then as you rightly point out left for Hull Dairycoates in June '59. Keep up the good work!. Malcolm
  3. The blocks of flats shown in the opening titles of OFAH and the photo with the Reliant are actually in Bristol - Ashton Gate - just a stone throw's away from Bristol City's ground.
  4. I suspect the latter - can't ever recall seeing a Triang-Hornby or Lima version with this number, can anyone confirm this at all?
  5. Just for clarification the real D1562 exploded and caught fire on 13/3/71 whilst working the 19.43 Norwich-Liverpool Street near Haughley Junction. Stored at Ipswich from 13-24/3/71 and then taken to Crewe Works, and formally withdrawn 20/6/71. Cut up September that year at Crewe. Was new 14/3/64 - source Allocation History of BR Diesels & Electrics (second edition) Roger Harris.
  6. D1562 - which met a fiery grave in either '67 or '68 as I recall - you have been warned lol!
  7. does Hroth live at 41C then...............it now would be very noisy at that site now - with part of the Dearne Valley Link road going through. In fact apart from Wath Central Station building (as a private dwelling) it's hard to to tell that there was ever a railway there, sadly..
  8. Obviously cutting the garden hedge in the fine weather springs to mind! Not one of the bettter locomotive names was it, but provides us with a chuckle whilst we wait (patiently?!!) for the class 47. Presumably Locomotion would now be due c.23 September. Would like to know the truth behind the delay in the Class 47, as opposed to any official statement from Amercom....................
  9. That rather amusing shedcode/Shakesperian offering from Hroth reminded me of a gag I heard many many years ago - "What's the connection between Samantha Fox and Finsbury Park Depot" - they're both 34G!!
  10. Perhaps some of the swarm were employed to produce GBL models - perish the thought!! What's the running number of the 47 btw please?
  11. We might get "swarms" of Class 47s - oh dear are we allowed to use that word now........... !
  12. Well certainly no class 47s - it's now due out on Wed 26th btw, according to my reliable source - the man at the post office!
  13. We seem to be in some sort of time-loop here - this is turning into an episode of Dr Who. We seem to be in sort of time-loop here etc! etc!!
  14. I think the HSE might have some concerns - no handrails, ramps, non-slip surfaces. On a more serious note how the devil does one start a new topic on here - looked on the Topics box and a word in the one sentence has been blacked out completely. Can anyone assist please?
  15. An' they built that smashing wall as well - which was way ahead of schedule I'd guess.....!!
  16. On the subject of masking tape, Wilkinsons do a very good and relatively inexpensive low-tack version, although it only appears to be available in 1" widths, but other than that aspect I can heartily recommend. HTH
  17. It arrived in South Yorkshire "on-time" - must admit I for one, was expecting it to be late after the Lord Nelson debacle!! But credit where credit's due to Amercom - "I'll get mi coat" = to quote Mark Williams!!
  18. I would give Atlas Editions a very wide berth I'm afraid. Had problems cancelling a "subscription" I had allegedly taken out. Plus the fact you get junk-mail for the next 2-3 years!!
  19. Maybe HRH has gone for a meal with Dave Whelan ( a takeaway?!!)
  20. And presumably provide a unique weathering effect when dry - hope it's that pink effect that the hydraulics often sucuumbed to!!
  21. I have found out quite by chance that "Buy & sell" is now operational this weekend. Have tracked back to my last comment on it on page 188 I can see no official announcement of this since on this thread. Given the fact that we have "64" followers - which I suspect is the largest for any topic on here - a short announcement by the powers-that-be that it is now fully functional would have been appreciated. Or am I just old-fashioned in a business sense?
  22. I notice that the "Buy and Sell" title appears briefly before logging -in, it would be nice for the powers-that-be to give us an update on progess made. The other thing was that given that the GBL Magazines are so thin, if the series is to finish no.41, why issue another free binder for just another ten copies (?), or am I being suspicious???
  23. Great weathering job Darrel - you've really transformed it! Wish I could use a an airbrush but as I suffer from asthma - it's a bit of a none-starter. Well done!
