  1. It's not immediately obvious unless you go into the actual payment breakdown (this one shows as a £16.10 refund to me):
  2. Yes they do. If you issue a refund they remove their fees from the refunded portion. I agree the inability to combine postage when selling multiple items is frustrating. I would like postage to be flat rated when people buy multiples of a single item, but that seems not to be an option.
  3. Yes, and you gave your opinion. Now go away, because the OP started the thread, and therefore does see a reason behind it. You're still literally posting to say "I DON'T THINK THIS IS NECESSARY". Hit the ignore button and move on with your life. I feel frustrated on behalf of the OP that people see fit to declare his topic as pointless, when being totally unaffected by it.
  4. Why are you still posting here!? This isn’t a soapbox for you. We have a thread for people who get up early. What’s wrong with one for LBGT+ members? Not for you, move on, you don’t need to loudly announce that it’s not for you, and then repeat it every 5 minutes! I hope it’s a successful topic! I for one like the various ‘pride’ trains we have, inject a bit of colour and variety to lots of stock!
  5. On what conceivable grounds do you think it’s illegal…? I never get people whinging about eBay fees. Try buying from a proper auction house, 30% fees to buyer and seller!
  6. I often look at the various buildings in the vicinity of the station on my way to and from work on Southwark Street with you in mind! As others have said, they're stunning, so another one keen to watch this develop!
  7. I never quite get posts like these. You're building a (presumably) faithful recreation of a real place, and you're sufficiently bothered by things like handbrake levers being incorrect, yet you're not actually prepared to build a kit or modify existing RTR. Will you also be appealing for RTP buildings to suit your location?
  8. Well yes, safeguarding is logical, but that doesn’t say “you mustn’t talk to children”. The only reason I can think that would be relevant advice is if someone at the club has a conviction or other prior instance where safeguarding has been an issue. In that case I’d want them as far away from my club as possible!
  9. Personally I’d much rather someone spoke to my children directly rather than through me. That really does sound bizarre!
  10. Yeah, you do! Exhibitions are a great place for young children. Yeah ok maybe you won’t do the full day, but I’m ok with that, and it doesn’t impact anyone else. We took my daughter to see Heaton Lodge Junction before she was 2, she bloody loved it. We then did Warley as a family last year when they were 5 and 2 and they had a fantastic time, and we were there all day. In general most people seem to enjoy seeing children appreciating their work (as they will often do so vocally), it doesn’t just need to be Thomas the Tank Engine either!
  11. A folding step stool is less than £10. It’s a sensible thing to have around the house if you have small children. You may be overthinking this. If we’ve forgotten one then I pick my son up, this also works for taller layouts. I suspect smaller local shows may be more of a challenge because they’ll attract more casual families, rather than diehard enthusiasts. Where to put hands can be a challenge, there’s a natural inclination (not just among children) when you’re on a step to want to hold something, so barriers are ideal, but (contrary to popular belief) children aren’t always obsessed with grabbing everything and have a perfectly reasonable understanding of ‘don’t touch things’. Personally I stand behind my son and hold his waist. The biggest thing you can do is to be accommodating. I’ve had an operator (actually someone on the forum) say to me “make sure they don’t touch anything!” In a sharp tone, where there was no sign of doing so. One trader also said “if you break that I’ll have to keep your mum”, which is a pretty heinous thing to say to a 5 year old who’s very carefully studying your wares! I’ve seen more badly behaved adults than children. Other operators have offered him to either have a drive or come see ‘behind the scenes’. You don’t need to do that, because for every careful child there will be one who just wants things to move at full speed, but it’s amazing how a surly attitude can totally sour one on a layout! TL:DR: no special concessions needed, just be a decent human being!
  12. The OP said “the fact they could not bring the 58s back from France”. Merely observing that that isn’t a fact. It’s an economic decision, they chose not to. Yes it would be great to see everything saved (ish), but it’s not hard to understand why they weren’t brought back, nothing to do with what they could do.
  13. I take a folding step stool for my 6-year-old. Works fine. Great if layouts have something, but no issues if not.
  14. Just to throw another hat into the ring I’d also have a couple in N. I’ve got a spare 68 to cut up and modify, but may just hang on now!
  15. You seem to be attributing large amounts of emotion to what will have been an economic decision. Of course they could have bought them back, but why would they? They’re now 40 years old, and DB (/EWS) didn’t want them 20 years ago.
  16. AliExpress applies VAT once you add things to your basket. It’s very clearly shown, I applaud their transparency. A lot of EU (particularly German) based cycling retailers (including some that had gone to the effort of having .co.uk domains, such was their perceived market) simply stopped selling to the UK entirely post Brexit. So I would rather assume that’ll be the broader outcome if HMRC start ‘enforcing’ their rules. I think it’s a bit of a sad state of affairs they believe they can actually make such demands of small retailers thousands of miles away.
  17. I know I led us off topic slightly by talking about the real thing, but at least we were discussing 92s. I'm not sure we need 3 consecutive posts all about a specific class 90 🤦‍♂️ sure there's another thread for that!
  18. The overscale greenery in N shows though - that grassy area behind looks as tall as the train! Fence looks too neat as well.
  19. Have you replaced the roof grilles on that 57? Looks aweseome! I'd like to do mine on the Dapol 50s where I think the moulded ones look awful. Have always enjoyed this thread, great to see it continuing!
  20. Yeah, oddly 015 merely shuffled out of Crewe IEMD and back again. The other two had proper runs. But anyway, as I said, be weird to be investing if they don’t intend to use them domestically. 029 was bought out of storage too, and they’ve never needed extras to run the tunnel services previously.
  21. Seems unlikely given they’ve been upgrading them to work under their own power on the WCML. 011 and 029 have been upgraded in line with GBRf ones and have both been tested under their own power on the WCML, either light engine or towing a 90.
  22. I’d kinda missed that it was missing the mints. Sad times. Given DB had preserved them to date.
  23. Subtle variation on DB red (large logos) now applied to 029 as outshopped yesterday (credit: James Hartley). Fingers crossed this, combined with the work they’ve done on a few, means we’ll see DB ones back on the WCML soon.
